Chapter 102: This Is Just The Beginning

Soone snorted. "Being from the Beazell family doesn’t give them the right to act presumptuously."

Linda and her mother could only listen in silence despite the rage burning within them. Mrs Beazell had never felt this humiliated in her entire life.

Of course they blad it all on Kathleen. It was all Kathleen’s fault.

Never once did they think that they were to bla in the whole thing. As far as Mrs Beazell was concerned, she was just venting for her daughter.

While they were still wallowing in self justification, Kathleen spoke to the manager to the hearing of everyone.

"If you don’t mind Manager, I will be needing a copy of the footage to know what legal action to take against all those that accused

without concrete evidence."

At her words, everyone sobered up and rembered they were not fair to her at all. Judging her fiercely without any scruples.

"What! She wants to take legal action against us?"

"But it was all a misunderstanding."

Soone among them who was still rational stepped towards Kathleen. "We are very sorry for falsely accusing you. Can you please forgive us?"

"Yes, it was a huge misunderstanding that we failed to discern the truth and accused you blindly."

One after the other they stepped forward to beg for forgiveness.

Kathleen listened to them silently until one said,

"Please be the sensible one and forgive us."

"So if I don’t forgive you, I will not be seen as sensible?" she asked, her purple eyes resting on the man with a sneer.

"Putting it blandly, I must forgive you whether I am willing or not just because I want to be sensible, right?"

"Don’t think you can coerce

into doing what I don’t want to. Afterall I am vicious and arrogant."

The one who had called Kathleen vicious before the revelation from the footage, felt a chill down his spine.

"Young lady, I admit I was very foolish and couldn’t tell right from wrong. Please show rcy," he begged.

"Why are you feeling all high and mighty? Who do you think you are? Having everyone beg you like you are the emperor."

Everyone turned to the source of the voice in anger. Undoubtedly, it was Mrs Beazell who had just spoken.

"Really? You still have the mouth to talk after your shaful behavior?" The person that just apologized to Kathleen spat out.

"And so what? She is just a re gold digger that has used her face to climb up. What else can she do compared to the power of the Beazell family?"

"It is a sha that all of you are all spineless dogs licking her miserable feet as if your lives depended on it."

Her statents undoubtedly caused an uproar among the people, their eyes were filled with undisguised indignation."

"Mom," hissed Linda in dismay. "What are you doing?"

She glanced at the crowd, saw their furious expressions, "Let’s leave imdiately," she whispered and tried to take her mother out of the café before things got out of control.

Just as they took the first step, so police officers rushed in, to the astonishnt of everyone.

"So quick? When did she send for the cops?"

Believing the cops had arrived in response to Mrs Beazell’s summons, they were all scared.

"Why didn’t I check my horoscope today to know that it was a bad day for

to go out?"

Their eyes widened in shock when instead of commanding everybody to file out as they feared, the cops nodded at Kathleen who likewise returned the greeting with a curt nod.

Then soone who was probably their leader asked in a no nonsense voice, "Who is Mrs Beazell?"

As if they had rehearsed the scene prior to that mont, everyone unanimously pointed to the pale-faced Mrs Beazell who was trying to dodge behind her daughter as soon as she heard her na.

At the cop’s approach, Mrs Beazell had no choice but to discard her thoughts of hiding.

"You are under arrest for an assassination attempt on the life of Ms Kathleen Crawford. It is advisable to remain silent as whatever you say here may be used against you in the court of law."

"What?"

"Holy Mo!"

"This is incredible!"

Different exclamations erupted from different quarters.

Mrs Beazell, who had already been handcuffed, stopped in front of Kathleen, glaring straight at her, nothing like the woman that was groaning in pain a few minutes back.

Kathleen was not one to be intimidated either, especially by soone like Mrs Beazell. For all she cared, Mrs Beazell was nothing but a joke.

Therefore she stood squarely, legs apart, hands folded across her chest, and with a more daunting look stared unflinchingly into Mrs Beazell’s murderous eyes.

They both glared at each other, none of them speaking. The atmosphere was tense and one could feel an undercurrent of resentnt flowing between them.

"Take her away," Kathleen ordered and the cops stepped forward.

"This is not over yet," Mrs Beazell gnarled and turned on her heels to follow the cops to the waiting van outside the café.

Linda finally recovered from her trance and shouted, rushing after them.

"No! My mother is not a murderer. You’ve got the wrong person."

She held onto the door handle, refusing her mother from entering into the car.

"Mom. Why are you saying nothing?" She yelled, tears streaming down her face.

"Tell them you are innocent. They can’t take you away."

"Go ho. I’ll be fine," Mrs Beazell managed to say and her eyes grew dark with indescribable emotions as she saw her daughter crying so miserably.

She raised her handcuffed hands to wipe the tears coursing down her daughter’s face before lowering her head to get into the car.

Linda watched helplessly as the car carrying her mother, her backbone and greatest ally disappeared from her sight, then collapsed in a heap onto the ground.

"Now that she has been taken away, what am I going to do? How did things turn out like this?" she lanted.

Kathleen rely threw a glance at the disheveled figure on the ground. The last thing she felt was pity for her.

"This is just the beginning," she smirked and headed back into the café.
