Chapter 611: Chapter 434 Another Appointnt

In a blink of an eye, it was Friday again.

Over the past few years, the superiors have implented several reforms regarding work and rest schedules.

Firstly, the widely resented daylight saving ti was abolished.

Since March 1, 1994, the eight-hour workday system was implented, with an average of forty-four hours per week; major holidays allowed two days off, while minor holidays only one day off, also known as the "1 2" holiday system.

On May 1 last year, governnt and public institutions began to adopt unified working hours, eliminating the distinction between major and minor holidays, with Saturdays and Sundays designated as official rest days.

Considering the difficulties so enterprises and institutions may face in the implentation, the superiors allowed for an appropriate extension; however, public institutions must enforce this by January 1 this year at the latest, and enterprises by May 1 of next year at the latest.

Changhang navigation police were equivalent to public institutions, and due to the intense crackdowns in the first half of the year and the strained police force, they were too busy even for single days off, let alone double.

Now that the crackdowns had concluded and it was no longer as busy, the bureau started to implent double days off this month, as stipulated by the superiors.

With two days off, Xiao Gong could go ho for a visit.

He had packed early in the morning, planning to leave work two hours early in the afternoon to take the long-distance bus from Linghai Bus Station back ho.

However, plans always fall short of changes. Right after lunch, the bureau’s office called, stating that Director Li from the Political Office would be visiting Bailong Port soon, and they required all police and auxiliary police to be on standby at the station.

"Captain Zhang, is there another operation?"

"It shouldn’t be. If there were an operation, Director Li wouldn’t be the one coming."

"So why are we being told to stay at the station?"

"Probably a eting."

It was a rare opportunity to go ho, and a matchmaking appointnt had been arranged!

Worried he might miss his bus, Xiao Gong said with a gloomy face, "Who knows how long it will last; there are only two buses a day to Yangzhou from Linghai."

Zhang Ping didn’t know how to comfort him when Han Yu ca over and patted his shoulder, "Don’t worry, if you really miss your bus, Instructor Chen will drive you."

Xiao Gong grinned, "That would be too much trouble; my ho is too far."

Han Yu, knowing his heart was already flying back to his hotown, couldn’t help but laugh, "What’s there to be embarrassed about? Matchmaking is a top priority! Let Instructor Chen take you ho, and he won’t return tonight. Tomorrow, he’ll accompany you to your matchmaking appointnt as a unit leader."

Chen Zikun laughed, raising his head to say, "I think that’s a good idea."

It was a quiet afternoon at the port, and like usual, Zhang Jiangkun was at the police station reading the newspaper. Hearing about the matchmaking, he asked in confusion, "Xiao Gong, why do you have to go back to your hotown for matchmaking? You work at Bailong Port; you could totally find soone nearby."

"Even if there’s no suitable match in Bailong Port, there’s definitely one at Four Factory!" Captain Fan agreed wholeheartedly, chiming in.

Zhu Baogen, usually reserved, also felt it was inappropriate for Xiao Gong to find a partner back ho, murmuring, "Master Gao could help with an introduction; there are many female teachers at Four Factory Primary School and Four Factory Middle School."

Sitting down, Han Yu laughed and said, "Captain Fan, Uncle Zhu, you don’t understand the situation; you can’t just set up random matches."

"What’s the situation?"

"The girl Xiao Gong is going to see is soone he has had a crush on for many years!"

"Really?"

Xiao Gong, teased and embarrassed, was scratching his neck unsure of how to explain when the sound of brakes ca from outside. Imdiately after, Shi Shengyong hurried in.

"Director Yu, Instructor Chen, you’re all here!"

"Director Shi, take a seat."

Shi Shengyong, too anxious to sit, asked eagerly, "Is it about those major cases on the river being settled? Are the superiors going to comnd us?"

Han Yu pulled him down to sit, laughing, "Since they’re major cases, settling them won’t be that fast. Besides, for us police, the crackdown is over. But the Procuratorate and courts are still not done; I heard they have a mountain of cases to prosecute and adjudicate."

"So, what’s today’s eting about?"

"We’ll find out soon."

While Changhang Bureau receives double leadership from Changhang Police Bureau and Binjiang City Police Departnt, it doesn’t an Bailong Port Police Station also receives double leadership from Changhang Bureau and Linghai Police Bureau.

But in matters like leadership team adjustnts at the station, Linghai Police Bureau is generally notified, since Bailong Port Police Station is in Linghai and inevitably deals with local police.

Pretending to know nothing, Han Yu chatted lively with Shi Shengyong, his forr superior and future partner, dragging the conversation here and there until Linghai Police Bureau’s Political Commissioner Sun Jiawen arrived.

While they were exchanging pleasantries, Director Li finally arrived.

Seating arrangents were crucial for etings. After Director Li and Political Commissioner Sun courteously gave way to each other, they finally settled down and got to the main topic.

"Comrades, on behalf of the bureau’s party committee, I will now announce the notification regarding the job adjustnts for Comrade Han Yu and others."

Salted Fish was being adjusted!

Chen Zikun, who had been kept in the dark, was instantly stunned.

Zhang Ping and Xiao Gong also couldn’t believe this was real, sitting agape around the conference table.

Shi Shengyong was also surprised, but then thought it made sense.

Scholar Yu’s position had been growing larger; Political Commissioner Wang had ntioned that Scholar Yu was not only the chief of the prefecture-level city’s Police Departnt but was also appointed last month as Suqian City’s mayor’s assistant and chief of the police bureau.

Being the mayor’s assistant is almost like being a vice mayor!

Although Director Chen of the Binjiang Police Departnt is also at the vice director level, he’s just a mber of the party group of the Binjiang Municipal Governnt, barely qualifying as a city leader and quite reluctantly at that.

Now, Zhang Junyan is the chief of the Changhang Jiangcheng Branch; since Jiangcheng is the provincial capital, he holds a higher position within the Changhang Police System than Director He.

They not only watched Salted Fish grow up, but whatever he has achieved today is entirely thanks to Xu Sanye. To put it bluntly, they are Salted Fish’s biggest and second brothers.
