Chapter 282: Chapter 281: The Great War Is Coming
"Retreat!"
The group of Japanese Martial Artists exchanged glances and finally began to back away slowly.
Nangong grabbed Miyaji Aoi’s arm and strode forward boldly. No one dared to block his path.
Miyaji Aoi was shocked. She hadn’t expected Nangong’s strength to be so terrifyingly overwhelming that he could even kill Takahashi Ryota. No wonder the King of Heaven trusted him so much.
When I get back, I must ask to beco his disciple, she silently vowed. I want to beco stronger.
It was unclear who started it, but suddenly one of the Japanese Martial Artists charged at Nangong. The others quickly followed his lead and rushed forward as well.
"Fu Hu!"
Nangong roared and slamd his fist into the ground. The entire area collapsed in an instant. The Japanese Martial Artists were aghast, their faces etched with horror as chaos erupted among them.
So were even crushed to death by the falling debris.
At that mont, Nangong pulled Miyaji Aoi along and moved with blinding speed, crossing the collapsing area in the blink of an eye.
This collapse buried over a hundred Japanese Martial Artists, entombing them forever.
BOOM!
The ground began to shake. All at once, the desperate wails of the Japanese Martial Artists were silenced. Nangong alone had been enough to throw the entire place into chaos.
This would be the most devastating loss the Shadow Stream Master’s Musashi Sect had ever suffered.
Once the two reached the villa, Miyaji Aoi imdiately reported to Ye Fan, "Master, I have fulfilled your mission. I found the two docunts."
Ye Fan said, "Good. You’ve done very well. Once I conquer Musashi Mountain and kill the Shadow Stream Master, the primary credit will be yours!"
"No, if it weren’t for Senior Nangong, I wouldn’t have made it out of there alive. The primary credit should be his!" Miyaji Aoi imdiately replied.
Nangong smiled. "What a fine young woman, so modest. I’m very pleased. The credit is yours; I rely helped you along the way."
Miyaji Aoi nearly fainted. He practically tore their base apart and calls it ’rely helping along the way’?
At this, Ye Fan said, "Alright, you two, don’t argue. When I take Musashi Mountain, the credit will belong to everyone!"
A cheer erupted from the group.
A sharp pain from her wound made Miyaji Aoi stumble, and she nearly collapsed. Luckily, soone nearby steadied her.
"Are you alright?" Ye Fan asked with concern.
Miyaji Aoi spoke weakly, "Master, I’m fine, but I have an impudent request!"
"Speak freely!" Ye Fan said.
"I wish to study under Senior Nangong. I hope that both Senior Nangong and you, Master, will grant my request," Miyaji Aoi said earnestly.
Ye Fan looked at Nangong and said, "I have no objections, as long as Nangong agrees!"
At that, Miyaji Aoi imdiately knelt before Nangong.
Nangong said, "Very well. Although I’m not fond of taking disciples, seeing your sincerity, I will accept you as my disciple!"
"Thank you, Master!" Miyaji Aoi said joyfully.
"Rise. And focus on healing your wounds," Nangong instructed.
Ye Fan then addressed the troops. "All forces, rest and regroup. We attack Musashi Mountain tonight. They’ll never expect us to attack so soon!"
"Yes!" the group nodded in unison.
Ye Fan began flipping through the docunts. He had tasked Heavenly Remnant with analyzing the defensive map of Musashi Mountain, which he now generally understood. His focus turned to the information regarding the Nine-tailed Demon Fox.
According to legend, the Nine-tailed Demon Fox was a Tailed Beast created by the Six Paths Immortal of Japanese mythology. After its descent, it ravaged Japan until it was defeated by the combined forces of many Japanese Martial Artists. Several great powers then sealed and imprisoned it atop Musashi Mountain. The local Japanese Martial Artists, in awe of its imnse strength, began to worship it and even adopted it as a totemic symbol.
So, Ye Fan finally understood the origin of the Nine-tailed Demon Fox: it was a destroyer of Japan.
He couldn’t help but marvel at this twisted nation, which worshipped its own destroyer as a sacred entity. Of course, it fit the Japanese character of "the Chrysanthemum and the Sword"—they despised the weak yet fanatically worshipped the strong, even an entity that had nearly destroyed them.
That night, Ye Fan issued his orders.
He turned to Black Fog. "Black Fog, you will take a team and attack from the flank using the route analyzed by Heavenly Remnant. Do not rush to the forefront! Wait until our other two forces have engaged, then charge in!"
"Yes!" Black Fog nodded, taking the map to confirm his attack route.
Next, Ye Fan turned to Nangong. "Nangong, you take a team and strike from the rear of Musashi Mountain. We’ll rendezvous at the Musashi Sect’s base!"
"Alright!" Nangong nodded.
The reason for attacking the rear of the mountain was that Ye Fan feared trouble from that direction. This strategy would allow them to start dismantling Musashi Mountain’s defenses early.
He then declared, "The rest of you, follow ! We’ll assault the front!"
"Alright!" the group roared, energized.
Although they were not nurous—just over a hundred in total—their combat strength was always at its peak whenever Ye Fan was with them.
Once everything was arranged, the three teams moved out.
Inside the base of the Musashi Sect, the Shadow Stream Master erged from his seclusion. He had only recently recovered from the injuries sustained in the Divine Land.
When he saw Takahashi Ryota’s body and the completely collapsed data archives, he grew furious.
He asked in a cold voice, "What happened here?"
"My Lord," his subordinate imdiately reported, "by the ti we arrived, the place had already collapsed. We managed to clear a path, but only a third of the docunts inside were left. We’ve also found out who did it: Miyaji Aoi, and a scholarly-looking man."
The Shadow Stream Master mused, "To kill Takahashi Ryota so effortlessly... this person’s strength cannot be underestimated. Apart from the King of Heaven, I fear no one else is capable of this."
He already had a grudge against the King of Heaven, and the sect’s leadership knew Miyaji Aoi had defected to him. Her appearance ant the King of Heaven had to be here as well.
But why were they in the archives? What information were they looking for?
The Shadow Stream Master suspected they might have been looking for Musashi Mountain’s defense map. However, he couldn’t bring himself to believe the King of Heaven would actually dare to lead an attack on Musashi Mountain.
"That audacious King of Heaven dares to run rampant on my Musashi Mountain," the Shadow Stream Master said coldly. "I let him escape last ti, but there will be no rcy for him now!
"Go, notify the intelligence team. Find the King of Heaven’s hiding place at all costs!"
"Since he dared to set foot in Japan, he won’t be leaving alive!"
"Yes, my Lord!" His subordinate acknowledged the order and left to begin a thorough investigation.
The Shadow Stream Master had intended to leave seclusion and return to the Divine Land to ambush the King of Heaven again. His previous injury had been a simple miscalculation, but this ti, he was fully prepared.
He had personally forged a new katana from the hide of the Nine-tailed Demon Fox, making it incredibly tough. He had strengthened his weapon as much as possible. After the Yan Clan’s Starry Sky Iron Sword shattered his katana, he had co to realize that for a Japanese Martial Artist, a broken sword ant they were already halfway to defeat.
His martial arts were now a notch higher than before, all because he had made a deal with the Nine-tailed Demon Fox.
The Shadow Stream Master would never forget the demon fox’s terrifying gaze. However, to grow stronger, he would release the Tailed Beast from its forbidden prison, no matter the consequences.
