Chapter 69: First Night
I know I’m the one who ruined their relationship. "What are you guys doing in my room?" Mizuki and Taka imdiately hid behind
after Night entered and asked that. He looked at
with those emotionless eyes and I didn’t know what to say.
The tension in the air made Kenji get in between us. ’This is why I don’t want to go here.’ I thought while Kenji explains that it was Mizuki and Taka’s desire to get into Night’s room. Night didn’t say anything else after that, and the three of us, Mizuki, Taka, and I went out of the room.
"T-That was nerve-racking," Taka said. I’m not even wondering why they’re all scared of Night, it’s because he’s hard to read and approach.
"What should we do now then?"
Mizuki and Taka played with
a lot that I forgot I’m in a new place. It was so fun being with them and I was comfortable for the very first ti in a while. But that comfort stopped when the wedding day finally arrived.
Rika and so of the other servants woke up early in the morning to prepare
for the wedding ceremony. ’I can’t believe I need to wake up at 5 in the morning again just to bathe and do so skin cares.’ I thought as I just let the servants lead
around. "Please bring the miss’ clothes," Rika said in Japanese which I didn’t understand. All I did was sit on the chair while waiting for them to finish.
’This is too tiring.’
"Get the shiromuku." Shiromuku? Right, the wedding dress. It’s a white kimono. Himari said grandpa Kenta chose that over the uchikake which is another type of wedding dress because of its pure white color.
Himari said that the color white symbolizes pureness, cleanness, or virginity. ’It’s really sothing I don’t care about. Who cares if I’m a virgin or not? Although grandpa Kenta cares, I think?’ I thought while yawning nonstop. "Young miss please sit straight," Rika called to
making
open my eyes and sat straight up.
"I’m so sleepy."
Rika combed my hair while the others prepare my undergarnts. "Please bear with it. After the ceremony will be the party, and after that, you can finally rest." So there are a lot of things to do left? Ugh! I’m too tired already.
"Wait, Himari said that the first thing to do in a traditional Japanese wedding is the betrothal." The Japanese betrothal ceremony is called yuinou, as Himari taught
the other day. It’s an exchange of symbolic gifts between the families of the bride and groom. "My parents aren’t— I an, I don’t have a family now," I said. ’That sounded bad, but that’s what everyone knows about
anyway.’
Rika giggled. "The miss doesn’t have to worry about that. Since those things are supposed to be done before the ceremony." Eh? Really? Just when I thought I can finally be proud of my mory! Turns out I’m incorrect with that information. "The wedding will be Shinto-style, perford by a Shinto priest at the nearest shrine." She said. I already know that since Himari inford
about it.
I learned that in this Shinto-style wedding there’ll be an exchange of nuptial cups. ’To be honest, I don’t even know what nuptial ans.’ That is also called san-san-kudo. San ans three, and ku ans nine. So, it basically ans, three, three, and nine. Himari said that it’s because the bride and groom will drink sake three tis each from three different-sized cups. ’Hmm. What do they call it again? Saka-sothing.’
"What do they call the cups for drinking sake?"
Rika turned to . "It’s sakazuki, young miss."
Right! It’s called sakazuki. Then after that our parents will also drink sake, but I don’t know what alternative we’ll do since my parents aren’t around. After that will be rituals sothing, and the reception! There’ll be lots of sushi! I can’t wait to taste them all.
As soon as Rika was done with my hair, the other servants helped
change into my clothes and another one put makeup on . ’Is it
or do I look like a geisha with this makeup? Although it’s a little lighter than I rember from those historical Japanese movies I watched before.’ I thought.
We heard a knock on the door snatching my attention away. "It’s Shiho and , lady Noelle." I heard Himari’s voice.
"You may enter," I said.
Himari entered the room with Shiho by her side. "My, you’re beautiful." She complinted
the mont she saw my face.
"It’s too bad that I can’t see my sister-in-law’s face," Shiho said while pouting causing
to stand up from my seat and walk toward her. "Sister?" She called for
as soon as I held her hand. I don’t know how to respond, so I pulled her into a hug.
"I’ll be a good older sister to you," I said. Shiho hugged
back while I can hear her sobs. ’If people saw us like this, they might think that I’m her real sister.’
Himari smiled. "We’ll be waiting." She said as they bid
their goodbyes. I really don’t want to go, but when I finished my preparations, Rika and the others servants led
out of the room. The shrine’s just behind the family house so we don’t have to ride a car on our way there.
"I have co to accompany the miss." Asahi greeted . He’s wearing formal attire, it’s a kimono. That reminds , Shiho and Himari were also wearing kimonos. ’I’m glad I’m not the only one wearing a kimono.’ Although they’re all probably used to wearing one and I’m the only one suffering.
"Please do think of
as your father for today." Asahi said while I cling to his arm and we walked in the hallway.
"Maki might bawl if he sees his only daughter being married off like this." Asahi said causing
to chuckle. I can really see my father’s tearful eyes begging
not to get married. "I apologize that they couldn’t be here." He said. It’s not like I wanted this marriage either so it doesn’t matter.
When we arrived at the shrine, I saw Night standing outside in a black kimono. He has his hair up and he’s looking sowhere with those empty eyes. ’I guess he’s regretting his decision now, but he can’t escape anyway.’ I thought as I walked to him. Asahi left the two of us outside as he enters.
"Are you still going to ignore ?" I asked him causing his eyes to look at . It was weird because at that mont I thought his eyes were sparkling. "L-Let just finish this already. My foot hurts." It must be because the shoes I’m wearing don’t fit
well.
Night reached out his hand to . I guess we do need to act like lovers so I accepted it, and we both entered the shrine. Things went well. I don’t even rember what I did but I think I did great since no one was scowling at
and in the end, they were clapping for us. Even though the sake made
dizzy and almost made
puke, it all went well. At least, that’s what I thought!
Until now!
"Y-You’re telling , that I have to spend the night with that guy?" I pointed to Night who’s walking away now. "A-And m-m-make out?" They want
to have sex with that guy just after the wedding? What? Do I have to bear his children already even though all of these are fake?!
Himari nodded. "It’s the tradition."
"P-Please let
talk to grandfather," I said, but Himari pointed into the room where we had our reception. Everyone was knocked out from the sake, and the only man standing left is Asahi. ’He’s literally cleaning up after them.’ "B-But I can’t spend the night with him."
Himari tilted her head. "Do you feel pressured by it?" I nodded vigorously. Not only pressured! I don’t like it. "You don’t have to. You only need to sleep in the sa room with him and get used to it." She said with a smile.
"Am I allowed to go sleep in my room tomorrow then?"
Himari’s smile vanished. "No. You must always sleep with Night while you’re here in the main house." She said as she smiled again. "But you can choose if you’ll be doing lovemaking or—" I raised my hand to stop her from continuing her words.
"F-Fine."
I’ll just need to bear with it while we’re here in Japan. As soon as we got back to the Philippines I can sleep in my own room again. That’s right, this is only temporary. "Rika help
change into my pajamas," I told Rika but she shook her head.
"The miss must present herself to the young master just like that." She said. "Also, the room you’ll spend the night with the young master is in the other building. Let
show the way." Rika said as she pulled
towards that other building, and the mont I entered, she left.
’Shoot! I don’t want to go.’
"This way, milady." I saw Kenji with that huge grin on his face. ’I guess he knows what I ca here for.’ "Enjoy your ti." He said as he opened the door into a room, and forced
to get inside. An awkward silence filled the room the mont I got in, and Night was already preparing the mattress.
I gulped. "Where should I sleep?"
There was no answer from him. ’I guess I should find another mattress.’ I thought as I opened the door. "Where’s the other futon?" I asked Kenji who was about to leave. A futon is a quilted mattress that I am actually really fond of.
"There’s no other futon," Kenji said with a smile. "The lady and the young master must share one." He said that and left imdiately before I could ask more questions. ’S-S-Share one?!! This is absurd! Grandpa Kenta will not let this happen!’ Ugh, right, he’s drunk.
I sighed as I get inside the room again. "Fine! I’ll sleep with no futon." I said angrily since Night’s ignoring .
The night continued and I’m lying on the ground wearing these uncomfortable clothes. ’How am I going to sleep well?’ That’s when I heard footsteps outside the door. My forehead creased as I rember Rika telling
that Night and I are the only ones allowed in this building while we were on our way here. ’Am I just imagining things?’ I thought as I shook my head. I should probably stop watching lots of horror movies.
I closed my eyes and tried to go to sleep. The tiredness caused
to slowly drift away despite the discomfort I’m feeling from lying on the floor. However, before I could fully fall asleep, I heard footsteps again, and this ti it was so near that it caused
to open my eyes.
I’m slowly adjusting to the darkness, not until I saw a silhouette of a person, but I also saw him holding sothing sharp. That person was wearing all-black clothes with their face covered with a fox mask.
"Who are you?"
As soon as I asked that, that person threw sothing at
making
scream as I dodged it. "What in the world—" Before I could even finish what I was saying, the unknown person charged at
holding a knife right at .
