Chapter 44: Special Examination
Our so-called ’study session’ started, and I didn’t ask Night questions as he taught . He was not raising his voice at , but it was still his sa cold tone. I got used to it, so it doesn’t actually matter anymore. "Do you have any questions?" He asked, but I ignored him and just tried to follow what he did. "Wrong. You need to mind this part before doing that." Night said.
"How do I do this again?" ’Oh shoot! I forgot that this person isn’t El! He’ll call
stupid.’
Night sighed. "Here, look at what I’m going to do." He explained it without raising his voice or calling
stupid. "Do you get it?"
"K-Kind of." It took
aback after he asked
that. It’s weird, but I chose to not focus on that and keep studying. So what if it’s weird? I’ll be the one taking advantage either way. "Then how do I do this?" Although Night kept sighing, he still taught
well. ’He’s the one who suggested this. He doesn’t have the right to sigh.’
He’s still strict, but he doesn’t call
stupid anymore, so it doesn’t make
anxious and nervous sitting beside him. After teaching
what I needed to learn, Night left with Kenji, but I didn’t stop studying. Let’s keep studying until I fully get it since I might forget everything when the morning cos.
"I’m going to sleep after this." I kept telling myself until I reached 12 midnight, and Rika ca into my room to remind
that I needed to go to sleep.
When I woke up, I felt groggy, but I still got to school early and did so studying. Kaoru’s off his suspension now, and he accompanies
everywhere I go. I don’t even complain anymore because of that last incident and because I feel bad for the disciplinary action Kaoru received. Although he’s still acting as cheerful as ever, I know he feels terrible for what happened.
"Does the lady want so snacks before the class starts?" Kaoru asked with his usual enthusiasm.
"Chocolate milk, please."
Kaoru smiled widely. "Yes! I’ll bring it to you as soon as possible." He said as he left the classroom. I think we went to school too early today, our classmates aren’t here yet, and I’m the only one inside the classroom. It’s peaceful. The calmness makes
feel kind of sleepy.
I leaned on my chair’s back rest as I closed my eyes. ’I want to go ho and continue sleeping.’
"Shit! I’m late." My eyes opened after hearing another person co into our room. "Oh? Noelle! Good morning, aren’t you too early today?" He greeted , which made
sit properly.
"I’m studying for my special examination tomorrow. What about you?"
Ryzen placed his bag on his chair. "I’m here to put this in the art room. I forgot to do it yesterday, hoping that Miss Valencia won’t be there first." He said. "Don’t mind , and continue what you’re doing." After saying that, he left the room holding a huge canvas. He’s passionate about drawing, and I can see how hard he works. Do I look like that before when I was obsessed with swimming?
I closed my eyes again as I rested my head on my desk. I’m too sleepy. I need so sugar. "Oh!" I turned my head toward the door, and there I saw Carla. Her face is flushed, and she’s avoiding my gaze. "G-Good morning, Noelle." She greeted
while avoiding eting my eyes.
"Good morning."
After that awkward greeting, Carla went to her seat, and I closed my eyes again. ’When is Kaoru coming back with the chocolate milk drink?’ I thought, but then I heard a loud sound behind , causing
to turn around and look.
"I-I’m sorry. I was being clumsy." Carla apologized as she picked up the pieces of the vase placed on the lockers at the back. I got up from my seat to help her. "N-No, Noelle. I can do this. You might hurt your beautiful hands." She said, which caught
off-guard. Carla went and got the broom to sweep the remaining shards, and after that, she used the mop to clean up the water on the floor.
"I really apologize for what—"
"I brought your chocolate milk, milady!"
I wanted to hide my face as soon as Kaoru arrived, calling
like that aloud. "I-I’ll go throw this out," Carla said after feeling that sa awkwardness I’m feeling.
"I-I’m sorry, milady."
I slapped my forehead after Kaoru apologized. "Just." I sighed. "Don’t call
that again when we’re at school."
"Yes, milady."
I sighed again as I received the chocolate milk from him. Let’s just focus on studying. Tomorrow’s the special examination, so I can’t slack off now. I’m doing great at this point, I just need to push more, and after tomorrow it’ll be over. All I need to do is focus on the club activities while still paying attention to the lessons and learning bridal lessons simultaneously.
Coach Samantha allowed
to skip morning practice for today since she knows I’m preparing for the examination and I’m really working hard. I appreciate all their help.
The day finally arrived. It’s ti for my special examination. "Don’t feel too pressured, okay? You’ve been working your ass off for this, so trust yourself and just answer everything calmly." Andy reminded
as I left our classroom since the special examination will be held near the guidance office. "I know you can do it if you work hard." He added while patting my shoulders.
"You can do it." Ace said as she patted my head.
With that, I walked into the hallway while Kaoru accompanied . Although he’s not allowed to skip class, he still did because of his duty to guard and keep
safe. Even though they already planted lots of their n on the school grounds, he’s still being careful because of what happened last ti.
"Just wait for
outside the room, okay?" I told him, and Kaoru nodded with a smile as he handed
my belongings.
"Please do your best."
I smiled and patted Kaoru’s head. He also worked hard tailing
all day and keeping
safe, although I’ve been staying in the classroom whenever I don’t have anything to do. Yesterday I also did great in our club training. ’It’s so exhausting.’ "Yeah, I’ll do my best."
I entered the room, and there was another girl inside. She had her legs crossed and was looking at
with an eyebrow raised. "Tsk. Why am I here with this self-centered person?" She said, intentionally making
hear her.
"Shut up, Francesca. You’re not in the place to say that." That other guy in the room said.
The girl nad Francesca scoffed. "How could you say that to your older sister?" They started bickering— no, actually, it was all the girl, and that other guy isn’t saying anything else. Since I don’t know them, I chose to sit on the farthest seat from them.
Maybe I should review so of my notes again. Right when I was about to pull my reviewer out of my bag, the teacher that’ll be proctoring us for today arrived with the test papers in his hand. "Now, please remove all unnecessary items from your desks and keep your bags on the floor." I followed the proctor’s instructions as I pulled out my pencil case from my bag.
"And start."
I answered my paper with ease. ’Oh, my, everything Ace marked is all here.’ I thought with a smile on my face. So this is how it feels when the part you studied cos out in the examination and you know the answers. It’s satisfying that I quickly finished everything.
"Wow, you’re really done with that subject?" Our proctor asked. I might not know his na, but he must know . Every teacher in our school knows
because I’m so stupid.
But that will change. I won’t stay as that student famous for being stupid!
At least that’s what I thought until I had my hands on the mathematics test paper. I-I an, I know it; I know how to do it, but the ti limit is making
panic as I’m plodding when it cos to this particular equation that Night taught
the other day.
’Let’s just calm down. The proctor isn’t saying anything yet, so there must be lots of ti left.’ I thought as I tried to focus again, but the sound of the bell ringing outside caused
to get distracted for the second ti.
It’s already lunch break, and I can’t take it until I finish this exam. ’I should have eaten my breakfast like usual.’ I was scared I might get a stomachache and puke, so I ate less than my usual breakfast. Now, I’m hungrier than usual.
I can do it. After I finish this, I’ll be done with the special examination. Just endure it for a while. With that mindset, I ignored my hunger and continued solving the problems until none were left. I passed the paper to the proctor, who gave
the pass to go and take my lunch.
As soon as I got relieved from all that stress, my body felt light, and my head got fuzzy. "Noelle?" I heard Kaoru’s voice not until soone bumped into , and I fell to the floor.
