Chapter 360: Go Look For Your Wet Nurse

Steffan couldn’t believe the only woman he was beginning to feel sothing for despite not knowing the previous relationship they had in the past could be this callous.

Was it that she was just pretending about her feelings each ti they kissed or she sincerely doesn’t take him seriously.

He had been so engrossed with work that he spent an entire week in his apartnt in the hospital and hadn’t had ti to go ho.

Who would have expected that as soon as he ca ho tonight, everybody in the family was talking about the competition. Even little Danny knew about it and even had sothing to say about the competition except him.

Did she take him as her plaything that she would only go to whenever she was in the mood to play?

Lauren released an exaggerated yawn before saying, "Dr Steffan Rosse, please I’m dead tired from today’s events. If you’re seriously in need of soone to exchange words with, go look for your wet nurse. I believe she’ll be very eager to indulge you, and considering how late it is, no one will disturb you two," she spat viciously.

Steffan’s nose flared almost imdiately and he scread with clenched teeth. "Lauren!"

This woman sure has such a poisonous tongue that could drive any rational man insane in seconds.

She actually called Dolly a wet nurse. Yes, Dolly was always around him but she had told her tis without number that there was nothing going on between them. What could she an by calling a Dolly a we nurse?

"Do you know what that word ans?" Steffan asked in disbelief.

That aside, why was she suddenly tired when it was his own turn to speak with her? She was chatting animatedly with everyone just now. Does she really not care about him and couldn’t withstand his voice?

Before he could express his displeasure, he heard,

"I believe you’re not in any way insinuating that I’m illiterate?" Lauren sneered.

What else should she call a woman who will shalessly take up the role of another woman to carefully and diligently nurse another woman’s fiancé when the fiancée was very much available?

She was suddenly in a good mood to tease the annoying man. If he had really cared about her, he should have found out from the first day.

But it was obvious he hadn’t even asked after her all these while, if not his family would have told him about the competition.

But that was not her concern for now, she had more important things to think about and that was why she had not really felt his absence.

"What else do you want

to call a woman who brandishes her assets in front of you all day?"

Steffan was speechless, then he suddenly smiled, "are you jealous?"

Lauren smirked, "jealous, why should I be jealous when I have nothing to do with you?"

"Whether you have anything to do with

or not, you know best. After all you’re the one that have been suggesting otherwise, but I’ll let this slide for now."

"Otherwise, what would you have done? Co over to prove to

that I have sothing to do with you?"

"Why do I feel like you actually want

to co over?" Steffan asked in a teasing tone.

"Is that why you’ve been bitter all these while and saying all those baseless stuff... you miss , right?"

Lauren let out a low chuckle. "Stop fooling yourself, I barely have the ti to miss more important people in my life, why will I miss soone who is clearly not my boyfriend?"

The smile on Steffan’s face widened. "The way you respond so passionately to my kisses doesn’t show you have a boyfriend. Or does he not have what it takes to make you feel the way I do?" Steffan threw back as the scene where they have been entangled in his office and at the restroom at The Masters Place replayed in his mind.

"Is that why you are so enarmoured with my family, clinging on to them and using every ans possible to try to provoke

all the ti? So I can give you what you can’t get from him?" This ti it was the picture of George’s handso image that appeared in his eyes as he spoke.

As Lauren listened to Steffan whom she believed had changed so much, her face flushed red, fortunately, she was all alone in her room.

Where and when did he learn to say such things? Is he still the soft spoken man she had fallen in love with or was it not just his mory that was affected by the gunshot?

She opened her mouth to refute but no words ca out.

She had intended to give him a hard ti and never envisage she would be the one left speechless by Steffan’s rebuttal.

As she was still thinking of what to say, Steffan’s voice sounded.

"Since my family are doing so much in your support, I guess I can only inform you that you shouldn’t disappoint them as they will be so heartbroken that you’ll need to co over to console them personally and I bet that will be more than you can handle. I won’t mind helping you, but that’s only if you ask

nicely and make

happy," Steffan said smugly.

After listening to him, Lauren directly hung up the call and angrily prepared for bed.

Even the maid that brought her favorite bedti snack, was surprised at the glare she received instead of the warm "thank you, you’re a darling," she always got from Lauren.

The next day dawned bright and fair and Lauren woke up refreshed after a good night’s rest despite Steffan’s effort to get on her nerves the previous night.

She got herself ready and the person who volunteered to be her driver for the day was none other than her wonderful brother, Killian who finally realized that he had a kid sister.

"Hey, sis, ready for the big day?" Killian called out, leaning against his sleek, customized Chevrolet.

"I was born ready," Lauren boasted, sliding into the owner’s corner of her brother’s unique ride.

Outwardly, it appeared like any ordinary vehicle, but once inside, it was clear this was no ordinary car.

The interior was a blend of luxury and high-tech sophistication. The seats were upholstered in plush black leather, with red stitching that added a touch of elegance.

Hidden compartnts and sleek panels housed advanced surveillance equipnt, including small monitors that could display live feeds from external caras.

A discreet, retractable laptop was built into the dashboard, ready for any ergency operation Killian might encounter.

The windows were tinted, offering privacy, and could turn opaque at the touch of a button.

"Nice ride," Lauren said, running her hand over the smooth leather of the seat.

"Thanks, sis," Killian replied, starting the engine. The car purred to life, and they pulled out of the driveway.

"So, how’s the competition been?" Killian asked, glancing at her as they navigated through the morning traffic.

"Intense," Lauren admitted. "But it’s been fun. The second day Signature Drink Challenge was a blast. Our team won with full marks with great feedback from the judges."
