Chapter 467: Chapter 466: Spirit Suppressing Domain
Zhan Xiong was startled. He knew Ye Fan was extraordinary, but he had no idea he was this terrifying. An indestructible physical body! Even experts at the peak of the Saint Realm would find it extrely difficult to achieve such a formidable level of Body Refinent. Such strength is truly awe-inspiring!
He said to Ye Fan, "Brother Ye, your talent is exceptional, but I didn’t expect you to progress so rapidly. I have always known you were destined to be an influential figure in the Martial World!"
"You flatter , Senior," Ye Fan replied with a smile. He then added, "I intend to challenge the Reincarnation Realm next."
Upon hearing this, Zhan Xiong exclaid in shock. Perhaps it’s really possible!
Of course, he knew he himself would never enter the Reincarnation Realm, as it was a practically mythical state of existence. However, if Ye Fan managed to break through, he would be genuinely happy for him.
"By the way, Senior," Ye Fan asked, "who exactly is your master?"
"They are the Spirit Suppressing People," Zhan Xiong replied. "The guardians of this world."
"Have you ever visited the place they guard, Senior?"
Zhan Xiong gave a wry smile. "I would love to see it, but my strength simply doesn’t qualify. I’ve never been there. My master once said that unless one reaches the Supre Peak, they shouldn’t even think about going."
Although he felt helpless, Zhan Xiong spoke the truth. His current strength was still at the Emperor-level Peak, and given his advanced age, breaking through to the Supre Realm seed utterly impossible. Even if a breakthrough were possible, it would not be an overnight matter. It would require more than ten years at the very least, and that would only be with a great deal of luck.
This was the reality of the martial path: only those who possessed both talent and diligence could reach greater heights.
Half an hour later, one of Zhan Xiong’s subordinates brought over a map. Ye Fan looked at it and said, "Now I understand."
"Since you understand, you should go," Zhan Xiong reminded him again. "What you’ll see may be cruel, but this is the reality every Martial Cultivator must face. You will understand once you get there."
Ye Fan nodded and left imdiately.
Following the markings on the map, he arrived at a hidden valley within the Qinling Mountain Range. Inside, he sensed an endless Slaughter Aura perating the air. Just as he was preparing to advance, the call of a bird reached his ears. Ye Fan looked up to see a Spiritual Eagle. It was extraordinarily beautiful, clearly a Spiritual Beast of a high grade.
"Are you here to get ?" Ye Fan asked.
The Spiritual Eagle swiftly descended, landing beside him. Ye Fan mounted the Spiritual Eagle, which imdiately took flight.
It was a concealed spatial gate. If Ye Fan hadn’t seen it with his own eyes, he never would have believed such an imnse place existed. He rode the Spiritual Eagle, weaving through the clouds. About half an hour later, the eagle descended.
This place looked like a paradise, yet Ye Fan could sense a potent aura of slaughter. However, the Spiritual Energy was incredibly abundant. If he were to cultivate here, his progress would surely be twice the result for half the effort.
At that mont, a figure appeared. Ye Fan had t him before; it was Zhuang Zhou.
Zhuang Zhou greeted Ye Fan with a smile. "Welco to the Spirit Suppressing Domain!"
"What is this place?" Ye Fan inquired.
"The Spirit Suppressing Domain!" Zhuang Zhou replied at once.
"And what is the Spirit Suppressing Domain?"
"This is the barrier that prevents the Spirit Clan from reaching the mortal world," he explained. "If this barrier were to fall, the good days for mortals would be over! Everything you see before you is a mirage!"
"A mirage?" Ye Fan was shocked. He hadn’t expected this place to be an illusion.
Sure enough, with a wave of Zhuang Zhou’s hand, the paradise vanished. In its place was an endless land of slaughter, strewn with wreckage and ruins—clearly the aftermath of a great war. Now Ye Fan understood. He had sensed the onslaught of slaughter auras earlier; he now realized everything he had just seen was nothing but an illusion.
"So this is what this place is truly like," Ye Fan said grimly. "How cruel."
"This is just the periphery of this cruel land. It isn’t convenient to speak here. I will take you sowhere else," Zhuang Zhou told him.
Ye Fan nodded and followed him. About ten minutes later, they arrived inside a dilapidated ancient building. The contrast between the illusion and reality was stark.
Zhuang Zhou said to Ye Fan, "Before the great war between the Spirit Clan and the Human Clan, this place looked just as you saw it in the illusion—a veritable paradise."
"What exactly is the Spirit Clan? And what is their connection to the Divine Race?" Ye Fan asked. This was what confused him the most, and he was desperate to understand the relationship between the two.
At this, Zhuang Zhou stated, "The Spirit Clan mbers are, in fact, servants to the Divine Race."
"Servants to the Divine Race!?" Ye Fan was astounded. This was sothing he could never have imagined.
Zhuang Zhou explained, "The relationship can be understood this way: the Divine Race are superior beings with powerful cultivation. While the Spirit Clan is much weaker than the Divine Race, they are still far stronger than mortals. In a sense, they are the Divine Race’s emissaries in the mortal world."
With this explanation, Ye Fan finally understood.
"We have been at war with the Spirit Clan for thousands of years," Zhuang Zhou continued, his voice filled with sorrow. "The line of battle stretches all the way back to the Ancient Era. Sadly, our numbers—the Spirit Suppressing People—are dwindling. The Spirit Clan, on the other hand, continues to grow in number and strength! If this continues, the day they breach the defenses our human ancestors built is not far off!"
"Why do they attack this place?" Ye Fan asked.
"Because they need vast numbers of slaves to work for them," Zhuang Zhou told him, sharing the grim reality. "A new mber of the Spirit or Divine Races is only born once every century or so, but humans are different. Humans can be born within a year or two, and in great numbers. Therefore, they need a massive resource of slaves to work for them, serving them day and night without rest!"
Only then did Ye Fan realize how complex the situation truly was. He then asked Zhuang Zhou, "Why doesn’t the Divine Race fight directly? If they entered the battlefield, your Spirit Suppressing People wouldn’t stand a chance, would you?"
The words were harsh, but they were undoubtedly true. Ye Fan had experienced the might of the Divine Race firsthand. A single Divine Pet had nearly killed him. If the Divine Race themselves were to join the fray, who could possibly be their opponent?
Zhuang Zhou replied, "Because of this barrier. It does an excellent job of preventing beings of extre power from descending into our mortal world. If the Divine Race were to co here, they would certainly be suppressed by the Heavenly Dao Laws! In that event, they would lose their cultivation at best, or their lives at worst. That is why the so-called Spirit Clan serves as their tool for fighting us, the Spirit Suppressing People."
Ye Fan now understood the situation completely. Still, he had more questions. He asked, "Since humans reproduce the fastest, why did you say the Spirit Clan’s numbers are increasing while the number of Spirit Suppressing People is dwindling?"
Zhuang Zhou replied, "Although humans are nurous, you must know that in our world, the Spiritual Energy is depleted. Since ancient tis, those who have reached the Supre Realm have been few and far between. For you to have cultivated to your current level... looking across the entire Divine World, there is no one with talent as great as yours. If you had cultivated here from the start, you might have already broken through to the Reincarnation Realm."
Zhuang Zhou’s words were not flattery; they were a statent of fact.
Ye Fan gave a wry smile. This place might be abundant with Spiritual Energy, but what a heavy price one would have to pay to survive here and fight against the mighty Spirit Clan.
