Chapter 134: Mama can count on
My conversation with Bowie was cut short because it was getting late. So Edge and I had to leave him in the stone relics. Bowie and I stared at each other as I left, giving
a look of encouragent to consider his word of advice.
"Luna, are you alright?" asked Edge, who was walking beside
through the forest lane back to the castle.
I glanced at him and nodded. "Yes. I just have a lot of things in mind." I then cast Toby a smile, who was in my arms. "Don’t worry."
"Did that Bowie say sothing weird?" I laughed wearily at his question.
"That’s not it." I shook my head and took a deep breath, setting my eyes ahead. "More like sothing important, but it’s a bit confusing." My brows furrowed when Edge mumbled.
"All important information is either cruel or confusing." He shrugged as he was acting normal with the lack of insecurity and danger. "Sotis, it can make you question your entire existence. You just have to co to terms with it, since the truth will always be the truth. One can turn a blind eye to it or look away, but no one can change it. It is what is it."
I halted, blinking countless tis. "Edge..." his brows rose as he looked back at
with confusion.
"I didn’t know you’re quite smart."
His entire face froze, cheeks coloring in red as he looked away. Edge scratched the back of his head, clearing his throat.
"Luna, what are you saying? If I am smart, then you’re a genius. I’m just saying what I know since this is not a secret."
The side of my lips stretched, distracting myself by shifting my attention to him. This was the first ti I actually had a conversation with Edge, so his presence helped a lot. Surely, everyone in the pack was full of surprises. Ivo was the smart one, but also the clumsiest. Tito was all about strength, but he would rather knit a scarf than do hard labor. The twins, although they were each other’s best friends, they were also each other’s worse critique.
Now, Edge... I took back my words when I said he was like a living negativity. It seed I was slowly getting a grasp of his personality. He lacked self-esteem and his ti with Mitch only worsened it.
"Haha. You’re interesting." I laughed, shaking my head as I marched forward. "Let’s go, Edge. The night is about to fall."

while I set aside Bowie’s words for now. Just like what Bowie said, he would wait for my decision — whatever decision he ant. So, I would like to take so ti and analyze everything. Hugo would co back in five days. I had ti to decide before he gets worried.
The lamb, the wolf, the child of evil, the thing that had started that hadn’t t its end, the Tarsa tribe... I would tackle them all one by one. I didn’t want to make a decision that I would regret.
With that thought in mind, we paced through the forest lane in silence. The night strangely ca faster today, I thought. Gazing up, eyes through the large canopies to see the deepening blue sky.
"Luna." Just then, I halted when Edge’s footsteps stopped and his voice sounded vigilant. When I looked back, he was already standing beside .
"Soone... an unwelcod guest is here."
My brows furrowed in confusion before my eyes gradually popped open. After a mont, my breath hitched upon seeing multiple figures surrounding us. I held Toby tighter.
’Mama...’ Toby called, but I didn’t look away at the people in a black cloak who appeared out of nowhere.
What were they doing here? I wondered. Although I couldn’t see their faces because of their hoods, I was familiar with this perating aura of blood and death.
Vampires.
My body trembled, recognizing the fear these vampires instilled deep in my heart.
But more than that... how did they infiltrate this place? The forest was situated behind the castle. The only way to get into this place was from the castle. Although it was not guarded, their presence here was alarming.
"Edge." I looked at Edge, hoping we could agree to run. However, my heart sank seeing his pale complexion. And then... he started to mumble again.
"They’re too many... we will die... Luna will die..." Edge held his trembling hand together, lowering his head in fear. He was even more terrified than I was!
"Princess." I flinched when a vicious voice of a man reached my ear. "You better co with us if you don’t want everyone in this place to et their end."
My eyes shook, securing Toby in my arms. Edge didn’t stop from trembling as he squatted down, succumbing to fear before I do! I clenched my teeth, breathing suspending. My mind functioned twice faster than usual.
We were already far from the tribes’ dwelling, and these vampires managed to infiltrate the castle without being noticed. Hugo was out to inspect the territory with his trusted vassals. But even though everyone in here was capable, these vampires were just as capable.
Death.
That word hovered over my head. Death would be inevitable. Everyone would protect
like usual, and in turn... they could die. I didn’t want anyone to sacrifice for
again. I didn’t want soone to lose their life or get hurt because of .
I took a deep breath, gazing at the person before us with determination. "I will co with you, but you have to let them go." I cocked my head in Edge’s direction, who was currently having a nervous breakdown. "You only want , so let them go. If you do, I will go with you voluntarily."
"Princess, that is not possible. We can’t let a wolf go and sniff our traces."
"Then let this bear go." He kept quiet as his eyes fell on Toby in my arms. "He is just a bear. He won’t be a threat to you. Or... are you scared of a re bear?"
His lips stretched into a mocking smirk. "I was told the Princess was ek, but I guess now that you reek of that wolf’s scent, you adapted." He mocked, snapping his tongue. "Sure. Release the bear to the wild where he belongs."
I heaved a sigh of relief as I gazed down at Toby. He looked at
worriedly, but I sported a reassuring smile.
’Toby, run back to the castle and warn everyone. You can’t speak, but I know you will do it.’ I nodded encouragingly, ignoring the reluctance in his eyes. ’I will count on you, alright?’
’Mama...’ Toby’s soft and worried voice ca into my head before his eyes glead with resolve. ’Mama can count on !’
