Chapter 46: Pasti
"Does it really taste delicious?"
I raised an eyebrow. "Do you want to taste it?"
Kenji quickly shook his head as he shoved his spoon in his mouth. "Mint chocolate makes
want to puke." He said.
"Stop being dramatic," I said as I offered Kaoru a spoonful of mint chocolate. "Here, try it." Kaoru looked at Kenji, but that guy ignored Kaoru, and he was forced to take that spoonful of mint chocolate I gave him. He quickly drank water right after that. Maybe so people have lower taste buds. Let’s just accept that.
I shrugged as I ate my mint chocolate happily. After Kenji finished his ice cream, he drove us back ho. Kaoru started talking about his experience back in Japan, where he won a popsicle stick after just winning sothing random raffle. It was fun listening to him because of how he told his story. "What did you do with the popsicle stick then?"
"I ate it." He said while giggling, making
giggle too. "It was really delicious because it’s free."
"I agree. People keep misunderstanding that I freely spend my parents’ money around. Still, it wasn’t that easy unless I really like sothing."
I never expected to talk about such random things with these two, and it was pretty fun. "Do you play gas, Kaoru?" Since it was already late, the rush hour kept us on the road since there was traffic. "What gas do you play?" I asked, and that’s how Kaoru went from the shotgun seat to beside . He talked about tons of gas that I don’t even know.
"I’m playing this famous fps ga, and it’s entertaining! I think the lady will like it too if you try it. They have superpowers." He said with his eyes sparkling. Even though Kenji almost scolded him for leaving his seat, Kenji just sighed because of Kaoru’s excitent. "My favorite character is a character from the Philippines. She’s swift and adorable!" Kaoru added. I don’t know what he’s talking about, but his high tension makes
smile and nod.
"But what’s an fps ga?" I asked.
"It’s a first-person shooter ga, young lady," Kenji answered as he started the car again. "I think it’ll be better if you just showed the lady so videos from YouTube." He added. We can’t escape the traffic yet; that’s why he’s trying to distract
because I might get bored.
"Here, look at how cool it is, milady."
Kaoru showed
a video of the ga, and I was really focused because of how cool it was. "Is this really a person? How co they’re so good at killing people?" ’Shoot, that sounded so wrong on so many levels.’ I cleared my throat. "I an, they’re killing their enemies instantly. Their aim is unbelievable."
"I know, right? When I played in competitive before, I keep getting headshots!"
"Really? So you’re good at it too?"
"No. I ant I’m the one being killed."
Kenji laughed, and I was dumbfounded. "That ans Kaoru’s weaker than his enemies." He said while driving. "Does the lady want to try playing it later? Kaoru has a computer in his room. He plays almost every day after school."
Kaoru shook his head. "I don’t play that much."
"Your match history doesn’t say the sa."
Kenji kept laughing while Kaoru was complaining about how Kenji had opened his computer again. It made
also laugh seeing Kaoru’s flustered expression. "I just played one ti. I didn’t open your browser history. Why are you getting mad?" Kenji said, causing Kaoru’s face to redden.
"Why? What’s with Kaoru’s browser history?"
Silence followed my question just like that, and Kenji was suppressing his laughter. At the sa ti, Kaoru looked like he wanted to disappear. "I-I also play Genshin Impact." Kaoru changed the topic, and that’s how we started talking about gas again.
As soon as we arrived at the mansion, Kaoru excitedly told
how he’ll teach
how to play the fps ga he was telling
about. That was until grandpa Kenta greeted us. It made Kaoru go completely silent with his head down.
"Let’s talk, my dear." Grandpa Kenta said as he told
to follow him towards the garden. "How are you feeling?" He asked as we walked towards the bridge over the pond. Rika was feeding the koi fishes when she saw Grandpa and . She imdiately bowed her head and went away.
"I feel fine now, grandpa. You don’t need to worry."
Grandpa sighed. "You’ve been losing consciousness lots of tis. This ti you’re over fatigued. Did Night make you overexert yourself?" I quickly shook my head to disagree with that. Even though Night made my first days of studying hellish and stressful, he helped
in the end. He made
able to finish studying mathematics. I think I also need to thank El, but that’ll make him assu that it’s still okay for us to et.
"I’ve been working hard because I have lots of shortcomings. Night helped
overco so of those shortcomings." I said. It’s really not Night’s fault. Even though he was an to
and he’s still cold towards , I appreciate his help. That’s why I also want to thank him personally. "It was my fault for not being able to care for myself. I’m sorry, grandpa." Grandpa Kenta patted my head to comfort .
"I don’t bla you. Instead, I am proud of you." He smiled. "Did you know that one of the most important values in the yakuza is giving our best in everything we do?" I nodded, making grandpa’s smile go wider. "Your father has been good at doing his best. And now I see that you’re just like him. But sotis, doing our best isn’t enough. We also need to think about our health, and if doing our best could make us fall ill, it is better not to in the anti. Do you get what I’m saying?"
I nodded. "Yes, grandpa. I’m sorry."
After that, grandpa Kenta let
go back to my room, and as soon as I entered the hallway, Rika greeted
with a nervous expression on her face. "D-Did the young miss get scolded a lot?" She asked while she held my arms gently. "I-I heard the young miss lost consciousness at school today again."
"I’m fine. Grandpa didn’t scold . He’s just worried about ." Rika doesn’t look like she believes what I said. "Anyway, I’ll be going to Kaoru’s room."
"Huh? Why?" Rika raised her voice a little.
"I’m going to play so gas. Do you want to co with ?"
Rika didn’t have a choice. She helped
change my casual clothes, and we went to Kaoru’s room. "I cleaned my room extra tidily because milady will play with ," Kaoru said, sweats still coming out of his temples. But Rika didn’t look amused.
"As you should. The miss is basking you with her presence. You must clean everything before making her co into your room." Rika said with her arms crossed. This caused the two of them to start bickering. I just sat on the floor in front of the computer.
It’s placed on a low table, and there’s a pillow in front, so that’s where I sat. I road my vision inside the room, and that’s when I noticed tissue paper beside the computer.
"Why are the tissue papers beside your computer?" I asked as I turned to Kaoru.
Rika chuckled, and Kaoru imdiately rushed toward the computer, and he pulled the tissue paper off the table. "I-I’ll be putting this sowhere." He said as he rushed to his closet.
I tilted my head. "What was that for?"
Rika shook her head as she massaged my shoulders. "You should not think about such things anymore, young miss. You are still pure and innocent." My forehead creased after hearing that from soone younger than . How am I more innocent than her?
"I don’t get it."
"It’s better not to get it, young miss."
Kaoru ca back, and his face was as red as a tomato. "I-I’m sorry for that, milady. Now! I’ll show you how this ga works." He sat beside
and opened his computer. When the ga opened, Kaoru started a match, and I watched how he got killed almost every ti by his opponents. "I-I promise I’m not this weak, milady. It’s just because it’s my first match—"
"That’s what weaklings always say." Rika cut him off.
"Shut up." Kaoru said as he continued playing, and when he beca the only survivor, I could hear his dead teammates’ voices telling him how to ’clutch’ the ga. I don’t know what clutch ans, but I think it ans to win the ga. "Ugh! They’re so noisy. I can’t focus."
"You’re an idiot if you can’t win this."
One of his teammates said, causing my eyes to widen. "That’s so an," I said, and when Kaoru got killed instead, his teammates started lashing out at him. "Why are they so an?"
"They just can’t accept defeat that well, milady. Does the lady want to try it?"
I shook my head as I stood up from the floor. "I think I’ll pass for now. I will thank Night for his help today, so later." I went out of Kaoru’s room, and Rika followed .
"Does the miss want
to co with you to the young master’s room?"
I shook my head. "I can do it." I’m not that afraid of Night anymore.
