Chapter 99: Hurry Up and Apologize
Kathleen was yet to settle scores with the Beazell family, precisely Mrs Beazell for sending soone to murder her, but they still dared to act recklessly around her.
’It’s like I’ve been too slow lately and it’s high ti I showed them who the real boss was.
But first of all I need to deal with this crowd who were blindly supporting what they had no idea about.’
Linda glared at Kathleen, the deep hatred she had for Kathleen was oozing out so strong that it could be felt miles away.
She had not recovered from the huge amount she had to cough out in order to settle their previous case out of court after receiving the court summons from Moore Chambers.
"Are you threatening ?" As much as she would have loved to rip Kathleen apart with her bare hands, yet she couldn’t even bring herself to say anything after Kathleen’s warning.
She was livid with anger at her inability to do sothing to Kathleen who had gotten more invincible.
When she rembered how President Jason would always show up in her defense each ti she stirred up trouble for Kathleen, all her courage failed her. Who know whether he is lurking around sowhere.
She went back to support her mother from the ground and was thinking of how to retaliate against Kathleen when soone among the onlookers helped her.
"Why don’t you allow her to speak? Are you ashad that your dirty linen will be aired outside?"
They had just witnessed how Kathleen had cowed Linda into silence, so they were sure Kathleen had sothing to hide and that was why she threatened Linda into keeping quiet.
"Tsk! What a vicious person, she dares to do sothing shaful but wouldn’t allow others to talk about it."
Kathleen was disappointed at how people could easily draw conclusions without knowing the true details of the situation.
She felt she had played around with them enough and it was ti to put an end to the whole farce.
With that, her eyes narrowed dangerously as she scanned the crowd with her cold gaze. "Which of you saw
push the woman down? Co forward and testify."
Her unique, unfathomable purple orbs had a freezing look that seed to immobilize everyone, preventing them from coming forward.
Nobody wanted to face the strange aura in those eyes after all, they had not witnessed her pushing down the woman.
When Mrs Beazell saw that nobody said anything for a long ti and things were no longer going according to her expectations, she groaned painfully, holding onto her left waist.
Seeing the woman in such state, soone finally summoned courage and spoke up.
"We don’t need to see you do it, but can you explain why she is on the ground and in such a painful state?"
"Yes, how can she be on the ground if soone did not push her."
"What has her being on the ground got to do with ?" Kathleen retorted.
"A lot, a respectable lady like her can not just throw herself on the floor. Besides you were the only one standing beside her."
That was a floor opener for others to air their baseless accusations.
"I also heard them arguing a while ago," another one said. Although she did not outrightly say Kathleen pushed the woman down, even the blind could see the aning behind her statent.
"I’m sure she was the one that pushed her. She can’t even deny it. Look at how arrogant she has been acting all along."
"Since you pushed her, hurry up and apologize."
Linda and her mother were gloating by the side. They didn’t have to lift a hand but Kathleen was getting what she deserves.
It was the best outco they could hope for. "Serves her right. How dare she act frivolously."
Everyone was waiting to hear her apology but instead of the apology, Kathleen moved from where she was standing, her steps asured and calculated while her eyes skimd over the people, resting on no one in particular.
All of a sudden her lips curved into a dubious smile as she took unhurried steps towards the woman that spoke last.
"Which eye of yours saw
push her to the ground?"
Her aura was chillingly intimidating that an involuntary shiver coursed through the body of the lady in question.
Kathleen nodded in satisfaction. "Since everyone is claiming that I pushed her and that I am the guilty one here, don’t bla
for my actions."
She peered around and called out in a loud voice, "Who is the manager here?"
Mrs Beazell’s eyes widened in shock. ’How co I didn’t know that Kathleen was this powerful? She could hold a whole crowd to a standstill just by a few words.’
"What do you need the manager for? Do you think you can seduce him with your looks to twist the truth?" she spat out in disgust.
If nobody could speak, she as the victim should be able to say sothing in her own defense, right?
"I need to see the manager," Kathleen demanded impatiently. Her previous easy going personality completely disappeared as if she was no longer the sa person who was being subjected to public criticisms.
"Since she’s asking for the manager, soone should call him out, let’s see what she wants to do."
As if on cue, a barista appeared with soone whom he introduced as the manager.
"What is going on here and why is there a crowd gathered?"
Before anyone could say anything, Kathleen pulled out a card and handed it to the manager.
After going over the details on the card, his eyes widened in disbelief but he quickly masked it, returning the card back to Kathleen.
He was wise enough to deduce that Kathleen didn’t want her identity as the President of Wyatt Corporations exposed; if not she wouldn’t have just passed him the card but introduced herself verbally.
In her most professional voice, Kathleen requested,
"Kind Sir, I’m being accused of doing sothing by everyone here, so I need the footage from the surveillance cara to prove my innocence. Can you do that for ?"
