Chapter 122: Chapter 121 Final Repentance

When Ye Fan woke up, he found only Qin Yanran taking care of him. As he regained consciousness, Qin Yanran was so overjoyed that she threw herself into his arms.

"Ugh!"

Ye Fan let out a muffled grunt. Qin Yanran had unintentionally collapsed right onto his wound.

"My love, I’m so sorry, I didn’t an to!" Qin Yanran hastily apologized.

But it was hard to bla her. She had been watching over Ye Fan for a full day and night without a wink of sleep. She was not a formidable Martial Artist like him, who could go so long without rest.

What could Ye Fan say? He could only endure it. "It’s alright," he said. "I can take it."

Qin Yanran helped him sit up. He asked her, "Have things been chaotic these past couple of days?"

After all, with the Demon Emperor dead, the major powers throughout the Divine Land, and indeed the world, were bound to undergo a major shift. Turmoil was inevitable.

Qin Yanran replied, "My love, I don’t know about other places, but as for the Ye Family... You should go back and see for yourself."

"What about the Ye Family?" Ye Fan asked, puzzled.

"You should go back and see for yourself."

"Alright."

Ye Fan nodded. With Qin Yanran’s support, he got up, climbed into a car, and headed for the Ye Family residence.

On the way, Qin Yanran said to him, "My love, there was a very strange man."

"Hmm?" Ye Fan asked, not understanding.

Qin Yanran explained, "It was that man who likes to lurk in the shadows of the night. He stood outside your room for a whole day and night without moving an inch. He only left the mont you woke up!"

Ye Fan finally realized whom Qin Yanran was talking about. She was describing Black Fog.

I never expected Black Fog to pass up the chance to finish

off. It seems he’s a trustworthy person after all. I’ve been on guard against him this whole ti, but it looks like I was judging a gentleman by my own petty standards.

A somber scene was unfolding at the Ye Family residence. Because of Ye Langfeng’s situation, the entire family was steeped in sorrow.

In a dark corner of the Ye compound, a man lay on the verge of death. It was Ye Langfeng. His blood had almost completely coagulated. If he were exposed to sunlight, he would die in an instant. The place was dark and cold, and he was in a semi-conscious state.

Seeing him like this, the old patriarch’s heart ached. After all, Ye Langfeng was his grandson and a direct descendant of the Ye Family, even if he had once wished for the old man’s death.

Mrs. Jiang wept incessantly. Ye Tiannan stood to the side in silence, his heart heavier than anyone else’s.

"Child, open your eyes and look at us!" Mrs. Jiang pleaded. Her eyes were blurred with tears, and she looked as though she might collapse at any mont.

Ye Langfeng’s eyes fluttered open weakly. "I... I want... I want to see her," he rasped, struggling to speak clearly.

"Who exactly is she?" asked Ye Tiannan, who had been silent until now.

"Ah Zhen!" Ye Langfeng’s heart was filled with an infinite longing. Seeing Ah Zhen was his only remaining wish.

"Find Ah Zhen!" Ye Qingshan ordered at once.

Ye Tiannan hurriedly left to make the arrangents. He prayed for one last chance, hoped it wasn’t too late.

Although Ye Langfeng’s actions were unforgivable and had drawn the wrath of all, he was still a mber of the Ye Family.

"My son, hold on. Ah Zhen will be here soon," Mrs. Jiang said, her voice trembling.

"Mother, Grandfather... I’m sorry," Ye Langfeng said. "I’ve failed you, I’ve failed the Ye Family, and I’ve failed my Big Brother."

"It’s a pity I only realized the truth when it was too late. I’ve walked a path of no return. Don’t grieve for . This is my retribution, a punishnt for my own actions.

"I only hope I won’t cause you trouble in my next life."

"You haven’t failed us," Ye Qingshan said. "We are the ones who failed to discipline you properly."

He was right. If they had been stricter with Ye Langfeng in his youth, this tragedy might have been avoided. But the consequences were now irreversible. Ye Langfeng had to accept them, and so did the Ye Family.

Ye Fan had co to see this brother of his, who had once fought him to the death, one last ti. Despite Ye Langfeng’s many wrongs—enough to warrant his death several tis over—Ye Fan had to consider the dignity of the entire Ye Family. So he had co, leaning on Qin Yanran for support.

"It didn’t have to be this way," Ye Fan said.

"I’m sorry," Ye Langfeng replied weakly. "It’s my fault. The very thing I always pursued was sothing you disdained, yet I foolishly believed you wanted to take it all from . In reality, you never would have... you wouldn’t have even bothered."

"You committed countless wrongs, but that doesn’t matter now," Ye Fan said. "I forgive you."

"Thank you, Big Brother. The future of the Ye Family rests on your shoulders now. I am an indelible stain on our family’s na. I hope that after I die, you can all forget

and erase any trace of my existence. I don’t want to bring the Ye Family any more sha."

These past two days had been his most desperate, but they had also been his most lucid. In that ti, he had reflected on his past and finally understood what a fool he had been.

It was a sha that he couldn’t turn back now, even if he wanted to. It was just as the old patriarch had told him: if he continued down that path, there would be no coming back. Yet he had stubbornly walked it anyway, straight into a dead end.

Standing nearby, Ye Qingshan sighed heavily. "You will always be a son of the Ye Family. Your mistakes, no matter how grave, do not change that."

The old patriarch seed unable to watch the sorrowful scene any longer. He turned and walked out, looking as if he had aged ten years in an instant. His once vigorous white hair now looked utterly desolate.

Not long after, Ah Zhen arrived. She had been completely unaware of the events of the last two days. If Ye Tiannan hadn’t used his connections to find her, she would never have known what had beco of Ye Langfeng.

When she heard that Ye Langfeng didn’t have long to live, she nearly fainted. I can’t pass out now, she thought. I have to see him one last ti.

Ah Zhen once thought that with the downfall of Young Master Guo and his cronies, her and Ye Langfeng’s difficult days were finally over. She never expected this to be their fate. Though she was a courtesan, her heart belonged only to Ye Langfeng; no other man had ever moved her as he had.

Seeing Ah Zhen arrive, Ye Fan and Mrs. Jiang quietly left the room, leaving the two of them to their final farewell.

"Ah Zhen," Ye Langfeng said, "I’m sorry. It’s my fault I couldn’t take care of you for a lifeti. If there’s a next life, I want to take care of you until the end of ti."

These were his heartfelt words, spoken with the honesty of a dying man.

"I am already very content," Ah Zhen said through her tears.

"I’m sorry I never thought about marrying you," he said. "Will you hate ?"

"No, I won’t hate you," Ah Zhen said sorrowfully. "I knew I was never worthy of you. I just wanted to watch over you quietly. Just being able to see you was enough. I never dared to hope for more."

Perhaps from the very beginning, she had been prepared for this bitter outco. She didn’t hate Ye Langfeng, nor did she feel any resentnt.

"Such a good girl," Ye Langfeng said. "It’s just a pity I can’t be with you forever. By the ti I realized it, it was already too late. eting a good-for-nothing like

was the biggest mistake of your life. Ah Zhen, promise

you’ll live a good life. Get away from Shangjing. It’s a place of nothing but trouble."

But Ah Zhen said nothing, only wept. Ye Langfeng knew her too well; he knew she would never agree.

So he held her hand tightly and said, "Promise , otherwise I won’t rest in peace!"

He didn’t want her to be bound to him. That was his greatest wish now.

"Alright, I promise you."

Blood trickled from the corner of Ah Zhen’s mouth. In that mont, Ye Langfeng felt she was the most beautiful woman in the world—the one he should have cherished most, not the power and strength that had blinded his heart.
