Chapter 71: Nothing But A Sad Joke

Shawn’s eyes hardened and narrowed into slits as he watched Kathleen enter the car, not even sparing him a glance and completely treated him as air.

He couldn’t believe she’d taken the escape route again without giving him face.

Before he could get to the car or try to stop it, it zood off leaving behind a trail of dust which nearly choked the aggravated Shawn.

Stacy wasn’t the only person that heard Shawn call Kathleen’s na. Steffan also did. That na did ring a bell, but he wondered where he had heard it.

It didn’t take long for him to rember.

’Oh... So this is all about his ex-wife. I think it’s high ti I knew the identity of the woman that has the ability to cause such an epic change in the life of the "Almighty Shawn Hudson."

Seeing that his boss was trying to catch up with the occupants of the white Bentley, Shawn’s driver quickly moved the car closer to him.

Steffan had to quicken his pace in order not to be left behind and eventually entered from the other side of the car.

The scene just now was hilarious but he dared not laugh seeing that the victim might not resist strangling anyone that foolishly offered himself as a scapegoat.

Luckily, they soon caught sight of the white Bentley. It was only then, the driver reduced his speed so as not to over take the car ahead.

From the side mirror, Kathleen saw a black rcedes Maybach suddenly appear behind her car. She was sure it wasn’t there a few minutes ago when she checked and guessed it must be Shawn’s.

Her sharp eyes had noticed that exact Maybach packed not far from her car at the airport when she was returning with her parents.

’What is he up to this ti around?’

As much as she wanted to avoid Shawn, she could not act recklessly because her parents were seated in the car and she was yet to explain her previous actions to them as she knew without being told that they couldn’t wait to interrogate her.

She sighed and decided to sit back and watch what Shawn was up to.

They drove in silence to the road leading to Fairview Villa, all the while still being followed by Shawn’s car.

As they entered the road, she watched to see if Shawn would follow but surprisingly his car continued on the road they just diverted from.

Shawn ordered the driver to drive back to Hudson Manor.

He pulled out his phone and dialed a number.

"Get

the information of the occupants of Fairview Villa imdiately."

Few minutes later, his phone screen lit up as a call ca in and he picked up imdiately.

"What did you find out"

On the other end of the phone, Johnson reported his findings. "The Villa belongs to the Wyatts. They bought the place two years ago when President Jason ca to Baltimore to take over as the President of Wyatt Corporations."

"Also..." Johnson hesitated as he didn’t know how to continue the next set of words.

"Speak up." Shawn commanded impatiently.

"Madam has been seen on many occasions since she ca back, going in and out of the Villa. It is most likely she lives there."

Shawn’s already cold face went sour and the atmosphere in the car dropped several degrees lower.

The driver in front peered at his boss through the rear mirror as he instinctively felt cold all of a sudden.

"Got it."

Johnson released a gust of air he didn’t know he was holding when he heard those two words.

However, after hanging up, Shawn closed his eyes tightly as if he was trying to shut out the reality staring him in the face.

’Has Kathleen been living with Jason all these while? What is the depth of their relationship?’

He could look away from the years when he didn’t know she was alive, but now he knows.

The painful thing is that despite having the understanding that he is now aware of her existence, Kathleen still has the heart to cohabit with another man right under his nose. Leaving him, her legal husband longing for her in pain and misery, every second of the day.’

’I’m nothing but a sad joke. Here I was fooling myself that she would forgive

and co back to , if I continue to persist.

’Open your eyes Shawn, she has moved on and already started a life without you.’

’And the couple she was with, who are they? Although I didn’t see their faces but from their gait and dressing, they were not young couples.’

’Could they be Jason’s parents that she ca to pick up from the airport? If so, does that an they are aware and approve of her relationship with their son?’

So many thoughts kept bombarding his mind and none seed to offer an iota of comfort or relief to his aching soul.

He wrung his hands through his hair and roared.

The roar caught the driver off guard causing him to swerve the car off the road and within a hair’s breadth, missed an electric pole by the side of the road.

He breathed a sigh of relief when he successfully swerved back onto the road and didn’t hit anything.

"Please forgive

boss," he apologized without any hope of getting forgiveness seeing that his boss was already in a terrible mood.

He felt an icy glare bore into his back and his body broke out in cold sweat.

He has been working with Shawn for a long ti now and knew that anyone who offended him when he was in this state was a goner. It will only take divine intervention for the person to be spared.

He waited for his judgnt in apprehension but miraculously didn’t hear anything.

He cautiously glanced at the rear mirror again but saw his boss’s head buried in his hand and Dr Steffan slipping a pill into his partially shut mouth.
