Chapter 68: Does She Hate

That Much?

As Kathleen propped up old Mrs Hudson’s head to make it easier for her to feed her with the dicine, everyone’s eyes were filled with both admiration and deep reverence.

Old Mrs Hudson’s maid was the most affected as she couldn’t stop shedding tears of joy.

Kathleen, who was already used to such reactions, was focused on the task at hand and paid no attention to them.

Her movents were gentle as she slowly fed old Mrs Hudson with the dicine before helping her to lie back on the bed.

"Among the dicine I’ve prepared, are so that will make her sleep more," she explained.

"She will be sleeping more often within the next few days so that her body can recover faster."

Her gorgeous purple eyes flickered among them to confirm they were paying attention and not just obsessed over her.

"Nobody should disturb her as she will be more conscious of her surroundings now and slight noises will irritate her," Kathleen patiently instructed.

Her gaze rested on the Nutritionist, "Please follow the plan for her diet as I have written out. If there is anything you are not sure about, contact

imdiately. Don’t assu anything. Is that understood?"

The nutritionist kept nodding repeatedly.

Dr Sullivan naturally had no objections as he also nodded in agreent. "Don’t worry. They will comply with all your instructions regarding the treatnt."

After ascertaining her condition one last ti, Kathleen began to pack her things.

"I have to take my leave then. Don’t forget to call

if you notice even the tiniest thing out of the ordinary."

***************

Three hours later, Shawn had just stepped out of a board eting with the higher ups of Hudson Corps when Johnson, his assistant, approached him. His face was as gloomy as soone headed for the slaughter.

"When did you suddenly turn mute?" Shawn’s tone was terse as he sensed he was not going to like whatever Johnson had to say, judging from his facial expression.

"Dr Sullivan called while you were in the eting."

He strode to his office, his back straight and imposing like a king walking through his kingdom.

"Did he say why he was calling? I guess he called to remind

of Nana’s treatnt."

"Technically," Johnson answered in a wavering tone.

"I need to head ho now before Kathleen gets there."

Shawn stopped abruptly at the door to his office. His forehead furrowing in a frown. "Hold on, what do you an by, technically?"

"Em.."

’Why do I always have to be the bearer of bad news? I would gladly exchange my position right now with the cleaner,’ Johnson groaned inwardly.

Those people always envy him as the Assistant to the President but little do they know that he had to be careful even when taking his breath around him.

"Speak," Shawn said impatiently, his hunch growing stronger by the minute.

"She left already." Johnson finally said and waited for the volcano to erupt and probably drown him.

"She what?!"

Johnson’s gaze was fixed on the floor as he answered. "Dr Sullivan wanted to know why you were not available for the treatnt."

Shawn was taken aback by the statent.

"Quick put

through to Dr Sullivan." He ordered, flunging his jacket on the chair.

Johnson hastened to make the call and on the second ring, Dr Sullivan’s voice ca through.

"This is Johnson Scoot, please hold on for my boss."

"What happened Sir? We didn’t see you at the manor today." Dr Sullivan asked as soon as he confird it was President Hudson on the line.

"What are you talking about?" Shawn barked, his face crimson with rage. "The treatnt was scheduled for this evening, what the heck happened to change that?"

Shawn’s voice sent chills coursing down Dr Sullivan’s spine on the other side of the phone. He was grateful it was a telephone conversation otherwise he wouldn’t know how he died.

Even without seeing him, he stamred through his response. "Dr Janice called to notify .. this... this mo..morning about the change in the ti and I assud she would have done the sa with you. Or didn’t she inform you?"

From President Hudson’s tone, it was clear Dr Janice didn’t contact him on the change in ti and he sohow felt it was a deliberate act.

He seriously didn’t understand the ga these two were playing. But whatever it was, he didn’t want to be caught in the middle. ’I can’t afford to offend any of them.’

"Are you saying you were there with her and you are back?"

"Yes and..."

He was still speaking when he heard a dull disengaging tone from his phone. His eyes narrowed and he brought the phone from his ear to look at the screen. "He ended the call. Just like that?"

"All these wealthy people, they just do things without thinking how it affects others." He snorted and returned back to deal with the case he was previously handling before the call ca in.

Shawn, who was oblivious of the fact that he has implicated all the wealthy people by his actions, was pacing the length of his office.

It suddenly dawned on him. "Damn!" he roared and swept the things on the table down, his chest rising and falling in rapid breaths.

"I’m sure it is all the sche of that heartless woman. She knew I was looking forward to seeing her all week and deliberately moved the ti so I don’t get to see her."

’Does she hate

that much?’

His head hung low and he ran a hand through his neatly styled hair.

With the joy that he was going to et her, he had put in extra effort to look especially good today. He even wore her favorite sky blue shirt inside a customized navy blue suit just to please her.

The man he had seen in the mirror before stepping out this morning was not only dashingly handso but his eyes had a luminous glow that has been missing in them for years. Was it all for nothing?
