Chapter 284: Chapter 283 Demon Fox Appears
Afterward, Ye Fan walked step by step toward the Shadow Stream Master. The Master’s surprising calm made Ye Fan, who had intended to slay him, halt his advance.
The Shadow Stream Master said coldly, "Do you think breaking through Musashi Mountain ans you’ve won?"
"It looks that way to ," Ye Fan stated calmly, without a hint of fear.
The Shadow Stream Master continued, "You’re wrong. Bringing your elite troops here will only hasten their deaths. Even alone, I am more than capable of annihilating you!"
For so reason, the Shadow Stream Master sounded suprely confident.
"Stop spouting such nonsense! I’ll be the one to end you!" Nangong bellowed. With his fiery temper, he naturally wanted to charge forward and kill the man.
But Ye Fan held him back, shaking his head. Nangong trusted Ye Fan’s judgnt and refrained from advancing rashly.
"I’ll handle it," Ye Fan said.
He stepped toward the Shadow Stream Master. The surroundings were eerily silent as the Master slowly raised his head, watching Ye Fan approach.
Suddenly, he moved.
He triggered a chanism on the wall, and instantly, a twenty-ter-wide section of the floor collapsed. Ye Fan and the Shadow Stream Master plumted down together.
It turned out he had been waiting for the most opportune mont.
"Chief!"
"Chief!"
The many martial artists of the Heavenly King Hall cried out, worried for Ye Fan’s safety.
Nangong announced, "I sense a dreadful presence from the depths of this abyss. You all stand guard up here. I’ll go down and check it out!"
"Alright!" Black Fog imdiately nodded. It wasn’t that he was afraid to die—in fact, no one in the Heavenly King Hall feared death. But since even Nangong was wary, they knew going down would be useless and might even cost them their lives. Therefore, staying above was the best choice.
Nangong leaped into the pit. A frightening aura emanated from the darkness, originating from the pit’s deepest recesses.
He called out, "Chief, where are you? Are you alright?"
But only his echo answered. The space was vast and mostly consud by darkness, with only the faintest glint of light to be seen. He couldn’t find Ye Fan.
Suddenly, a figure attacked. Nangong moved swiftly to defend himself but was a step too late. The figure slamd into him, sending him flying back to crash fiercely against a wall. Nangong scrambled to his feet, on full alert. In this darkness, everything felt far too eerie.
Clutching his side, Nangong began to move forward. Suddenly, the figure reappeared. Unable to evade in ti, Nangong cursed inwardly. Damn it!
"Break!" another voice cried out. It was Ye Fan.
He swung his sword down. The figure let out a muffled grunt before vanishing back into the darkness.
"Chief!" Nangong called out.
Ye Fan said, "This guy is too cunning. He hides in the darkness and launches sneak attacks. Stay on high alert!"
"Yes!" Nangong nodded.
The two remained on guard, but aside from the pervasive, unsettling aura, there seed to be nothing else around.
DRIP. DRIP.
They heard a sound like dripping water.
"Chief!"
"Hush!" Ye Fan promptly cautioned, and Nangong fell silent.
Then, Ye Fan’s voice bood through the chamber. "Shadow Stream Master, you coward! Don’t you dare face
in a direct fight? You’re pathetic!"
But within the darkness, there was no sound other than his own voice. While Ye Fan was shouting, Nangong, in perfect coordination, had already concealed himself within the darkness.
Ye Fan shouted again, "Shadow Stream Master, if you have the guts, co out and fight your grandfather! I’ll even give you a hundred free moves!"
The Shadow Stream Master still gave no response. At that mont, however, Ye Fan moved, suddenly lunging toward the source of the dripping sound.
SWOOSH!
A powerful wave of Sword Qi struck forward.
"AARGH!"
A scream of pain echoed from the darkness. This ti, Ye Fan had severed one of the Shadow Stream Master’s arms. The Master quickly retreated, trying to hide again in the shadows. But just as he turned, he discovered Nangong was already standing before him.
Using his hands as weapons, Nangong pierced straight through the Shadow Stream Master’s abdon.
"GRUNT!" The Shadow Stream Master grunted in pain.
Nangong roared, "You dare sneak attack us in the dark? I’ll tear you to shreds!"
With a powerful wrench, he ripped the Shadow Stream Master’s body in two.
"This guy was so devious. We almost fell for his trap," Nangong said.
Ye Fan agreed, "He was indeed very cunning. Fortunately, he’s dead now."
Just as they were about to leave, loud shouts and tremors suddenly erupted from the darkness.
"What is this?" they wondered, shocked.
At that mont, Ye Fan said, "Nine-tailed Demon Fox!"
They imdiately went on high alert, fully aware of the creature’s terrifying power. Both prepared to give their all. From the depths of the darkness, a howl tore through the air, followed by a blazing conflagration that illuminated the vast cavern.
Ye Fan said, "It’s not even close, but I can already feel an imnse pressure!"
"What should we do now?" Nangong asked.
"Let’s face it!" Ye Fan declared.
"Okay!"
Nangong was a martial arts fanatic who loved to fight. Hearing that Ye Fan wanted to face this Nine-tailed Demon Fox, his fighting spirit ignited, and he prepared to use his full combat strength. Even if their foe was stronger, they felt no fear.
The two of them swiftly charged forward.
Finally, they saw the true form of the Nine-tailed Demon Fox. It was a massive fox wrapped in flas, its body at least ten ters long, with nine powerful tails.
It roared, "You dare disturb my slumber! I will make you pay with your lives!"
It conjured a Fire Light Sword and swung it down at Ye Fan.
CLANG!
Ye Fan parried with the Yuanhong Sword, blocking its most terrifying strike and shattering the Fire Light Sword.
Nangong threw a punch, clashing head-on with the over five-ter-tall Nine-tailed Demon Fox. He actually managed to stagger the beast, sending it stumbling backward until it crashed into a wall. But it quickly steadied itself and launched a punch that hit Nangong, sending him flying and shattering several stone pillars. Nangong staggered to his feet. It had to be said, this Nine-tailed Demon Fox was imnsely powerful.
Ye Fan launched an attack, but the fox retaliated by breathing a torrent of blazing flas that nearly lted him.
That was too close! Ye Fan thought.
He attacked again, but the Nine-tailed Demon Fox smashed down with its paw. Ye Fan was simultaneously seared by scorching flas and crushed by a vast pressure.
THUD!
He was sent flying, spitting blood.
At that mont, the Nine-tailed Demon Fox roared, "You dare injure ? I will kill you!"
Only then did they see that Ye Fan’s sword had managed to sever three of its fingers.
It charged toward Ye Fan, its perfect combination of speed and power creating a pressure akin to that of Hell itself.
THUD!
Ye Fan was severely injured once again.
The Nine-tailed Demon Fox raised its foot to stomp down. But Nangong slamd into it from behind, causing its foot to miss its mark. Ye Fan had narrowly escaped death.
However, Nangong was also exhausted. Even though their battle hadn’t lasted long, this Nine-tailed Demon Fox was incredibly, unimaginably strong. Even as Emperor Level experts, they were no match for this creature.
