Chapter 80: Night’s Failed Birthday Celebration
"Oya? Who’s this?" Makoto saw this chance to tease
again. "Is this Noelle’s forr lover? And I didn’t know your nickna is Ellie. How amusing." He said with a wide smile on his face. ’Can he stop? Honestly, I don’t want to hear this guy’s voice any more than this.’
El just then noticed that I’m with people he doesn’t know. "Oh, I apologize for disturbing your ti with your family." He said. ’Oh god, I can feel Night’s gaze on
and I don’t want this feeling at all.’ I thought as I smile. "I just want to wish you a happy new year. See you next ti." I smiled at him and he left with the person he was with.
"Who was that, onee-chan?"
"Yeah, who was that?" Makoto added with a grin on his face. "Would Noelle explain it to us, even if we’re just the family of your husband?" Makoto emphasized the word ’husband’ causing
to grimace. It’s like he’s forcing
to say who El was just because they’re Night’s relatives.
"Stop harassing Noelle," Himari said as she pulled Makoto’s ear. "I’ll apologize for that." She said.
"Was that your friend?" Shiho asked. ’Now I’m in the hot seat. Thank you, El.’ I thought.
"Yeah, his na was El."
The atmosphere beca awkward because of Night’s silence, although he’s always quiet. Everyone thinks he’s affected because of El. "Anyway, we’ll be staying in the Philippines till February," Himari said, changing the topic. "Does Shiho wants to go sowhere while Noelle and Night are still on sester break?" Wait, what about Taka and Mizuki? They probably need to go back to school so how will they stay till February?
"Mizuki will go back, Tomoe onee-chan will go and fetch us," Mizuki said with a smile. "I’ll be eting onee-chan again during the sumr break."
"Who said you’ll be able to co back here?" Taka said which made the two start bickering.
Night stood up from his seat. "Let’s go to the VIP room." He said and we followed him since he was the one paying for the food. ’But what is his problem?’ I thought as we enter the VIP room. Mizuki and Taka seem to be enjoying themselves, but I can’t say the sa about myself. Although all I need is for Shiho to enjoy it since she’s Night’s younger sister and they’ve been far away from each other for so long.
"What is onee-chan’s favorite food? Mine is ice cream." Mizuki said as soon as she sat beside .
"That’s a dessert," Taka said.
"Desserts are food too."
They were going to argue, but the food arrived and Himari told them to drop it off. "Let’s not be rude in front of these foods." She said, and the two agreed.
We started eating but I can still feel Makoto’s gaze on . It’s like he wants to say sothing but he knows that he shouldn’t say it so he’s staring at
to make
comfortable and ask him what it is. ’But I won’t ask him.’
"Isn’t it great that Noelle has other handso friends? Does it bother you, Night?" Makoto still went on and said that. ’He really doesn’t know how to control himself huh? I’m amazed that Night hasn’t beaten him up yet.’
"Eat your food and shut up," Himari said. It should have been a peaceful lunch with everyone, but because of El’s unexpected appearance, and Makoto’s teasing, everything’s ruined. Night’s not smiling either, I an he’s always not smiling but right now I can feel how much he wants to reprimand . ’If that’s not my imagination, that is.’
The silence must have been suffocating for Shiho who can’t see our expressions. "Does Shiho goes to school?" I asked since I don’t want her to feel left out.
"Yes, I receive education from Himari." She answered with that bright smile. "It’s not bad at all, I sotis go on a trip with Himari and the others." Who does she an ’the others’?
The server of the desserts ca inside our room. "We apologize but we only have one strawberry sherbet for today." He said. I’m the one who ordered the strawberry sherbet but I think I can have the peach one.
"You can have it, Noelle," Shiho said but I don’t think that’ll be fair. I’ve learned that Shiho loves strawberry-flavored foods. If it’s not strawberry, she can’t eat it. "I’m fine with the peach one." She said but there’s no way I can do that.
I giggled. "Actually, the mint chocolate’s my favorite so I’ll go with that."
Shiho turned to Himari as if conflicted. "B-But you ordered the strawberry sherbet too."
It’s not that I can’t eat anything else but strawberry sherbet today, it’s just I crave it right now. "It’s fine. I can eat it sowhere else." I said and a smile quickly form on Shiho’s face. Seeing her smile is more worth it than eating that strawberry sherbet.
"R-Really? Uhm, does anyone want the strawberry sherbet?" Shiho asked everyone.
"Mizuki likes chocolate," Mizuki said while already eating her chocolate ice cream.
With that, Shiho ended up having the strawberry sherbet and I feel happy just seeing her enjoy her food. "You’re already 18 years old, aren’t you Noelle?" Makoto asked while we were eating our desserts.
"Yes, why?" I tried to smile even though I don’t really want to talk to him.
"Nothing." Makoto giggled and it was really weird. We ignored him while Kaoru told
that Andy’s sowhere inside the restaurant. ’Oh my god. Can’t I please get so rest even for a little? Why is everyone here?’ I thought as I looked at everyone. I hope we can leave now but Mizuki’s still eating her fill.
’How am I going to make everyone leave so that Andy won’t see us here? He’ll surely bombard
with questions if he saw
with Night!’
"Are you alright, onee-chan?" Mizuki said with chocolates on the side of her mouth. "Do you want so?"
I smiled as I wiped her mouth. "I’m fine, maybe a little stomachache from eating too much?" I said as an excuse.
"You didn’t even eat much," Himari said. "Is there sothing wrong? Do you want to go ho now?" She asked. She’s really observant, I can’t win with her.
How should I say it anyway? No matter how much I try to hide it, if I start talking about how my friends don’t know anything about my situation, it’ll cause confusion and Makoto will surely question everything like the annoying guy he is. "The practice’s making
a little sleepy, also since I’m full now."
With that, we all decided to leave the restaurant. ’I’m so glad they didn’t bother asking more questions.’ However, before I could even get in the car, Night grabbed my arm. "We need to go sowhere. You guys go ho first." He told the others, and Shiho just told us to be careful after that they drove away.
"I didn’t know we were going sowhere."
Night held my hand and was about to walk away from the car. "Are we going to walk?" He looked back at
as if confused. "We can’t! What if soone from our school sees us? Didn’t you warn
about letting other students at school know about us?"
"Ah." He said as if he just rembered. ’What is wrong with him really?’
We get inside the car with Kaoru sitting on the shotgun seat. "Where to, young master?" Asahi asked, and Night gave his directions. I don’t really know where we’re going, but I guess I don’t have a choice but to follow them anyway.
Let’s just think about how I’ll make it up to Ace. I need to think of it carefully since I might stutter as soon as I saw her. ’Should I just tell her my whole situation? I don’t want to lie again and if I hide anything from her, I’ll end up lying.’ It’s so hard. I sighed as I stared at the window.
’I also really want so strawberry-flavored food right now. Maybe I should make Kaoru buy so strawberry-flavored candies.’ But I’m really glad I made Shiho eat that strawberry sherbet, I guess she’s not allowed to eat much sweet back in Japan. They’re watching out for her health after all.
"We’re here. We’ll be taking our ti; you may wait here." Night said as he pulled
out of the car, and we arrived in front of an ice cream parlor. "Wait here." He said as he went back to the car and when he ca back he was already wearing sunglasses and a cap. ’What is he up to?’
"What are we doing here?"
Night didn’t answer and instead, he went inside the ice cream parlor and I didn’t have a choice but to follow him. When we got inside, there are only a few people in and it was weird. ’It’s the 1st of January, how co there are few people here?’ That’s what I noticed in that restaurant we ca to before too. "Why are we here?"
"To eat ice cream."
