Chapter 166: That’s Our Mom Beside You.
Seeing the dreamy look on the senior doctor’s face, Steffan already had a vague idea but he didn’t want to jump to conclusions.
"Who exactly are we talking about!"
Dr Sullivan was amused at how excited Steffan was. "From the glint in your eyes I suspect you have made a guess already."
"Is it Dr Janice we are talking about here?" Steffan was as excited as a child on Christmas eve, waiting for dawn to finally unwrap his parcel.
A faint smile from Dr Sullivan confird that his guess was right.
"But her visit should be kept a secret," he warned.
"Just a few of you are privy to that information as she doesn’t want her private life being interrupted."
"You know you can trust ." That was a simple matter. If it entails he arrange for her disguise, he would gladly keep her away from any prying eyes.
"I know I can trust you and that is why I am telling you about it."
"Thanks so so much. You don’t know how long I’ve waited just to see her. Shawn even promised ..."
He stopped all of a sudden and Dr Sullivan couldn’t help but quirk his brow.
"What exactly is going on with you two?" he inquired.
Steffan had an evasive look as he stared at the table. "I’d rather not talk about it, if you don’t mind."
"Whatever it is I wish you both can resolve it soon, you know, I have always admired your friendship over the years."
Steffan harrumphed and not long afterwards, left the office after concluding on their discussion about the operation with Dr Sullivan.
*******
The following day as Kathleen had promised the two children, they set out on the special visit. They were accompanied by Jason, Cheryl and Lauren whom she had also shared the plans with.
At the gate of the recreational center which had been booked for the entire day just to host the children, they all waited for Jason to complete formalities for them to enter.
All of a sudden, Eleanor yelled excitedly, pointing at a particular direction. "Sophia and her parents are also here."
Kathleen smiled, following the direction Eleanor was pointing and spotted a bright and energetic girl with her parents not far from where they were.
"That’s wonderful, Eleanor, let’s go say hi"
As they approached, Sophia noticed them and scread excitedly, "Mom, look! It’s Eleanor and Elvis! My friends from kindergarten!"
Candace looked up and saw a small group coming their way. One was Dr Janice whom they already knew and the other was a stranger, probably one of the people Dr Janice had told them about that would be partnering with them.
It’s been only less than a day when they last saw themselves but the two girls still jumped for joy when they saw each other again. They embraced and started chattering away, giggling nonstop.
Candace looked from the two excited girls to Kathleen. "Dr Janice, it’s so lovely to see you again."
"Sa here, Candace. Hello Stanley," Kathleen greeted the couple warmly.
"Dr Janice," Stanley Rosse responded with a bow and stared at the little boy whom he felt he had seen sowhere.
But before he could bring himself to think about it, he was interrupted by his wife’s voice.
"Hello, sweethearts. What a pleasant surprise. I didn’t know you would also be coming."
"Good morning Mrs Rosse. We ca with our mom," Elvis answered politely.
"Your Mom?" It was then she rembered the woman standing beside Kathleen. So she is the children’s mom.
"You must be..."
"Forgive my manners Candace," Kathleen hurriedly said. "et my friend Lauren Hols. I told you about her on the phone."
"Hello, Mrs Rosse, hello Mr Rosse," Lauren extended her hand which Candace readily shook.
"You can call
Candace. Nice to et you and I’m so grateful you agreed to support the foundation."
"It’s the least I could do for humanity," Lauren laughed dismissively.
But Candace’s attention had already drifted to Elvis’s previous response. "Where’s your mom?" she asked.
Elvis was confused. ’Was sothing wrong with Sophia’s mom’s eyes? Couldn’t she see their mom standing right in front of her?’
"That’s our mom beside you," he said in what sounded like a pitiful voice.
Beside her was actually Kathleen and she suddenly rembered what she said the first ti they t that she was a mother of two.
Could she be the mother of these children? What would that make her then?
Her eyes widened inexplicably as realization hit her but she cleverly turned it around to avoid Dr Janice’s suspicion.
"Don’t tell
you are the mother of these lovely angels. No wonder, I couldn’t stop admiring them. It turns out they inherited such outstanding looks from you."
If Kathleen could see her heart this minute she would be shocked at the thought going on in there.
Any trace of doubt she had had about the relationship between Shawn and the two children was instantly cleared at this mont. Not after seeing the two together on the news and Dr Janice affirming to being the mother of the two children.
’So the news about them was true. She didn’t expect that Dr Janice would turn out to be the sa as Shawn’s wife and the mother of those two wonderful children.’
She couldn’t help but imagine the look on her brother-in-law’s face when she tells him that she had found out the identity of the mother of Shawn’s children.
Unaware that all wasn’t as smooth as it appeared on the surface with Candace, Kathleen smiled in relief.
For a mont she actually thought that Candace would ask her about the resemblance between Shawn and the children.
"You flatter , Candace. I’d say the sa of you too. You are indeed very beautiful and can turn heads effortlessly any day and at any ti."
Stanley didn’t know what to think of the two won who kept flattering themselves back and forth.
"We can all go in now." Jason who had just joined them with Cheryl said.
