The pool table was left with just Zhou Yuwen’s striped ball and Lu Lin’s black eight.
At this mont, Lu Hui finally arrived, fashionably late as usual.
Seeing her, Liu Shuo grinned widely. “Xiaohui, you’re here!” he called, imdiately reaching out to touch her, but Lu Hui, having grown cautious after their previous encounter, deftly avoided him.
“Didn’t you say we were eating with Zhou Yuwen?” she asked.
“Yeah, my Brother and Sister-in-Law are playing pool,” Liu Shuo explained.
“?”
Only then did Lu Hui notice Zhou Yuwen and Lu Lin at the table. She had always suspected sothing was going on between them but never asked since she was new to the company. Now, hearing Liu Shuo call Lu Lin "Sister-in-Law," her curiosity grew.
At the table, Zhou Yuwen asked Lu Lin, “Do you still want that motorcycle?”
Knowing she couldn’t win, Lu Lin huffed arrogantly, “I don’t want it anymore.”
Zhou Yuwen chuckled, “Even if you don’t want it, I’ll still get it for you.”
He positioned himself, carefully lining up his shot. With a single stroke, the cue ball hit the striped ball, which spun into the center pocket, while the black eight followed straight into the corner pocket.
A two-ball shot with one stroke!
The spectators clapped enthusiastically. Even Little Ru couldn’t hide her excitent. “Both balls went in! Both balls went in!” she exclaid.
“What’s there to be excited about?” Zhou Yuwen said nonchalantly. “I hit the black eight before finishing the stripes. Anyway, tomorrow, we’ll pick a ti to get your motorcycle.”
He set down the cue and wrapped his arm around Lu Lin’s slender waist, but Lu Lin glared at him, clearly annoyed. The motorcycle didn’t matter anymore.
She had wanted to show off her skills and impress Zhou Yuwen, but instead, he had stolen her mont. Feeling disappointed, she thought, How boring. What a killjoy.
Zhou Yuwen, however, thought nothing of it. A motorcycle was easy to buy—one that looked cool enough for him to ride too. But he wouldn’t let Lu Lin get carried away with it.
Noticing Lu Hui’s arrival, Zhou Yuwen took Lu Lin’s hand and said, “Everyone’s here. Let’s find a place to eat.”
Liu Shuo quickly agreed and casually asked, “Xiaohui, what do you want to eat? It’s on .”
Lu Hui, knowing Liu Shuo had money, thought it would be a waste not to indulge. After so consideration, she said, “There’s a new Western restaurant near the school I’ve been wanting to try.”
“What’s so good about that? It’s expensive and not worth it. I’d rather spend that money on so lamb skewers at a barbecue stall,” Liu Shuo blurted before she could finish.
Turning to Zhou Yuwen, he said, “Brother, let’s go for barbecue.”
“Fine with ,” Zhou Yuwen said, glancing at Lu Lin. “What about you?”
Lu Lin replied indifferently, “I don’t mind.”
Lu Hui, however, felt awkward. Why bother asking
if you already decided?
Ignoring her reaction, Liu Shuo gathered a few more people from the pool hall, and they headed to a nearby barbecue stall.
As winter set in, the barbecue stalls were less crowded. Liu Shuo booked a private room and began ordering food, asking Lu Hui, “What do you want to eat?”
“Whatever,” she said curtly, still sulking.
So Liu Shuo ordered at random.
The al was casual, with light conversation. The only significant mont ca when Zhou Yuwen inford Liu Shuo that he planned to appoint Lu Lin as the assistant manager of the modeling company, which Liu Shuo and Zhao Jun were overseeing.
“She doesn’t know much, so you’ll need to help her,” Zhou Yuwen instructed.
“No problem, Brother. Sister-in-Law doesn’t need to do a thing—I’ll handle everything,” Liu Shuo replied confidently.
Hearing this, Lu Hui couldn’t help but feel a pang of jealousy. She watched as Lu Lin, silent and aloof, casually pushed lamb skewers onto her plate. After taking a few bites, Lu Lin frowned slightly. “It’s a bit spicy,” she said, feeding a piece to Zhou Yuwen.
Zhou Yuwen, mid-conversation, turned to her and asked, “Really?” He took a bite and agreed, “It is a bit spicy. Want
to ask them to tone it down?”
“Forget it. I’m too lazy to move,” Lu Lin replied.
Lu Hui watched this with growing frustration. Just a lucky girl who latched onto Zhou Yuwen. Here I am, struggling after college, while she’s a freshman earning more than .
After dinner, Zhou Yuwen and Lu Lin excused themselves, claiming they wanted to take a walk but were clearly heading ho.
anwhile, Liu Shuo dismissed his friends, eager to spend ti alone with Lu Hui. But Lu Hui, ever shrewd, clutched her stomach and groaned, “I’m not feeling well. I need to use the restroom.”
“What’s wrong? Why does your stomach hurt all of a sudden?” Liu Shuo asked, frowning.
“I… I just need the restroom.”
Without waiting for a response, Lu Hui hurried off.
Liu Shuo, unwilling to give up, decided to wait no matter how long it took.
He waited for forty minutes, pacing back and forth outside the restroom, watching the clock and muttering to himself. When Lu Hui finally erged, still pale, Liu Shuo seized the mont, hoping to finish what he had started earlier.
But Lu Hui preempted him, clutching her stomach and groaning softly, “I’m really not feeling well. I need to go ho.”
“Going ho now?” Liu Shuo asked, clearly disappointed.
“You’re not going to try and force
to do that kind of thing again, are you?” Lu Hui snapped, her tone sharp.
“No, no! Of course not! That kind of thing… Sister Xiaohui, you’ve got the wrong idea,” Liu Shuo stamred, quickly backing off.
Despite his protests, it was obvious that Lu Hui wasn’t going to give him the opportunity he had been waiting for. She maintained her air of discomfort and brushed him off, leaving Liu Shuo both frustrated and helpless.
