Chapter 58: Chapter 58: The Age of Fire
This is a sunny afternoon.
The queue in front of the Teleportation Gate of Sain Dungeon is still packed with people. If they don’t increase the number of gates soon, they might waste the hard-earned traffic.
People are entering and exiting all the ti; most of those who co out are carrying strange animals and plants, all procured from the Food Paradise area.
Treasure hunting in Food Paradise has already beco a routine for many.
Knowing the routes well, it only takes three to four deaths to successfully enter the Food Paradise once, and the gains from that one ti are enough to cover all previous expenses and still leave a substantial surplus!
"Food Hunters," as people who treasure hunt full-ti in Food Paradise are called.
Suddenly, a commotion arose among the adventurers waiting in line, their attention fixed on one particular group.
"Hey, look, isn’t that the Strategy Group? I heard they just ca back from a big defeat the other day."
"Ha, they always boast about how powerful they are, turns out they sneak into the Dungeon secretly. So dishonorable,"
"By the way, why did nobody notice when they sneaked into the Dungeon? Did they use magic that alters their appearance?"
Amidst the discussions, the mbers of the Strategy Group stood tall and proud—Leon "the Lion," Tal "the Strong," Maru "the Silver Cat," Drew "the Rock"...
With poker faces, they walked to the front of the Teleportation Gate. The adventurers who were originally at the front stepped in but recoiled in fear at the sight of them, pulling back their legs and letting the Strategy Group go first.
The crowd fell silent montarily until the Strategy Group had all gone through; then the noisy chatter resud.
"Was that really Leon? He seems like a different person, so terrifying,"
"Didn’t you notice how grim they all looked? Could they be cursed?"
"He glanced at , and I was nearly scared to death..."
Inside the Sain Dungeon.
Gong Qiying was observing everything through a Crystal Ball.
Ever since the Strategy Group entered the Dungeon, they had displayed overwhelming power, clearing out all the monsters along the way, demonstrating what it ans to speed through a cesspit.
Each of them seed stimulated, unlike before when they would chatter and heckle during battles. Now, they were all intensely focused on slaying Monsters, demonstrating high skill and seamless cooperation—they were like a giant lawn mower right now.
It is hard to imagine that they could exhibit such power right after recovering.
Are they serious now?
After they moved into the heavily infested Sick Village area on the upper level, their relative speed slowed down, but they quickly matched their previous pace.
With the experience from last ti, Leon didn’t take the fork in the road with the teleportation trap but chose the widest road with the most monsters.
This decision proved to be very correct, as this was indeed the right path.
"Roar!"
The Huge Living Corpses roared as they charged forward. Tal, a huge figure himself, took on three at once, knocking them down, with Maru moving in for the finishing cuts.
"Swoosh, swoosh—"
Hidden Blowgunners on the rooftops fired a volley of poisoned darts. Drew quickly raised a Magic Barrier, blocking the first wave.
When the barrier shattered, the second wave of Arrow Rain ca, and Leon and Tal swung their weapons vigorously to defend, while Drew and Maru, one covering long-range shots and the other slashing throats up close, quickly cleared the Blowgunners before dealing with the remaining Animated Corpses.
"Click clack clack—"
A Huge Living Corpse knocked down did not die but made strange noises. Subsequently, a massive beast, indescribable and resembling writhing Black Snakes, erged from within the corpse!
[Human’s Pus]
[Spiritual Power required per unit: 99]
[Overall Combat Power: D-]
The sudden appearance of the monster shaped like a huge Black Snake threw the Strategy Group’s combat into disarray, especially with two or three more Huge Brothers lurking ominously nearby.
Still following a familiar tactical distribution, Tal was MT, Leon was main C, Drew supported, and Maru kited.
After sustaining so injuries, they quickly grasped the battle style of Human’s Pus and successfully defeated it.
Thus, the path covered by Steeran’s Hound Step, through the heavy-set brother Street, was officially declared conquered by the Strategy Group!
Indeed, strength is the ultimate argunt!
Afterward, the Giant Curse Frog brought them even less pressure than the bizarrely-shaped Human’s Pus; they burst it into Gold Coins in no ti.
It was rely playing the boss.
After the Giant Curse Frog died, Leon finally saw the bonfire he had long yearned for.
It was different from what he had imagined.
It was just a pile of ashes with a strangely-shaped sword stuck in it—the blade being spiral-shaped. Could such a thing really kill anyone?
He tried to pull out the Spiral Sword but the instant he touched it, he burnt his palm; though there was nothing on the hilt, it felt as hot as fierce fire.
"Magical,"
Leon smiled, feeling he had found the right place, and then ignited a fla and threw it into the bonfire.
"Boom—"
The bonfire blazed up instantly, the bright light brimming with vitality and warmth, as if the world would not end as long as the fire kept burning.
When their pupils reflected the light, a hoarse voice suddenly rang in the ears of everyone in the Strategy Group.
"In the ancient tis, before the world had differentiated, shrouded in thick fog, everywhere there were gray rocks, towering trees, and the immortal Ancient Dragons..."
A deep lody started to play from nowhere, and everyone’s consciousness seed to be pulled into another world, where strange scenery slowly unfolded accompanied by the hoarse narration.
"But one day, the first fire was lit, and all differences arose from it,"
A blaze dispelled the fog, and the world burned fiercely.
In the darkness, born races found sothing around the fire.
"A few races born from darkness, tempted by the flas, found the King’s soul beside it,"
The music suddenly intensified, as if people were singing in unison!
One mysterious figure after another erged!
"The first dead, Nite,"
"Izaris the Witch and daughter of Chaos,"
"Sunlight King Gwyn and his Knights,"
"And the Dwarves, whom no one had ever seen,"
"They gained the King’s power and challenged the Ancient Dragons,"
The intense and forceful music, and the grand and majestic warfare unfolded before everyone—the Sunlight King pierced the body of the Ancient Dragon with the Thunder Spear, The first dead released the Death Miasma, Izaris’s Witch’s Fla Storm scorched everything, and the scale-less White Dragon stood on the Ancient Dragon’s corpse and roared.
Everyone was montarily captivated.
A roaring fire danced in front of them, and under the blessing of the fire, the world prospered.
"The era of fire thus began,"
The music abruptly stopped, and Leon and others were instantly snapped out of it.
The bonfire burned quietly, as if nothing had happened.
He sat dumbfounded in front of the bonfire, his mind still not recovered from the scene he had just witnessed.
Was that an illusion, or what? Why did it feel so real?
Could it have been sothing that happened in the past?
"What exactly... was that?"
