Chapter 462: Chapter 461 Cain Appears

At that mont, a high-ranking mber of the Blood Clan respectfully addressed Ye Fan. "King of Heaven!"

Ye Fan had demonstrated his formidable strength by slaying the four Holy Envoys from the European Church Court, making him a benefactor to the Vampire Clan. Therefore, the man felt compelled to pay his respects, especially since Ye Fan’s power now surpassed that of their Vampire Queen.

"What’s going on?" Ye Fan asked.

"These are prisoners from the European Church Court. I am under orders to execute them!" the high-ranking vampire replied.

Ye Fan’s gaze swept over the captives. "They are old, weak, and powerless. They are clearly not prisoners. In the war between your two clans, do you not even spare the innocent?"

It was impossible for Ye Fan not to be furious. Though his own hands were stained with blood, he only ever killed those who deserved to die. He would never slaughter the innocent indiscriminately.

The high-ranking vampire explained, "They may not be a threat now, but these children will grow up to be enemies of our Vampire Clan. Therefore, they must die. We have to pull the weed out by its roots!"

"Release them!" Ye Fan commanded. He didn’t even bother to give a reason, simply ordering the vampire to free the terrified innocents.

"King of Heaven, you put

in a difficult position. These are orders from above. I cannot comply!" the high-ranking vampire said with apprehension.

"Release them," Ye Fan declared, his voice dangerously low. "Otherwise, I will stop being polite. I will not stand by and watch you kill these innocent people."

His killing intent surged, and the high-ranking vampire was instantly terrified.

"Release them!"

A calm voice suddenly cut through the tension. The high-ranking vampire imdiately bowed his head in deference. "Yes!" He ordered his subordinates to free the prisoners at once.

The person who could issue such a command was, of course, Heather.

"Is your Vampire Clan always this cruel?" Ye Fan asked, turning to her.

"They chose to be our adversaries, so they are dood to suffer the consequences. If my Vampire Clan were defeated, our own people wouldn’t escape such a massacre!" Heather replied coldly.

"No," Ye Fan countered. "This has nothing to do with these innocent people. This is a matter between your leaders. With all this killing, have you never tried to see it from another perspective? How would you feel if it were the civilians of your Vampire Clan being slaughtered?"

His voice was heavy with emotion. Having lived through a war-torn era, he knew all too well the miserable fate of the innocent. At that mont, a pang of sympathy struck him.

"Don’t ask

to put myself in their shoes," Heather said. "In my eyes, victory is survival. Defeat ans we all die together, even the civilians of my clan! If I were defeated, they would only live on as slaves. It would be better for them to die!"

"It seems you still don’t understand what it ans to live," Ye Fan said, his voice laced with disappointnt.

"I don’t need you to teach !"

The two were at a sharp impasse.

"As long as I am here," Ye Fan declared, "I will not permit such things to happen!"

"This is the Vampire Clan, not your Divine Land!" Heather retorted.

"It doesn’t matter where," Ye Fan said coldly. "I can make an enemy of the European Church Court, and I can just as easily make an enemy of the Vampire Clan."

They faced off in tense silence. After a long mont, Heather relented with a helpless sigh. "I won’t argue with you. My grandfather has awoken. He wishes to see you."

"Fine," Ye Fan agreed. His anger subsided only because the innocent people had been released.

Ye Fan and Heather proceeded to the deepest part of the Vampire Clan’s Holy Mountain. Ye Fan regarded the Cain Ancestor with reverence, as this was not their first eting. The Ancestor could revive even those on the brink of death; he truly had a few tricks up his sleeve. A person like this possessed heaven-defying thods and even more formidable combat prowess. He was, after all, soone who could stand on equal footing with the European Pope.

The Cain Ancestor was an old man who looked worn by the ages. He possessed the noblest bloodline of the vampires and led the entire Vampire Clan. He was a great figure who had survived since the Ancient Era and was dressed in the clan’s most ancient attire.

When he saw Ye Fan, his expression was not particularly welcoming.

I wonder what this old fox is up to, putting on a face like that.

"You’ve arrived," the Cain Ancestor said.

"Elder, I am Ye Fan, here to pay my respects." For such an ancient relic—or rather, an old fox—Ye Fan showed ample deference.

The Cain Ancestor waved a hand. "Let’s dispense with the cumberso formalities. I’ve called you here to discuss sothing."

"What might that be?" Ye Fan asked, though he had a strong suspicion it was about dealing with the European Church Court.

Heather remained silent. She knew well enough that her grandfather hated being interrupted when he spoke.

The Cain Ancestor said, "First, I must thank you. You helped our Vampire Clan eliminate the four Main Gods of the European Church Court, and you also dealt with the Werewolf Clan."

"I only did what I should have," Ye Fan replied. He wasn’t saying this to flatter the old man, but for Heather’s sake. Since she was his woman, her problems were his problems.

The Cain Ancestor gestured dismissively. "I know. But the European Church Court is still powerful. Back when I contended with the Pope, I was actually a notch weaker than him."

Ye Fan was shocked. So he was weaker. Still, it was hardly surprising. The strength of the European Church Court was widely acknowledged; it was already comndable that the Cain Ancestor could contend with the European Pope at all.

"Confronting the European Church Court is our highest priority," the Cain Ancestor continued. "Now that I have awakened, it’s ti for a truly satisfying battle. But first, I have a question for you."

"Please ask, Elder," Ye Fan said respectfully.

"The matter is simple," the Cain Ancestor said, his eyes fixed on Ye Fan. "Do you love Heather?"

"Grandfather!" Heather started to object but was silenced by a look from the Cain Ancestor. She had no idea why her grandfather was asking this, nor what his purpose was. Ye Fan was naturally even more bewildered.

"I do," Ye Fan stated clearly. "If I didn’t love her, I wouldn’t have done all these things for her, let alone for the Vampire Clan."

The Cain Ancestor nodded. "Very well. Since you love her, I have three conditions for you. Consider them a test."

"What three conditions?" Ye Fan asked curiously.

"Simple enough," said the Cain Ancestor. "First, you must join

in fighting the European Church Court with all your strength."

"Rest assured, Elder. I will do my utmost," Ye Fan replied without hesitation. In truth, he had no other choice. If he didn’t give his all against the European Church Court, the Shen Zhou Martial Artists would be the next to suffer once the Vampire Clan was dealt with.

The Cain Ancestor then said, "Second, you can have no other woman besides Heather."

Upon hearing this, Ye Fan was visibly stunned.
