Chapter 816: Chapter 557: Money Alone Isn’t Enough!

After seeing off Investor Zhou, Han Yu was about to ask his senior if she was going back to the district to see Little Han Han, when suddenly Deputy Director Liu from the Party and Governnt Office of the Managent Committee called, asking him to hurry to Sanhe to help receive investors.

Deputy Mayor Shen and Tang Wentai had gone out again for investnt promotion, Secretary Chen was in the city for a eting, and the other Party Working Committee mbers and deputy directors of the Managent Committee were all not at ho. The colleagues from the Investnt Promotion Bureau had painstakingly invited the investors over for an inspection; they couldn’t be left without a leader to receive them.

The sky is vast and the earth is wide, but the most important thing in the developnt zone is investnt attraction!

Han Yu dared not delay for even a mont, quickly changed into casual clothes, and switched roles from being the Military Minister and Reserve Battalion Commander to becoming a Party Working Committee mber and Political and Legal Committee Secretary of the Linghai Economic and Technological Developnt Zone, rushing to Sanhe to welco the investors in his capacity as a developnt zone leader.

He had no idea how many tis he had accompanied Deputy Mayor Shen and Secretary Chen to inspect with investors before, so there was no need for him to deliberately learn how to boast.

Climbing into the Toyota minibus purchased by the Investnt Promotion Bureau last year, he accompanied the investors on a tour of the established and seemingly impressive industrial park while introducing the situation in Linghai.

"President Xu, President Jiang, our Linghai is bordered by the Yellow Sea to the east and leans on the Yangtze River to the south. It is an important gateway at the Yangtze River Estuary and the hotown of Zhang Jian, the champion in the late Qing Dynasty and a famous modern industrialist. The total population of the city is 1.03 million, with a total land area of 1,012 square kiloters."

It was the first ti the two presidents ca to Linghai, but not the first ti dealing with Linghai officials.

As early as last March, they t Deputy Mayor Shen and Tang Wentai at an economic and trade fair.

As a deputy departnt-level leader, Deputy Mayor Shen was really young, and the deputy director of the Managent Committee in charge of investnt promotion and port district construction, Tang Wentai, was even younger, leaving a deep impression on them.

Unexpectedly, upon arriving in Linghai, they were received by a young Political and Legal Committee Secretary of the developnt zone.

Being young is great!

Only the young have the drive and can get things done.

Moreover, dealing with young leaders is more straightforward than dealing with the much older ones.

The two presidents nodded slightly, looking with interest out the window at the rows of factory districts with a modern vibe.

Han Yu didn’t know what the two investors were thinking, so he continued, "Since the reform and opening-up, our Linghai’s economy has developed rapidly. In 1997, which was last year, the city’s GDP reached 9.02 billion yuan, with a total industrial and agricultural output value of 15.38 billion yuan. The economic growth rate reached 12.8%, with municipal fiscal revenue of 412.8 million yuan, and the savings balance of urban and rural residents reached 6.2 billion yuan."

Without missing a beat, Deputy Director Liu from the Party and Governnt Office jokingly said, "President Xu, President Jiang, don’t be fooled by the low salaries of us officials; the people have money, or we wouldn’t have so much savings."

"The burden on farrs isn’t heavy?" President Xu asked with a smile.

Han Yu explained, "In Linghai, there aren’t many real farming farrs, mainly so elderly. Young people either work in factories, go out to do business, or work outside. You both run a large cent production enterprise, so you must be very familiar with the construction industry. Our Linghai’s construction industry is very developed, and many young people are engaged in construction outside."

President Xu nodded, "I see."

President Jiang secretly marveled that this economically developed coastal area, a county-level city’s annual industrial and agricultural output value, had reached over 15 billion, equivalent to eight tis that of his hotown county.

"Our Linghai is a hotbed for investnt, known as the North East Sea. Many investors have even called our Linghai a small Pudong in the Yangtze River Delta! Our industries are diverse, and after years of developnt, we have more than 1,200 industrial enterprises, producing over 150 main categories and more than 3,000 types of products. We’ve ford an industrial system spanning textiles, machinery, tallurgy, building materials, light industry, electronics, ship repair, and more."

In recent years, Linghai has really changed every year, especially the changes in the developnt zone.

Han Yu felt heartfelt pride, pointing to the clean and tidy Hong Kong Road outside the window: "The infrastructure construction in our Linghai is also very complete, realizing the ’asphalting’ of roads within our territory. The upcoming extension of the expressway from Jiangcheng to Binjiang will cross through our Linghai.

Our developnt zone’s Lingda Car Ferry has beco an important transportation hub linking the north and south of the Great River. It’s less than 30 kiloters from Linghai City or our developnt zone to Dongxing Airport. Driving from here to East Sea takes only 3 hours. Postal and telecommunications are also very developed, with a telephone penetration rate of 9.36 phones per hundred people..."

Deputy Mayor Shen repeatedly instructed that when introducing the developnt zone and even Linghai, we must talk about not only the hard strengths but also the soft strengths.

Seeing the two investors smiling but not speaking, Han Yu switched his tone: "The level of civilization in our Linghai is also relatively high. Two years ago, we were rated as a national advanced city in education, and in February this year, we were rated as a national sanitary city..."

Blowing one’s trumpet isn’t boasting.

Linghai has received several national-level honors in recent years.

Being a national advanced city in education is well-deserved. Linghai Senior High School is not a "super high school" that recruits students from all over Binjiang or even the whole province. It only admits students from Linghai, yet for several years, more than twenty students have been admitted to Tsinghua and Beijing University annually, with a high admission rate of ninety percent.

In fact, not only Linghai, but the high schools in Dongqi, Changzhou, and other district counties are also quite good.

As a result, recruitnt officers from prestigious universities like Tsinghua and Beijing University bypassed Binjiang, going directly to the high schools in the county districts for recruitnt. Last year, they even granted Linghai Middle School, Dongqi Middle School, and Si Gang Middle School the qualification to recomnd students to Beijing University and Tsinghua.

The several high schools in Binjiang District are far inferior, and capable parents with ability send their children to Linghai or Dongqi and other district counties for schooling.
