There was a freshman event this Friday, so the mbers of the student council were quite busy. Not only the student council, but even the class representatives were unusually swamped. Each class was required to contribute a performance for the event. While Zhou Yuwen was in Hong Kong, Gu Yaoyao had contacted him, asking if he wanted to sing.
Zhou Yuwen responded directly, saying he didn’t have ti. After all, he wasn’t a class representative, so why bother?
However, Su Qing and Shen Yu were both quite busy. Although Su Qing was a reborn individual, she didn’t have as clear a plan as Zhou Yuwen and was basically following the original plot but doing better than before. As for Shen Yu, she had always been a motivated person, so she and Su Qing got along well, which made sense considering they had been close in their previous lives.
After class, Zhou Yuwen took Zheng Yanyan to the auditorium to have dinner with the other three girls. In the auditorium, they ran into Chen Wan, the vice president of the student council, and Tao Tian, the head of the arts departnt.
For this freshman event, the opening dance was being handled by the arts departnt. Both Zheng Yanyan and Lu Lin had been selected as the lead perforrs, standing at the front.
At that mont, Tao Tian was complaining that Zheng Yanyan wasn’t following instructions. She had missed the rehearsal, and even by midnight, she still hadn’t shown up.
As Tao Tian was speaking, Zheng Yanyan appeared, holding hands with Zhou Yuwen.
Tao Tian frowned slightly and asked, “Didn’t you say you had sothing to do?”
Zheng Yanyan grinned, “Of course I did! My boyfriend just got back from Macau, so I went to pick him up.”
To Zheng Yanyan, Zhou Yuwen’s trip to Macau was a significant event.
Tao Tian glanced curiously at Zhou Yuwen. “What were you doing in Macau?”
“Just playing,” Zhou Yuwen replied with a smile.
On stage, a group of long-legged girls were still rehearsing the opening dance. The girls in the front row, dressed in white pleated skirts, were among the best-looking in the school. Even though Lu Lin wasn’t wearing a short skirt, she was still placed toward the back.
Yet, despite this, Zhou Yuwen’s first glance still landed on Lu Lin.
Since Zheng Yanyan had shown up, she had no excuse not to rehearse. After exchanging a few jokes with Tao Tian, she said she would join the rehearsal now that she had ti.
Tao Tian could only let it go.
Shen Yu and Su Qing were both busy with their respective roles—one behind the scenes and the other as the host—discussing event details with the key student council mbers. When they saw Zhou Yuwen from a distance, they waved at him.
Zhou Yuwen nodded in return.
Tao Tian, clearly irritated by Zheng Yanyan’s behavior, comnted, “Your girlfriend never listens. She didn’t show up for the arts departnt’s first eting, and now she’s missing rehearsals.”
“If it weren’t for Chen Wan’s recomndation, no matter how good her dancing is, I wouldn’t have let her join the arts departnt.”
“What are you saying about ?” Chen Wan, the vice president, approached with a smile.
“Zhou Yuwen, did you bring
any gifts from Macau?” Chen Wan asked teasingly, knowing she was in Zhou Yuwen’s social dia circle.
Zhou Yuwen joked, “Senior, you’re making this awkward.”
Chen Wan burst out laughing, playfully scolding him, “You’re one to talk! I worked hard to get you into the student council, and you never show up for etings.”
“Our president is quite upset with you.”
Zhou Yuwen shrugged. “Can’t bla , I’ve been too busy.”
Tao Tian, curious, asked, “Why does everyone know you went to Macau?”
Chen Wan laughed, “It’s all over his social dia. What, you haven’t added him on WeChat yet?”
Tao Tian had given Zhou Yuwen her WeChat earlier, but he hadn’t added her back, making the current conversation a bit awkward.
Zhou Yuwen quickly said, “How could I add such a cool senior without an invitation?”
Chen Wan laughed again.
Ignoring Zhou Yuwen, Tao Tian turned to him and asked, “By the way, Zhou Yuwen, with all these beautiful girls in the arts departnt, would any of them be interested in part-ti work?”
“What kind of part-ti work?” Tao Tian asked, puzzled.
Zhou Yuwen explained, “Things like promotional models or exhibition hostesses. I’m sure there are such jobs available on campus, right?”
Tao Tian nodded. Indeed, she had received inquiries due to her position as head of the arts departnt.
The pay was usually between 150 and 200 yuan, and the work was easy—about half a day with a al included.
Zhou Yuwen nodded and added, “If anyone’s interested in these kinds of jobs, feel free to contact . I have friends who handle this, and the pay is a bit higher, between 230 and 300 yuan. I deal directly with the event organizers, so the rates are better.”
Tao Tian looked at Zhou Yuwen with a newfound curiosity. “How do you have connections for everything?”
Zhou Yuwen shrugged. “When you’re out in the world, it’s good to have many skills.”
Tao Tian pulled out her phone and said, “Add
on WeChat. I’ll put you in the arts departnt’s group chat.”
“If any students need part-ti work, they can contact you directly, right?” Tao Tian asked.
“Sure, that works,” Zhou Yuwen agreed.
After adding WeChat, Tao Tian imdiately saw Zhou Yuwen’s social dia posts, not just about Macau but also Hong Kong, and even a selfie of him in his M4.
“Another rich second-generation kid with good looks. Too bad he already has a girlfriend,” Tao Tian thought to herself.
Once Zhou Yuwen was in the Arts Departnt group, Tao Tian tagged everyone, announcing that those interested in part-ti work could reach out to Zhou Yuwen.
The Arts Departnt group, which was practically a “Spider Cave” with its many girls, surrounded Zhou Yuwen with ssages. His popularity wasn’t that high yet, but his photos—stylish, handso, and slightly artsy—quickly won the girls over.
One girl ssaged him, “@Zhou Yuwen, is the M4 on campus yours?”
“Oh, so it was your car! A new campus rich kid!”
“Rich kid, take care of ! (emojis)”
The “Spider Cave” nickna wasn’t an exaggeration. Zhou Yuwen sent a 200 RMB group red packet and replied, “Please take care of , seniors. Let
know if you need anything.”
“Thank you, big shot (shy emoji)”
“Thank you, rich kid (grin emoji)”
These girls, with their fresh and artsy profile pictures, all expressed their gratitude to Zhou Yuwen.
Tao Tian comnted that Zhou Yuwen’s red packet was overly generous and that a token amount would have sufficed.
Zhou Yuwen said it was no big deal and just wanted everyone to have so fun.
After leaving the group chat, a stream of girls started adding him on WeChat—so genuinely interested in part-ti work, while others just wanted to test the waters of romance with him.
Regardless of their intentions, Zhou Yuwen added them to another part-ti group and brought in Liu Shuo, instructing him to handle the details.
Briefing Liu Shuo on what to do, Liu Shuo was quick to butter him up, saying, “Brother Zhou, you’re amazing! You have connections for everything!”
“Less flattery,” Zhou Yuwen replied, “Just get it done. Finished the work I gave you?”
“Of course, Brother Zhou. How could I not?”
After going back to campus on October 5th, Liu Shuo had been diligently following Zhou Yuwen. He enjoyed the respect and sense of accomplishnt from the students calling him “Brother Shuo.”
During the break, the students Zhou Yuwen had placed in part-ti roles gave excellent feedback.
“Brother Shuo! The jobs Brother Zhou found us are great—good pay, good food!”
“Brother Shuo, co back soon! We want to treat you and bring Brother Zhou along!”
This successful organization of their first part-ti gigs fostered a sense of camaraderie. Following Zhou Yuwen’s advice, Liu Shuo quickly created a part-ti work group, filling it with two thousand mbers within three days and already working on a second group.
Other students soon caught wind and ca to Liu Shuo, eager to join. Of course, there were also those who ca to complain about getting scamd at their part-ti jobs.
“Brother Shuo, they say they’re looking out for Xu Zhou’s people. Brother Shuo, you’re going to help, right?”
If Zhou Yuwen had heard this, he would’ve likely brushed it off. But Liu Shuo took it seriously, giving the guy a firm promise of support.
With an influx of like-minded followers, Liu Shuo’s loyal group grew into a formidable presence in the university town. And even Manager Zhao sent Zhou Yuwen a cryptic ssage that night: “Little brother, you’re truly sothing.”
Unconcerned with Liu Shuo’s “antics,” Zhou Yuwen only advised him to get the right paperwork done and even suggested starting a “Part-Ti Helper Club” to assist students in finding better jobs.
Taking his advice, Liu Shuo officially founded Xianlin Labor Company, making Zhou Yuwen a shareholder and main investor while Liu Shuo handled operations.
As the company continued to stabilize, Liu Shuo respected Zhou Yuwen even more, following his instructions to inquire about buying out express points at school. He found that transfer fees averaged around 8,000 to 10,000 RMB each, totaling about 100,000 for all points.
Feeling the pressure, Liu Shuo offered to “borrow” so from his dad.
Zhou Yuwen said it wasn’t necessary and encouraged him to keep negotiating, reminding him to ensure proper managent.
Their conversation ended as Zheng Yanyan jumped down from the stage, imdiately pouting at Zhou Yuwen, “Hey, weren’t you watching
dance?”
“I was watching,” he replied.
“Oh, please, I didn’t see you look up once!”
Su Qing and Shen Yu walked over and greeted Zhou Yuwen. Su Qing suggested they all go for hot pot.
“Alright,” Zhou Yuwen agreed with a smile. “It’s on .”
The group left the auditorium, chatting and laughing. Lu Lin trailed behind them quietly, not joining the conversation.
The BMW M4 had four seats, and with all four girls being quite slender, they managed to fit. Su Qing nudged Zheng Yanyan to sit in the back.
"Let Shen Yu sit in the front," she said.
"What for? I’m no smaller than Shen Yu!" Zheng Yanyan shot back, jokingly and with a playful tone that even made Shen Yu blush.
Zhou Yuwen pretended he hadn’t heard anything.
As he drove off with the four girls in his convertible, Tao Tian and Chen Wan ca out of the auditorium and watched him go. With a slight daze in her eyes, Tao Tian asked Chen Wan, “What does Zhou Yuwen’s family do? He seems pretty well-off.”
“Yeah, they seem to have money. He’s likely a local here in Jinling,” Chen Wan replied with a smile.
Zheng Yanyan insisted on having Haidilao for hot pot.
Su Qing gave her a look, “Why do you have to pick the most expensive place?”
“Doesn’t hurt when it’s soone else’s money, right?”
“I’ll spend my boyfriend’s money however I want!” Zheng Yanyan teased, the two bickering as usual, though both knew when to stop.
In 2013, Haidilao was already popular, though it hadn’t yet reached its future level of fa. Of course, the price was as high as ever.
In reality, there were plenty of other hot pot choices, but so girls just wanted the thrill of posting from Haidilao, which always seed crowded and bustling. These days, a Haidilao check-in was almost a staple in any college student’s social dia feed.
They headed to a nearby Haidilao and started their al. While they were eating, Shen Yu couldn’t help but ask what had been on her mind for a while, “Zhou Yuwen, why did you buy an apartnt?”
Zhou Yuwen smiled, “Didn’t I tell you guys before the break?”
“My parents gave
money early, planning for
to buy a place. I just split it up to buy part of it on a car and the rest on an apartnt.”
“How big is the place you bought?” Shen Yu asked, curious.
Zhou Yuwen chuckled, “Take a guess.”
Shen Yu couldn’t guess, but Su Qing confidently replied, “Your parents probably gave you no more than two million. You spent around 800,000 on a car, so that leaves about 1.2 million. With Jinling’s real estate prices around 10,000 per square ter, plus renovations, you probably bought a small one-bedroom.”
Zhou Yuwen laughed, “You got all that just by guessing?”
“Hmph.” Su Qing gave a triumphant look, “I know you better than you know yourself.”
Zhou Yuwen just smiled and continued dipping his tripe into the hot pot, “Let’s just eat for now. When we’re done, I’ll take you all to see it.”
