Chapter 244: Chapter 243: The Wrath of the Yan Clan

anwhile, deep within the forest, an arrogant young man cleaved the head from a wild wolf with a single stroke. He was now wiping his prized blade with a handkerchief.

"Congratulations, Young Master. Your Swordsmanship has improved again," his n said respectfully.

The young man laughed. "Hahaha, my swordsmanship is progressing well. One day, I will catch up to my father. Achieving the Unity of Man and Sword is my goal!" He was very confident in his own strength.

Suddenly, an arrow flew toward him. With a flash of his sword, he sliced it in two.

"Be careful!" he had barely shouted the warning when three of his n were struck by arrows, killed on the spot.

"Ah! Who is it?" he roared angrily. "Attack!"

"We can’t, Young Master! We’ve alerted that mysterious Yan Clan. We have to get out of here!" The remaining five n imdiately ford a protective ring around the young man and fled in a hurry.

However, two more were shot down as they ran, leaving only three guards flanking the young man.

"What do we do? There are too many of them, and they’re catching up fast," one of the n said in a panic.

At that mont, the young man ordered, "To the trees!"

The four of them instantly utilized their movent techniques and began scaling the large trees.

When the group of Yan Clan martial artists arrived at the location, they found that the trail had suddenly gone cold. Just then, the Yan Clan Patriarch arrived at the sa ti as Ye Fan.

"Reporting to the Clan Leader! The last few of them reached this spot, and then we lost them!" one of the martial artists reported.

The Yan Clan Patriarch ticulously searched the surroundings. Ye Fan spoke up, "People don’t just vanish into thin air. I bet they’re hiding!"

"Oh? There’s nowhere to hide around here. Surely they couldn’t have hidden underground," the Yan Clan Patriarch said.

Ye Fan chuckled. "They might not be underground, but they could have gone up into the heavens."

As soon as he finished speaking, both the Yan Clan Patriarch and Ye Fan slapped the trunk of a nearby tree. The massive tree shuddered violently, and two n tumbled out of its branches.

The other two also leaped down from a different tree. The three guards imdiately ford a protective circle around the young man, eying their new foes with vigilance.

The Yan Clan Patriarch’s voice was like ice. "You dare to hunt the fierce beasts of Qilian Mountain on Yan Clan territory. Today, you will learn how formidable we are!"

"Hmph! So it’s that tribe of savages from deep in the mountains. I wager you wouldn’t dare lay a hand on !" the young man retorted. Although his three guards were at their breaking point under the imnse pressure, he remained as arrogant as ever.

"And why wouldn’t we?" the Yan Clan Patriarch asked.

"Because I am Ouyang Ke, the Young Master of Qingyu Castle!" he declared. "My father is Ouyang Feng, the Fortress Master of Qingyu Castle!" He announced his background and the power he represented.

Ye Fan seed to recall the na. Qingyu Castle was a major sword-wielding sect, once incredibly powerful. Ouyang Feng had supposedly achieved the Unity of Man and Sword, and he was considered the foremost expert of the Sword Dao in the Divine Land. Ye Fan had read the top-secret files of the Divine Dragon, which distinguished the marker of this power from that of the Yan Clan. The Yan Clan’s marker was pure red, while Qingyu Castle’s was yellow—a grade lower. Although it was only one grade of difference, the gap in actual strength was as vast as heaven and earth.

One could only say that Ouyang Ke was far too young and impetuous. If he understood the true strength of the Yan Clan, he would never have been so insolent.

At that mont, the Yan Clan Patriarch said coldly, "So, you are from Qingyu Castle. Even your father, Ouyang Feng, wouldn’t dare to be so presumptuous before , let alone a brat like you!"

"Charge!"

The Yan Clan martial artists imdiately rushed forward.

"Protect the Young Master!" the three guards yelled. In the face of absolute strength, their defense was utterly futile.

The Yan Clan Patriarch struck out with his palm, and the three n were instantly blown to pieces.

Seeing his subordinates suffer such a terrifying, instantaneous death, Ouyang Ke was terror-stricken. He stamred, his bravado gone, "You... you can’t kill ! If you kill , you’ll be making an enemy of Qingyu Castle!"

"An enemy? You think I fear Qingyu Castle?" The Yan Clan Patriarch advanced step by step. Ouyang Ke drew his sword, preparing for a final, desperate battle.

But at that mont, Ye Fan said, "Leave him to . I’ve consud too many resources lately. It’s ti to stretch my legs."

The Yan Clan Patriarch said nothing, simply stepping aside.

Ye Fan had already assessed Ouyang Ke’s strength. He was an Innate Expert. While such a level was normally beneath him, he decided to use this as an opportunity to hone his skills.

"You’re seeking death!" Ouyang Ke drew his longsword and swiftly unleashed his vaunted Dugu Sword Style. In his ti, Ouyang Feng had traversed the martial world with the Dugu Nine Swords, becoming a Sword Master. Now, the Dugu Nine Swords was unsheathed once more.

The mont the Dugu Sword Style was unleashed, Ye Fan moved, rushing directly toward Ouyang Ke.

Ouyang Ke sneered, "You dare face the Dugu Nine Swords head-on? Fool, I’ll take your life!"

However, just as the Dugu Nine Swords was about to connect, Ye Fan suddenly vanished. He dodged Ouyang Ke’s blade as if he had teleported before striking down with his palm.

PFFT!

The palm struck Ouyang Ke squarely on the head. Instantly, blood poured from his seven orifices as he collapsed, his face a mask of disbelief. Ye Fan’s palm strike was so swift that the legendary Dugu Nine Swords had no chance to be fully executed.

The Yan Clan Patriarch stated coldly, "Qingyu Castle dared to target my Yan Clan. This is a debt we will not take lightly!" He then commanded, "n! Send his corpse to Qingyu Castle! I want to declare that our clans are now irreconcilable enemies!"

"Yes, sir!"

I didn’t expect the Yan Clan Patriarch to have such a fiery temper, Ye Fan thought. But then again, with the Yan Clan’s strength, there’s no reason for them to back down. A great battle between the Yan Clan and Qingyu Castle is probably inevitable now, unless Qingyu Castle intends to act like cowards.

He then asked the Yan Clan Patriarch, "Where is Qingyu Castle located?"

The Yan Clan Patriarch replied, "To the east, about three hundred kiloters from here. Years ago, Ouyang Feng also trespassed into our territory to slay fierce beasts. He was later wounded by

and fled. I spared him and didn’t hunt him down. I never expected his descendant would dare to return! They clearly have no respect for my Yan Clan." The Yan Clan Patriarch was seething.

Ye Fan asked, "But what do they want the hearts of the fierce beasts for?" Could they just be after a tasty al? I highly doubt that.

The Yan Clan Patriarch explained, "They use the hearts to refine their physical bodies. The beasts of Qilian Mountain have incredibly powerful bodies, and their hearts contain the very essence of that power. Long-term consumption of these hearts can make a person trendously robust, rendering their body impervious to blades and spears and granting them imnse strength!"

With the patriarch’s explanation, Ye Fan finally understood. No wonder these people would risk offending the Yan Clan to hunt these beasts. It seems Qingyu Castle’s ambitions are anything but small.

The Yan Clan Patriarch turned to the Hunting Team. "Bury these beasts with proper rites."

"Yes, sir!" The Yan Clan Hunting Team got to work, seeking out the bodies of the slain beasts to give them a proper burial.

Seeing this, Ye Fan’s respect for the Yan Clan grew even deeper. No wonder they had thrived for thousands of years, remaining prosperous even in the age of modern civilization.

Today’s training was a wash, but Ye Fan felt neither discouraged nor annoyed. He knew that the impending battle with Qingyu Castle would provide him a far better chance to temper himself. He was eager to witness the true Dugu Nine Swords and to understand just how powerful the concept of the Unity of Heaven and Man in the Sword Dao truly was.

Only Ouyang Feng himself possessed the purest form of the Dugu Nine Swords. He would surely not let this provocation go unanswered. It wouldn’t be long before he ca seeking revenge. Now, Ye Fan’s goal was clear: he would step over Ouyang Feng’s corpse on his path to the Emperor Level.
