Chapter 162: Is Aunt Lauren A Vampire?

They chatted on and on until Kathleen pulled up at the kindergarten parking lot. They didn’t have to wait for long before the children ca out to et them at the pickup area.

"Mom!" The two children ran forward and were caught in their mother’s embrace.

After their little bonding ti, Kathleen took their hands and they headed to the car.

Beside the car they saw a gorgeous auntie with long glossy black hair that cascaded down her shoulders.

Two lovely dimples appeared on Lauren’s beautiful cheeks when she saw the two children staring at her in disbelief.

The first to react was Eleanor who asked in a skeptical voice, "Aunt Lauren?"

"That’s

sweetheart, are you surprised to see ?" She grinned as she bent down and scooped the stunned Eleanor in her arms.

They had only communicated with her on Skype and this was the first ti they were eting physically.

Eleanor nodded vigorously to Lauren’s question and continued to stare at her.

Aunt Lauren was the only person she could compare to her mommy in terms of looks, but of course her mother still ca out as the most beautiful in her eyes.

"Hello Aunt Lauren," Elvis greeted in his little but firm voice.

He held great respect for his mother’s friend whom she had told them was like a sister to her and had stood by her when she was very poor and had nothing in the past.

"My darling, you are even more handso now that I see you physically than you were on cara. I have a feeling all the girls in your class are not going to have a peaceful life," Lauren eyed Elvis with a playful wink as she admired the little boy who was already so eye-catching and handso like his father.

Elvis who always carried a poker face actually blushed as he mumbled, "Thank you, Aunt Lauren."

"Hey! Watch what you say to my children, they are still so young and innocent." Kathleen warned.

Lauren’s eyes sparkled with interest at Kathleen’s words. "Look at you acting all protective like "mother hen. Don’t forget they are also my godchildren."

She ignored Kathleen and turned her attention back to Elvis.

"Co over and give godmother a hug. I’ve missed both of you for so long and have been dreaming of this mont every single day."

Kathleen rolled her eyes and looked heavenward. "Here cos Drama Queen Number 1."

"Whatever," hissed Lauren who felt this was a very emotional period of bonding with her godchildren, yet Kathleen was making light of the whole situation.

Eleanor caught that and it sohow rang a bell in her mind. All of a sudden her eyes widened in awe. ’So she was the one mummy was referring to that day.’

"What are you still waiting for? Co on," Lauren urged Elvis whom he expected by now would have been feeling her heartbeat for such a wonderful reunion.

On the norms, Elvis wouldn’t get close to anyone except for mbers of his household and of course Aunt Cheryl, so when he heard her mother’s friend requesting for a hug he was doubtless reluctant and didn’t respond.

"Hey, what’s with the attitude? Don’t tell

you are also like that poker faced fath..."

A fierce warning glare from Kathleen made her instinctively swallow the rest of her words.

But it was already too late as she had unconsciously given a fresh lead to the observant Elvis with that unfinished statent.

With the intention of getting close to her to get what he needed, Elvis forced himself to give her a hug much to Kathleen and Eleanor’s astonishnt.

Not only Eleanor and Kathleen, but Elvis was also surprised that hugging her was not as repulsive as he had imagined it would be.

Although it wasn’t as comfortable as the hug from his imdiate family mbers, it was still ok, almost on the sa level as a hug from Aunt Cheryl.

Maybe it was because he already saw her as his mother’s distant sister, he thought.

He released a deep breath. ’I guess a cooperation with this Aunt would not be a bad idea after all.’

"Can we go now?" Kathleen said, opening the car door.

"Can’t you see I’m still bonding with my godchildren?"

"When you finish bonding you can all hail a taxi and et

at ho. The children already know the route." She left them to open her car.

Seeing the new car their mother was entering, the children’s eyes lit up.

"Mom, is that new car yours?"

"What do you think?" Kathleen’s chin lifted up smugly as she retorted.

"I thought I might give you a ride in it but on second thought I would rather not interrupt your bonding ti with your "GODMOTHER"

Lauren caught up with her and cupped Kathleen’s face in both of her hands, her brown eyes scrutinizing her face, then her mouth opened in feigned surprise.

"I can see so green shades on different parts of your face. Don’t tell

you are jealous."

Kathleen slapped her hands away with a scoff. "How ridiculous. How can I be jealous? You are only their godmother." She said emphatically.

"Humph!" Lauren snorted. "But you can’t deny that there is still a "mother" attached to it," she argued back.

"Whatever."

After ensuring that everyone was safely seated, Kathleen started the ignition and they finally left the school premises.

On their way back, they passed by Hudson Corporations and the children did not fail to admire the building. It was almost becoming a habit which Kathleen herself couldn’t even break.

Listening to the children’s excited voices, Lauren glanced at Kathleen then whispered in a voice that can be heard by just the two of them.

"Do they know who the owner is?"

Another warning look from Kathleen which seed to be telling her, "can’t you see that this is not the right place and ti to discuss this?" made her recoil back to rest her back on her seat.

From her seat she also shot Kathleen a look which said, "so bossy!"

"Mom, can you take us sowhere to eat? It’s been a long ti since we ate together," Eleanor requested.

"I would have loved to, baby, but your uncle Jason would be coming back today, and we need to get ready to welco him."

"Really!" bead Eleanor. "I don’t want to eat again. Let’s go ho imdiately."

"Are you sure about that?" Kathleen turned back briefly and saw the excitent on Eleanor’s face.

Does she really miss Jason that much that she could easily put aside her yearnings just to see him again?

The renowned foodie was actually giving up her al for her beloved uncle. This is interesting.

"Yeah, yeah. Uncle Jason has been away for so long and I miss him a lot."

"Are we going to pick him up from the airport?" Elvis had also missed his uncle and couldn’t wait to see him.

"No. His flight will be arriving much later in the evening, so we need to go and prepare for his return." Kathleen replied.

She didn’t tell them Cheryl was the one to pick him up from the airport and they shouldn’t get in the way of the couple as they haven’t seen each other for a long ti.

Lauren was not different from the children as she also turned to stare at Kathleen with an enchanted smile. "If I’m not mistaken, the person you are talking about is President Jason, right?"

"Mm-hmm," Kathleen answered nonchalantly.

"You an soone that important will be coming and you want to stow

away and miss out on such a wonderful opportunity to et President Jason of Wyatt Corporations. I never knew you could be this heartless, Kathleen," whined Lauren.

Kathleen was speechless. "Don’t be such a crybaby. You can always et him anyti apart from today."

"Why not today?" Lauren demanded, her face scrunched up in anger.

"You have to show yourself to your parents first, rember?" Kathleen’s answer ca as if it was already prepared beforehand.

"Why burden my eyes with an old couple when my eyes can have the pleasure of feeding on fresh blood."

"I didn’t know you had vampire eyes. I will make sure to keep my brother away from you in the future."

"Is Aunt Lauren a vampire? Is she going to suck Uncle Jason’s blood?" Eleanor asked in clipped tones. The fear could be easily read from her facial expression.

’She had been hugged for such a long ti by Aunt Lauren just now. What if she had been bitten by her unknowingly.’

Elvis, who seed to have read his sister’s thoughts, quickly comforted. "She is not a vampire. Stop having those weird thoughts."

"But Aunt Lauren just said..."

"She didn’t an it that way and was actually joking with mommy." Elvis explained patiently.

If she was truly a vampire he was sure their mother would not be friends with her, nor expose them to her.
