Chapter 300: Chapter 299: Killing the Ghost Emperor
"Heh heh. Despair, boy! I originally thought I’d never have to use them in this lifeti, but you have successfully enraged !" the Ghost Emperor shouted at Ye Fan. "Now, you will beco their al!"
Ye Fan was on full alert. Suddenly, a Corpse Turtle rushed at him, waving its black tentacles. He quickly blocked it with the Yuanhong Sword.
The other two also charged. Ye Fan leaped to escape the encirclent, but at that mont, the three Corpse Turtles all emitted black tendrils from their mouths. These tendrils quickly wove themselves into an enormous, sky-covering net that sought to engulf him.
Ye Fan accidentally jumped onto the net and was imdiately stuck fast by the viscous tendrils. He struggled with all his might, but his efforts were t with a soft, yielding force that absorbed his strength. In response, he frantically swung the Yuanhong Sword, severing the strands of the Corpse Turtle web one by one.
Just as the three giant Corpse Turtles were about to bear down on him, Ye Fan threw the Yuanhong Sword upwards. The blade pierced straight through one of the creatures, despite its extrely hard black scales.
Seizing the opportunity, Ye Fan swiftly gathered his True Qi.
"Pure Yang Power!" he roared.
The formidable power manifested, instantly disintegrating the dense web of tendrils. He broke free just as the two remaining giant Corpse Turtles lunged, closing on empty air.
"Damn it!" the Ghost Emperor cursed under his breath. He hadn’t expected such a turn of events just as victory seed within his grasp. Enraged, he commanded the last two Corpse Turtles to attack Ye Fan again.
The creatures’ claws struck the rubble-strewn ground with a grating CRUNCH. Ye Fan quickly dodged. These two behemoths were not easy to deal with.
In the midst of the chaos, the Ghost Emperor struck again, flicking hair-thin needles at Ye Fan in an attempt to afflict him with the Ghost Suppressing Technique. But he had already experienced the resilience of Ye Fan’s constitution and knew he couldn’t get the better of him. He abandoned the attempt, aiming instead to land a single, devastating blow.
A perfect opportunity!
The Ghost Emperor knew his chance had co. At that mont, Ye Fan was completely occupied fending off the two giant Corpse Turtles, leaving his back exposed.
Seizing the opening, the Ghost Emperor made his move, slamming his palm into Ye Fan’s back.
BANG!
The force of the blow sent Ye Fan flying. He spat out a large mouthful of blood. The strike was severe, and he felt his organs churn within him. Ultimately, he had been a step too slow. The Ghost Emperor had found an opening and nearly crushed him with a single attack.
He staggered to his feet.
The Ghost Emperor sneered, "Boy, how much longer can you hold on this ti?"
Ye Fan didn’t answer. Instead, he held the Yuanhong Sword horizontally in front of him.
"Returning to the Sect Sword!"
He suddenly unleashed the sword technique. Upon contact with his deadly Sword Qi, the two giant Corpse Turtles burst open, their tough scales providing no protection. They spewed thick, green venom and perished in an instant.
"No!" the Ghost Emperor roared in anguish.
He hadn’t anticipated such a brutal outco. In the blink of an eye, Ye Fan had slain the three precious treasures he relied on most.
He howled, "Why must you always oppose ?"
"Because I gave you a chance and you didn’t cherish it," Ye Fan said with disdain. "So don’t bla
for being ruthless!"
"Good. Very good. Today, I’ll take you down with !" the Ghost Emperor declared coldly.
"I’ve said it before," Ye Fan replied, his voice just as cold. "You’re not worthy of taking
down with you."
He raised the Yuanhong Sword and executed his strongest attack: the Returning to the Sect Sword. This ti, however, the technique manifested in an entirely different manner. It wasn’t as grand or imposing as before, but it was far sharper. The razor-sharp gleam of the sword carried an intense, murderous intent and a powerful Demonic Qi. Its edge seed to slice through reality itself.
As Ye Fan swung the blade, the Ghost Emperor, who had just been charging forward, froze in his tracks. He could only stare at Ye Fan in shock. In the next instant, still lost in his disbelief, his head tumbled to the ground. He died without uttering a final word.
"You brought this upon yourself," Ye Fan said coldly. "Don’t bla ."
He walked over, intending to search the Ghost Emperor’s body for the Trading Card. But just as his hands drew near, three black vipers suddenly burst forth from the dead man’s belly.
"Slash!"
Without the slightest hesitation, Ye Fan’s sword flashed. In an instant, the three vipers were sliced to pieces. Where the pieces fell, the very earth began to smoke.
Ye Fan drew in a sharp breath. Although his body was immune to most poisons, there was no guarantee it could withstand such an overpowering venom. The Ghost Emperor had lived up to his reputation as an insidious and cunning villain, trying to land one last treacherous blow even in death. If the mory of the black scorpion that had erged from the mouth of the Ghost Subduing Master he’d killed hadn’t put him on guard, he might not have been prepared this ti.
After searching for a few minutes, he finally found the Trading Card.
He quickly left the scene and returned to the area outside the prison. Seeing that Shangguan Qiuyue was awake but still very weak, Ye Fan turned to He Yu and asked, "Is she alright?"
"Boss, she’s fine now," He Yu replied. "She just vomited out a red pill and is back to normal. It was that pill causing all the trouble!"
"Ye Fan..." Shangguan Qiuyue said weakly.
Ye Fan rushed to her side. "Qiuyue, it’s alright," he said quickly. "Everything is over. I’ve got the Trading Card, and I’ve killed that insidious bastard."
"But I almost killed you," she said, her voice filled with guilt.
Ye Fan smiled. "That wasn’t your fault. You were being controlled by him. Besides, I’m alive and well, aren’t I?"
"Ye Fan..." Shangguan Qiuyue broke down, sobbing.
Even the strongest woman will cry when pushed to the breaking point. They also cry in relief when the ordeal is finally over—just like Shangguan Qiuyue now. She needed this release to relieve all her pent-up stress.
Ye Fan wrapped her in his arms, knowing that this ordeal, once overco, would make her more mature and even stronger.
He lifted her onto his back and said to He Yu, "Let’s go. Ti to leave this damned place."
"Okay!"
He Yu followed Ye Fan as they headed for the exit. The battle in the prison was over, and the fighting outside had also reached its conclusion. The dying screams from the battle were now clearly audible.
When they got outside, the fighting had ended. All one hundred-plus of the Ghost Emperor’s disciples had been slain. The nurous Thai Underground Boxers had once again proven their strength. Although they were just a group of desperados, when united, they beca true comrades—a band of warriors who required no commands or training. The trials of the arena had turned them into perfect killing machines, and each one had his own unique way of fighting.
Originally, there were only a few dozen of them, but successive waves of reinforcents had arrived, bringing the battle to an early conclusion.
The Underground Boxers had lost a third of their number. The power of the Ghost Suppressing Technique was truly beyond imagination.
