Chapter 83: Wait Until You See The Goddess

About five minutes later, Stacy ca to the checkout counter where Elvis was being treated like a VIP.

A dium stool chair was given to him to sit on while he waited for his grandmother.

He had to put up with the ladies who didn’t forget to ask him from ti to ti if he was sure he didn’t want anything which he would politely refuse.

"Grandma," called Elvis in great relief as soon as he saw her approach. It was like his savior had finally arrived, he couldn’t have been happier to see his grandmother now than any other ti in his life. He jumped down from the dium stool chair to stand beside his grandmother.

"We now know where he got his handso looks from. His grandmother is also a stunning lady," exclaid the lady at the counter when she saw Stacy’s elegant appearance.

"Is everyone in your family this good looking?" Her second colleague asked, her eyes gleaming with admiration.

Elvis smiled proudly, "Wait until you see the goddess."

"The goddess?" The second colleague asked, suddenly interested in knowing more about this family.

"My mom," Elvis explained. She is the most beautiful and aweso woman in the world."

Stacy’s lips spasd in a smile as she heard how Elvis was praising his mother.

"Thanks so much for taking care of my grandson."

"It’s a pleasure Madam. Hope you enjoyed your shopping." Sothing in her told her this woman was so big shot. Their aura, carriage and temperant showed they were not from an ordinary background.

"Yeah, I did," Stacy responded sincerely, then smiled down at Elvis. "Can we go now?"

"But Eleanor and Aunt Cheryl are not here yet," he pointed out, at the sa ti running a quick scan as far as his eyes could go.

"They will et us in the car. I already inford them before coming for you," she patiently explained.

"Ok grandma." He held his grandmother’s hand and they left for the car park. As they were leaving he glanced back over his shoulder at the ladies.

"Thank you beautiful aunties."

"Thanks sweetheart,"they both replied. "We hope to see you again."

"Sure," Elvis promised.

"How did you suddenly wander off and we couldn’t find you again?" asked Stacy as they waited in the car.

"I was bored grandma and needed sothing to distract . Has Eleanor chosen a gift yet?"

"She was able to see an Elsa dress up toy set that finally caught her fancy," Stacy smiled.

"That ans we won’t have to wait for long then."

Soon after, they were joined by Cheryl and Eleanor who were both in high spirits, chatting animatedly. They both held in their hands shopping bags.

"Why are you two so happy?" Elvis asked the two ladies who always have sothing to talk about.

Eleanor had a secretive smile as she announced "Guess who we t?"

There were so many people in the mall so she might have t all of them, but didn’t know which one Eleanor was so excited about after eting. "I don’t have the patience to guess, who did you et?"

Eleanor scowled, "Such a killjoy. Can’t you even try?"

"Dylan. We t Dylan as we were shopping," Eleanor announced cheerfully.

"Really?" Elvis was instantly interested.

He was one of his sister’s fans and the only one who had left a good impression on Elvis in the kindergarten.

He was a genius like him and their interests were similar. Elvis would talk to him once in a while but it was pretty too soon to classify him as a friend.

"Yeah, yeah," Eleanor said in response to Elvis.

"If not for that nosy man, I would also have t Dylan." Elvis grumbled to himself. But there was actually no need to cry over spilled milk, moreover he’ll et Dylan at Sophia’s party tomorrow.

For a mont Elvis wondered why that man was so interested in him. He didn’t forget the dazed look on the man’s face as he stared at him in the mall before he left him standing in the aisle. ’I hope I don’t run into him again,’ he prayed and smiled absentmindedly at what Eleanor was saying.

Steffan on the other hand was on his way to the hospital. He didn’t really have anything to do at the hospital as it was his day off, but he couldn’t go ho either.

He actually escaped from his parents under the pretext of getting sothing for his niece on her birthday.

He wasn’t ready for a repeat of the conversation he had with them this morning during breakfast.

He had just started eating when his mother turned to him,

"Son, my friend will be coming over this evening for Sophia’s birthday tomorrow and I want you to pick her up from the airport.

As the first grandchild in the family, it wasn’t strange to say that everybody doted on her and took her birthday as a serious affair even though it was just her sixth birthday.

"Why do I have to be the one to pick them up?" This is normally the job of the butler as far as he could rember. When has it beco his turn to start doing such nial tasks?

"Silly son," scolded his mother. "She will be coming with her daughter Benita."

"Pfffft" the bread he was chewing in his mouth scattered in different directions and he was caught in a bout of coughing.

His mother, who was sitting beside him, hurriedly stood up to pat his back a few tis until he stopped coughing.

"What?!" Scread Steffan after taking two sips of water. That na was enough of a nightmare to last a man for a thousand generations. There was no way he was going to willingly offer himself for the slaughter.

"What is the matter with you? You are already grown up but still behaving like a kid," his mother scolded, but her eyes still showed her concern.

"I’m sorry mom, but I can’t do that." The sumptuous breakfast of fresh peach, cinnamon raisin bread that was baked with sausage suddenly lost its taste and beca bitter in his mouth.

"Why? You don’t have anything serious today. You told

yourself that it was your day off," she reminded him.

"You’re right mom. But sothing ca up at the hospital that requires my urgent attention," he lied.

Mrs Rosse’s forehead creased in a frown. "How co you didn’t tell

this until I ntioned Benita?"

She was no fool and knew Steffan ca up with that excuse on the spur of the mont in order to dodge the assignnt.

"I was just inford before coming down for breakfast. I didn’t inform you as soon as I ca down because I thought it wasn’t necessary.

Besides, I didn’t expect that you would make such a request before I told you about my appointnt."

Mrs Rosse gave him a look that seed to say, "I’m not buying your silly tales" then smiles mischievously.

"That’s not a problem since they are not arriving till around four in the evening, so you have ample ti to quickly attend to your business at the hospital this morning. Before their plane lands, you should have been done with whatever you are doing."

’Damn,’ Steffan clenched his fist as he took a sip from his tea to disguise his frustration. ’How do I freaking get out of this?’

However, he put on a regretful look as he said,

"That would have been the perfect arrangent, mom, but I’m afraid my appointnt happened to clash with the ti of their arrival."

"To be precise, my appointnt is by 4:15 pm this evening and I might not have enough ti to get back to the hospital for the appointnt if I should pick them up first ."

’I think I’m making progress,’ he applauded himself and beca more confident.

"Actually what I planned to do was to make a quick dash to the mall to pick up a gift for Sophia before my appointnt."

Mrs Rosse was speechless. How co I didn’t know my son has beco so slippery that he can wriggle his way out of any situation no matter how entangled the situation was?

"The only reason I’m leaving you is because a life might be involved if you happen to be saying the truth, if not you know I don’t buy that excuse of yours."

"Have I told you that you are the most understanding mother I have ever t." Steffan gave her a quick peck on the cheek before she knew what was happening. "I’m lucky to have you as my mom."

The corners of Mr Rosse’s lips quirked in a lopsided smile at the hilarious mother and son.

"You win this ti around," Mrs Rosse admitted in defeat. "But let

remind you that I have ample ti on my hand and will be patient with you until you do the right thing."

"Don’t worry mom, I will make you happy soonest." He took the last bite of his sandwich and ran out leaving his mother with a deep scowl etched on her face.
