Chapter 56: Hang Out With The Gold Digger

When Shawn arrived at Dr Sullivan’s office, he t only Kathleen and Dr Sullivan, Steffan and the other doctor were no longer there.

Without waiting to be offered a seat, he pulled out a chair and sat down close to Kathleen as if it was the natural thing to do.

Seeing Shawn’s action, Kathleen was about to move her seat further away but stopped when she saw the challenging look in Shawn’s eyes.

The voice of Dr Sullivan brought her distracted mind back to the discussion.

"What do you have to say, Goddess?" Dr Sullivan asked without realizing he had called her Goddess in Shawn’s presence.

’Goddess?’ Shawn’s eyebrows rose in surprise at the address. ’Even you have been caught in her web,’ he chuckled slightly and leaned back into his chair, his legs crossed over each other.

"Sorry, I didn’t get your thoughts. Can you repeat what you said?" Kathleen replied, looking away from Shawn’s lazy posture and the mischievous smile on his face after hearing Dr Sullivan call her Goddess.

Oblivious of the ruckus he had caused, Dr Sullivan repeated, "I was asking where the treatnt would take place and if you need more people to assist you."

He noticed that Kathleen was distracted by Shawn and still wondered what the story between them was.

"I’ll be needing about two or three nurses who will constantly keep their eyes on the patient. As for where to use...," she turned her head to Shawn, "the Hudson Manor would have been okay if there are no objections from the family mbers."

Hearing the Hudson Manor ntioned, Shawn sat up and beca serious, instantly discarding his playful deanor. "Is it about my grandmother? What’s the result of the test?"

"With the lymph node biopsy we did, we were able to establish a definitive diagnosis after ruling out other variations of the disease. It’s been confird that she has Idiopathic multicentric Castleman disease.

"So is she going to be okay?" Shawn was not bothered about understanding those long dical jargons. All he needed to know was if his Nana’s life will be saved.

"Of course she will be alright." Kathleen interacted with him the sa way she would with the family mber of any other patient.

She was professional in her approach and patiently explained everything to his understanding.

"Like I told you in the manor, she can still be saved. Luckily she has not gotten to the last stage, which would have been more dangerous and difficult to treat."

"When can the treatnt comnce?" Shawn asked, relieved at her words.

"Before the weekend." She turned her attention back to Dr Sullivan, "How far have you gone with the things I asked you to arrange?"

"They are shipping them in today and will be transferred to the Hudson’s manor as soon as they arrive. That’s if we are still using there." Dr Sullivan glanced at Shawn as he has not yet given any concrete answer to that question.

"We will be using the Hudson’s manor," Shawn stated matter-of-factly.

"I don’t know if the condition there will be favorable enough for

to carry out my assignnt without unnecessary interference from well wishers." As she said this, Kathleen’s eyes were focused on Shawn the whole ti.

Shawn understood Kathleen’s aning and quickly promised. "I’ve done what I needed to do and I assure you, you will not encounter any unpleasant situations."

After the show Joanne put up during Kathleen’s visit to the house, Shawn made so calls as soon as Kathleen left before going about his other engagents.

He thought back on what transpired between him and his mom this morning before Steffan ca to collect the sample for the biopsy.

He was preparing to set out for the day’s business when his mother stord into his room without considering that he was a grown man and needed his own privacy.

"Don’t think I don’t know what you are trying to do," with a heaving chest, she pointed a finger at him. "You want to send

away so that you can freely hang out with that gold digger."

Shawn was speechless as he didn’t expect her to connect the sudden turn of events to him so quickly. "What did I do this ti around?" he asked, feigning ignorance.

He knew his mother had been planning a tour with her friends for so ti now, but they have all been busy and kept postponing the trip as they could not all go together.

So all he had to do was call them and made so mouth watering offers that they were unable to resist. He then arranged a three month all expense paid African tour for them so that his mother will not be available to pose any problem in the course of the treatnt, especially at the initial stage.

Looking at Shawn’s calm expression while knotting his tie, Joanne’s fury was fueled, especially when he pretended not to know what she was talking about.

"So, you don’t know what I’m talking about, hmm?"

A quirked eyebrow was all the answer Shawn gave her.

"Now tell , how would you explain it when all of a sudden, my three friends who have never been free to travel for even a week calls to inform

that they were ready for the tour I’ve been trying for ages to convince them to go on?"

"Then, the tourist agency we were to go with, sends

a notice out of the blues that the tour has been approved and they will be setting off in two days ti?" Her arms were at akimbo as she presented her argunts.

"Who else but a calculating unfilial son like you would successfully make such an aweso move?" And I am convinced that it all has to do with Kathleen, but she did not add that last part.

She felt there was sothing fishy about the whole thing, but on the other hand, the tour was too tempting for soone like her who liked adventures to outrightly refuse.
