“It’s about ti!” Qin Lun slowly rose from the sofa.
Most of the surveillance projections before him had already gone dark. Although he’d purposely reduced their number, after several days, the monitoring equipnt’s energy had finally run out. Currently, only a handful of projections still showed images, and even those flickered erratically, ready to black out at any mont.
Little Mute’s eyes held a strange light as she bounced over to Qin Lun. Becoming an Apostle had helped her unburden her heart sowhat during this ti; she wasn’t as guarded against Qin Lun as before.
“You can’t co. In that level of battle, I won’t be able to look after you,” Qin Lun shook his head at her, not waiting for her to speak before continuing, “I’ve morized the route to that location through the sewers. I don’t need a guide. Stay here safely and wait for the tropolis Domination War to end.”
His eyes were clear as he crouched down, pinched Little Mute’s cheek, and said with a smile, “If I die, go join Devil’s Horn City yourself. Find the Elven Race or the Demon Clan. They’ll take you to my residence. My two companions are there; you can follow them!”
“Yaya!” Little Mute uttered two soft cries and patted Qin Lun’s head like a little adult. This ti, she didn’t insist on following him, seeming to understand that forcing herself along would only beco a burden for the young man.
“I will co back!” Qin Lun smiled faintly, stood up, and walked into the depths of the sewer without looking back.
The young man raced through the sewer, heading in a specific direction. He had to thank Atlantis’s city designers; it was thanks to the city’s extensive sewer network that it afforded him this shortcut opportunity.
In fact, at the start of the Domination War, it wasn’t that no Apostle wanted to utilize the city’s sewer network. It was just that Atlantis Sacred City was vast, its sewers layered and stacked, forming a three-dinsional structure. Apart from the strange duo of Little Mute and Little Squirrel, even the native residents struggled to fully understand this labyrinthine sewer network.
The reason the six powerful combatants currently fighting felt the duel spot couldn’t harbor a lurking third party was precisely because they instinctively believed no Apostle could exploit the extensive underground network.
The battle among the six powerful figures had been going on for over ten minutes. It could be said all three pairs had begun fighting in earnest; the clashes were exceptionally chaotic and spectacular.
Qin Lun initially targeted the Assassin and the bald MT (Main Tank) as his best options. But after watching over ten minutes of fighting, he had to change his mind. This battle, which he had believed most likely to end in mutual wounding, was actually unfolding in one side’s overwhelming favor.
Liu Biao, the bald MT, was no match for the Assassin at all. Although his Thorns ability and incredibly high Constitution caused the Assassin so trouble, it was just trouble. In this fight, the formidable Assassin once again demonstrated combat strength far superior to his opponent.
Previously, this Assassin had left other Apostles with the impression of possessing imnsely powerful explosive bursts, seemingly unstoppable in the early stages – almost no one lasted three minutes under his assault. However, this also gave others the feeling his stamina wasn’t great, since it’s commonly believed that the greater the explosive power, the less likely it can be sustained long-term.
Yet, in this battle against a Thorns-focused MT, he displayed an entirely different combat style. After swapping his powerful, slash-focused weapon for a sawtooth dagger, his burst power dropped significantly. Instead, his sustained damage capability soared to an incredible level.
That sawtooth dagger possessed a potent Bleed effect. The Assassin’s fighting style shifted from instantaneous explosions to slow and steady attacks. Each strike only left a shallow wound on the bald giant, no longer pursuing single, critical strikes.
However, as ti passed, the bald giant began to be covered in wounds. Even his muscle control’s natural recovery ability could no longer nd his increasingly broken body. Continuous bleeding set in.
Although the bald MT hadn’t lost his fighting spirit yet, perhaps still holding onto a trump card or two, Qin Lun felt his defeat was unavoidable. Even if he played all his cards later, it likely wouldn’t cause much trouble for the Assassin. Still, thanks to his extrely high Stamina, the bald MT should still have a chance to voluntarily relinquish his Invitation Letter before the end.
But this ant the Assassin would sustain minimal damage. Qin Lun genuinely lacked confidence about picking off such an opponent. Even though he enjoyed hazardous adventures, attempting a fight with over a ninety percent failure rate was bound to kill the thrill.
anwhile, the battle between Long Feng and the Puppet Master was also intensifying. After the Puppet Master deployed three Iron Golems, Long Feng found it much harder to destroy his lower-quality puppets.
This was mainly because the Magic Crystal cannon blasts from the three Iron Golems were too powerful; one hit could cause severe injury, forcing him to rely on his extre speed again. Even if he could sever the connection linking a puppet to its master, he wouldn’t dare risk destroying them under such bombardnt.
However, both Long Feng and the Puppet Master understood this stalemate couldn’t last. The outco depended on whether Long Feng made a mistake during his high-speed maneuvers first, or whether the Puppet Master’s Iron Golems depleted their Magic Crystals first. Whoever lasted longer would win.
This clash had the potential to wound both warriors severely, yet Qin Lun still felt it unlikely he could benefit. The reason was his prediction that this battle would likely end inconclusively.
Though Long Feng and the Puppet Master were currently fired up, judging by their present pace, they seed destined to fight for at least another long stretch before a victor erged. As ti dragged on, both would likely recognize the trendous cost of victory and choose to disengage. Their current gains were probably satisfactory enough; the risk of mutual destruction wasn’t worth forcing a final confrontation over.
If Qin Lun appeared before them in this scenario, he ran the risk of uniting them against him instead. Especially the swordsman Long Feng – he would definitely recognize Qin Lun as the man who killed Qin Ba. The Puppet Master would also realize Qin Lun was the instigator who pushed them into this duel. Appearing then would be like walking into their trap himself; such a risk was far too unreasonable.
Therefore, Qin Lun was now rushing to the engagent that had originally drawn the least attention: the duel between Kung Fu Girl nlo and Female Knight Yin Shi.
During his initial analysis, Qin Lun had predicted this fight would be explosive from the start if it actually happened. But he hadn’t foreseen it becoming this spectacular.
Female Knight Yin Shi acted just as he expected. She opted to eliminate her opponents one by one. Right off the bat, she unleashed imnse power, instantly killing nlo’s two Apostle subordinates, forcing the Kung Fu Girl into a one-on-one.
This conflict left Qin Lun feeling profoundly stimulated. The reason nlo’s trio found themselves in this predicant was largely due to their own blunder. They had been too overwhelmingly successful during the last ten-plus days. Their confidence had swelled beyond asure.
Had they not deliberately planned to trap their opponent from the outset—forming a three-pronged encirclent around the Female Knight—then even with her formidable burst power, Yin Shi would likely have found it difficult to consecutively kill two Apostles and forcibly shape the many-against-one scenario into a single duel against nlo.
Of course, Yin Shi’s actions this ti planted a huge explosive charge beneath the very battlefield itself. nlo, unable to rescue her companions in ti, suffered a massive emotional shock. The battle maniac truly flew into a rage. What had begun as a probing fight escalated into a death battle with no retreat.
Despite killing two opponents early on, once Yin Shi faced nlo alone, she actually fell into a disadvantage. nlo specialized in leg techniques and cultivated an air-stepping skill, allowing her to dodge freely in mid-air, completely unafraid of the Female Knight’s fearso charge.
While nlo was suppressing Yin Shi, she couldn’t deal any quick decisive blows against the Knight either. That plate armor offered astounding defense like a giant turtle shell; damaging it with purely martial techniques alone would inevitably be a drawn-out slog of attrition.
In reality, if no third party intervened, both combatants would ultimately have to settle for a stalemate. Against nlo, the Female Knight lacked sufficient Agility and finesse to land a finishing strike. nlo, though capable of slowly wearing Yin Shi down, possessed inherently limited Stamina. The longer the fight dragged on, the more she’d be forced toward strategic retreat.
Under normal circumstances, Qin Lun would have found no opening to interfere without simultaneously provoking both won into attacking him.
But the current situation differed. Yin Shi had slain nlo’s two comrades in front of her face. Their battle now wasn’t rely about the Invitation Letter or Treasure Map Fragnt; it held deep personal enmity. They could no longer unite against an outsider.
“Bang! Bang!” Just as both fighters seed slightly winded, gunshots abruptly echoed across the battlefield. Two bullets traced arcing paths through the air, heading straight toward nlo from the side.
nlo had just used her air-stepping technique to evade a thrust from the Female Knight’s lance when she sensed the powerful wind ripping through the air beside her. Her expression darkened instantly. But she was the Kung Fu Girl; even with her montum spent mid-move, she twisted her waist and executed a flip in the air, dodging clear of the bullets’ projected paths.
Then, sothing completely unexpected happened. The bullets hadn’t traveled identical arcs at all. One curved far more steeply than the other. Near the ends of their trajectories, they collided mid-air.
“Clang!” The sharp sound of tal clashing rang out as one bullet ricocheted from the impact, its altered course targeting nlo’s right ankle precisely.
Though mid-backflip and unable to witness the collision, nlo’s Perception scread warning bells. Her slender eyebrows shot sky-high; a flicker of surprise crossed her face. Instantly, her upper body stiffened—contorting almost impossibly—to place her arm in the bullet’s new trajectory, shielding her vulnerable ankle.
“Thud!” Blood sprayed from nlo’s palm as the bullet drilled a neat hole through it. Grunting in suppressed pain, she rolled upon landing before staggering upright, clutching her wounded hand. Burning fury blazed in her eyes as she glared toward her right flank.
The Female Knight Yin Shi also stopped her assault, her gaze sharpening with suspicion as it followed nlo’s focus. From behind a park bench nearby, a figure stood up slowly.
A faint smile touched Qin Lun’s face. Inside, he marvelled at nlo’s reaction. While aiming, he hadn’t truly expected the caroming bullet to specifically target her ankle; luck played a role. Nevertheless, this Kung Fu Girl’s exceptional Agility truly stunned him. Had he been her target in that scenario—trapped airborne and having already employed evasive maneuvers twice—he’d never have dodged that precisely angled ricochet.
Blocking the projectile with her palm, safeguarding her mobility via her ankle midair… it bordered on supernatural, requiring reflexes sharp to a terrifying degree.
“Hmph, vermin! Since you dared interfere in OUR battle, I’ll kill you first!” nlo’s eyes flashed cold fury. She crouched low—instantly abandoning her pursuit of the Female Knight—and lunged ferociously toward Qin Lun.
