“There sure are a lot of freaks in this Domination War area!” Qin Lun’s faint sigh echoed in the dim room.

Outside, the Apostle warriors were still fighting. They had no idea that the one who started this big battle was relaxing on a broken sofa, watching a row of projection screens. He was eating and drinking ssily while enjoying their life-and-death struggle, occasionally switching screens to watch more exciting live combat.

Behind the sofa, the Holy City Orphan with ssy hair and the little squirrel with a big tail both had fire in their eyes. They clenched their tiny fists and little claws, staring fiercely at Qin Lun.

They had kindly helped Qin Lun in the Parking Lot. Later, because the young man shalessly begged them for a hiding place, they foolishly brought him to their hideout. They thought he would support himself, but instead, he was overjoyed when he saw the place and imdiately took over, refusing to leave.

Not only did he refuse to leave, he also used all kinds of excuses to eat most of the winter food the Holy City Orphan had saved. He even ate all the tree seeds the little squirrel had hidden as snacks.

“Truly, dragons and tigers hide among us. I wonder if my plan will be good news for those freaks!” Qin Lun reached for the nearby broken can. “Huh? No water! Mute, is there any more water?”

Qin Lun turned his head and saw four fiery gazes imdiately shoot toward him, as if they wanted to burn him alive.

“Ahem, well… I’ll get it myself!” Qin Lun gave a dry laugh, stood up from the sofa, walked to the distiller in the corner of the room, and filled the can halfway with water.

After taking a sip of the slightly yellow distilled water from the can, Qin Lun recalled the scene a few days ago when the two humans and the squirrel left the Parking Lot.

Back then, the young man suddenly rembered that since the Holy City Orphan could survive alone in the dangerous Atlantis city for over two years with this little squirrel, he must have a hiding place even wild animals would struggle to find.

Under his persistent pestering, the Holy City Orphan and the little squirrel felt a bit proud and brought him here. As soon as he entered, Qin Lun imdiately understood why the Holy City Orphan could survive alone for so long.

This place was originally a very hidden Underground Research Facility, or part of one. The main part of the Underground Research Facility and its above-ground structures had already been destroyed.

Strictly speaking, the place they were in was just a Monitoring Room, responsible for monitoring the surface conditions of this Underground Research Facility. Its location was right next to Atlantis’s sewer system. When the Underground Research Facility was destroyed, the explosion’s force was partly absorbed by the sewer system.

As a result, this Monitoring Room wasn’t completely buried. During the final war, the Holy City Orphan had hidden in the sewers. With the help of his pet little squirrel, he spent months slowly digging through the collapsed area between the Monitoring Room and the sewers, making the Monitoring Room his and the squirrel’s hideout.

There weren’t many things in the Monitoring Room. Besides the walls covered in monitor screens, there was only a sofa and an automatic distiller. Perhaps because of the big explosion, this distiller had so problems. The distilled water, which should have been clean, ca out with a slightly yellow tint from minerals.

However, strangely, most of the monitoring equipnt in the Monitoring Room remained intact and still had so energy left to operate. This equipnt could connect to undamaged road projectors near the Underground Research Facility, monitoring the area around it.

This Underground Research Facility was actually much larger than the Celestial Wheel’s branch Fortress. It even had underground networks connecting to so nearby military buildings, occupying almost one-seventh of this Domination War area.

The Holy City Orphan usually relied on the monitoring equipnt to avoid large wild creatures and survive by hunting small animals. Back at the Parking Lot, it was also thanks to the monitoring equipnt that he could help Qin Lun.

However, the orphan knew the monitoring equipnt had limited energy. He only turned it on for a few minutes each day, just enough to see the situation above ground, and then imdiately turned it off. If he kept it on day and night like Qin Lun, watching the Apostles fight, the equipnt’s energy would be used up in a few days.

Snapping out of his mories, Qin Lun looked again at the Holy City Orphan and the little squirrel beside him. The two little ones imdiately glared back at him without hesitation.

“Haha, don’t look at

like that, you two. I did eat your food, but I will repay you!” Qin Lun said with a laugh.

The orphan blinked his clear black-and-white eyes and turned his head away. Strangely, Qin Lun understood his aning perfectly: he was saying, “I don’t believe you!”

This Holy City Orphan had eyes that could speak. Qin Lun had realized this after that night in the Parking Lot. Perhaps the orphan suffered severe psychological trauma during the disaster, causing his speech disorder. Anyway, Qin Lun had never heard him say a word, so he called him Mute.

But this didn’t hinder their communication. Every ti Qin Lun looked into his eyes, he instantly understood what he wanted to express. After confirming it wasn’t Telepathy, Qin Lun was even worried for a while that Joey might show up and dissect the orphan for human research.

Of course, this idea was quickly t with Joey’s disdain. The Dissector clearly told him he had no such intention; it was obviously Qin Lun’s own curiosity at work.

“I’m not lying to you!” Qin Lun sighed softly. “This city will soon experience rebirth, but for survivors like you from the Holy City, it’s not good news! You’ve seen it yourself—just in this area, hundreds of Apostles are fighting. The battle they’re engaged in is called the tropolis Domination War, the final battle of the Atlantis continent war…”

Qin Lun crouched in front of the Holy City Orphan and spoke slowly. “After the war ends, the city will be cleaned up, and the ruins will be rebuilt. Your little nest will eventually be discovered, and then…

I originally thought you had decided to follow , which was why you helped

in the Parking Lot. I didn’t expect you were just repaying the doll’s favor… Although it’s frustrating that my life is only worth as much as a doll’s, there’s no doubt you helped

greatly.

I ate all your food because you won’t need it anymore. If you insist on staying alone, you will definitely be captured by slave-catching teams… With your skinny body like a reed, you probably won’t last through this winter!”

The Holy City Orphan trembled all over and slowly turned his head. His large eyes were clear, showing no trace of fear.

“Alright, I know you’re not afraid of death!” Qin Lun spread his hands helplessly. “But, I have plenty of food back at my place. How about you co and eat your share back first?”

“Chitter chitter chitter!” Seeing the Holy City Orphan still seed hesitant, the little squirrel climbed up its owner’s dirty T-shirt robe onto his shoulder, standing on its hind legs and gesturing with its front paws.

The Holy City Orphan’s eyes lit up, as if reminded by the little squirrel, suddenly rembering sothing. He got up from the ground, hugged the doll, and ran barefoot into the sewer. Qin Lun was slightly startled. Seeing the orphan run a distance and then look back at him discontentedly, he gave a wry smile and followed.

Following the orphan through the twists and turns of the sewer, they soon arrived at a sealed sewer branch. At the end of this branch was a steel wall with a small door in the center resembling a ship’s bulkhead door. In the middle of the door was a circular handle, apparently operable.

Arriving at the door, the orphan turned his head and looked at Qin Lun without a word. But the young man already understood his aning. He closed his eyes, and when he opened them again, they had transford into clock shapes.

“Huh!” With the feedback from the Ti-Space Threads, Qin Lun quickly saw the environnt behind the bulkhead door.

“Little one, have you been here before? There’s only a small chamber behind here, empty inside. Besides, it’s filled with dirty water now. We can’t open the door without draining the water.” Qin Lun looked puzzled at the orphan.

“What’s that look… Open the door, and we’ll be even for saving my life?” Qin Lun raised an eyebrow slightly. The pointers in his pupils jumped again, soon confirming the chamber was indeed empty, except for another small bulkhead door on the opposite side.

This structure… It seems this should still be within the Underground Research Facility’s range. Could this be another part of the research facility that hasn’t collapsed? This orphan might have been the child of a research facility worker back then…

“Little one, I don’t often owe favors to others. I hope your choice isn’t wrong!” Qin Lun sighed, pulled the Dagger of Sin from his chest, crouched down, and stabbed at the bottom of the bulkhead door.

The Fate Severance ability of the Dagger of Sin could even cut Apostle equipnt, so scrap tal was no problem. Soon, a hole was poked at the bottom of the bulkhead door. After Qin Lun pulled out the dagger, the hole was imdiately widened several tis by the pressure of the dirty water.

The water in the chamber opposite must have weighed tens of tons. The breach instantly shot water dozens of ters down the sewer, like a fire truck’s high-pressure hose.

Over half an hour later, the water level in the chamber finally dropped significantly. Qin Lun waited until the water pressure inside decreased to a tolerable level before opening the bulkhead door.

As soon as the door opened, the orphan slipped under Qin Lun’s arm and scurried into the chamber. However, he didn’t stay inside but waded through the water across the chamber to stand before the opposite bulkhead door, turning again to look at Qin Lun.

“There really is an abandoned research lab opposite this chamber!” Qin Lun’s eyes flickered as he thought. “So, this chamber must have been this lab’s separate ergency exit before!”

There was no accumulated water in the research lab opposite. Qin Lun forcefully turned the sowhat rusted bulkhead door.
