Chapter 74: Jonathan
Rover frowned in confusion and asked, "His Tenant? What do you an?"
Leng Yan smiled. "I don’t know the details either. I only know he has a superpower that can randomly summon the soul of another race and grant it to his Tenant."
"What?!" Rover was a little startled. He asked softly, "You an... he can summon the souls of dead animals?"
Leng Yan shook her head. "Not animals, other races. Look at that man over two ters tall, with fangs so long they’re practically spilling out of his mouth. He received the soul of a High Orc. His physical strength is terrifying."
Rover took a deep breath, a strange emotion rising in his heart.
It wasn’t fear, and it wasn’t worry, but... greed. Yes, greed. If he could possess such a terrifying superpower, it would be the sa as turning all of his [Tenants] into races with transcendent power.
Leng Yan smiled. "Scary, isn’t it? Look over there."
She pointed at a woman leaning against the wall, cat ears on her head, and a cat tail swaying behind her.
"She has the soul of a Catgirl. Her speed is unbelievably fast, she moves without making a sound, and even her fingernails can extend—sharp like knives."
Hearing that, Rover wanted Jonathan’s superpower even more. However, he no longer had the chance to use the copying ability of [Mirror].
If he wanted to use that ability, he would have to raise his [Spirit] attribute to 150.
Besides, looking at Jonathan’s [Tenants], even if Rover still had the ability to copy superpowers, he wouldn’t be able to carry out that plan.
The copying ability of [Mirror] had a weakness: the target had to be in their most ntally chaotic or most desperate state.
Like Zac—his life was at its end, his mind sinking into unconsciousness, so Rover was able to use the copying ability on him.
As for the man with the shadow-moving superpower, he was so cowardly that being restrained for a short ti sent him into extre panic, so Rover also successfully copied his power.
But looking at Jonathan—confident and arrogant to the extre, with several [Tenants] around him who were not weak either—Rover wasn’t confident he could defeat Jonathan.
Joe was even more irritated than Rover by a hundred tis. He had been looking forward to using his superpower, only to be blocked here. A fire seed to be blazing in his chest.
However, seeing that those Survivors didn’t dare step forward, he didn’t dare act rashly either. After all, he had nothing special besides the superpower that let him shop.
At this mont, Nick and the other two moved toward Rover and Leng Yan. He glanced at Rover, then said to Leng Yan, "How about you and I cooperate?"
Leng Yan tilted her head, looked toward Jonathan, then smiled. "No need. I have my own way."
Nick frowned. "What way? Can you take
with you? Don’t worry, I can offer you a price you’ll be satisfied with."
Leng Yan covered her mouth and laughed. "Nick, the issue isn’t money. The issue is whether you have the qualifications to follow
and negotiate with Jonathan."
Nick’s face turned red as if it were about to catch fire. He ground his teeth. "I don’t have the qualifications? Then does he? A piece of trash like him..."
Klang!
Before Nick could finish, Selina had already drawn her sword, the tip pointing straight at his face.
"Watch out!" Damon shouted.
But Nick reacted faster than Damon expected. His hand, wrapped in a stream of green wind, struck straight toward the sword tip. However...
"What?!" Nick was startled, realizing Selina’s blade could tear through his wind.
"That’s enough!"
WHOOSH!
Leng Yan’s voice rang out. Selina’s sword tip was less than ten centiters from Nick’s throat, but at the sa ti, Nick’s other hand, wrapped in green energy, thrust toward Selina’s abdon, less than five centiters from her clothing.
They froze in that posture. Then Selina slowly stepped back. Her face showed no fear at all. Instead, her eyes were full of provocation as she stared at him.
Nick was different. Inside, both Damon and Laura were shocked as well. Only two days apart, Selina’s strength had increased to a level they could hardly believe.
They had to know that two days ago, when facing them, Damon and Laura were confident they could defeat Rover’s group.
But now that they t again, they no longer had that confidence. Even though Selina’s strike was a sneak attack, her speed was too fast. Moreover, her sword could even rip through Nick’s layer of energy.
That proved that even if Selina was still weaker than Nick, if she fought with everything she had, then even if Nick won, his body probably wouldn’t remain intact.
Seeing that scene just now, Joe was also startled. His face showed not only fear, but also jealousy. Extre jealousy, jealousy to the point that he wanted to kill Rover on the spot and take his won for himself.
’Why the hell? Why are his won not only beautiful, but also this strong?’ Joe cursed inwardly. He gritted his teeth, wanting to trade his entire fortune just to get Selina.
But he knew he didn’t have money right now. If he wanted money, then he had only one option: find a way into the supermarket.
"Did you forget what I said?" Leng Yan laughed at this mont. "We must unite. We can’t fight among ourselves."
"Tch!" Nick clicked his tongue, his gaze still locked on Leng Yan. He frowned. "Leng Yan, I’ll say it again. I need to enter the supermarket."
Leng Yan shook her head. "Now, whether we can enter the supermarket isn’t decided by
or you, but by him."
As she spoke, she pointed at Jonathan.
Rover lightly moved a finger. An invisible mirror appeared above Jonathan’s head, but the Catgirl leaning against the wall imdiately sensed sothing abnormal and turned her gaze toward that mirror.
Yet she couldn’t see anything. Above Jonathan’s head was only ordinary empty space.
"Sothing wrong?" Jonathan asked with a frown.
The Catgirl replied, "No, it’s just... I sensed a surge of energy appear, but..."
Hearing that, Jonathan looked toward the crowd. His gaze swept across the countless people surrounding them, and he imdiately noticed Rover’s group and Leng Yan.
He waved a hand, and a skinny man wearing black sunglasses stepped up beside him.
"Master." That man lowered his head and spoke respectfully.
Jonathan said, "Check the information on those people."
The man imdiately removed his sunglasses, his eyes fixed on Rover’s group.
He stared intently. The look in his eyes made Rover feel uncomfortable.
Rover had wanted to test an attack on Jonathan earlier, but the distance was too far. Moreover, the mont he used his superpower, the Catgirl had detected it at once.
It seed... using [Mirror] for a sneak attack was impossible.
In fact, what he’d just done had already drawn Jonathan’s attention to him.
’That man’s eyes...’ Rover frowned, his gaze locked on the man who had just taken off his black sunglasses. He thought, ’It feels like he can see . Can his eyes read my information, or even my mories?’
Rover moved a finger. An invisible mirror instantly appeared, shielding the space in front of him.
Of course, no one else noticed that mirror. Only the Catgirl, Jonathan, and Leng Yan sensed its presence. Even then, they could only sense it, they couldn’t see it.
"AGH!!!" The instant the man’s gaze t the mirror, he scread in pain. He covered his eyes with both hands, but blood still seeped through his fingers and flowed out.
Jonathan frowned when he saw that. A trace of killing intent flashed in his eyes, along with a chill so terrifying it made the air feel colder.
A woman stepped up, then supported that man and led him backward. Jonathan stood and looked toward Rover, smiling. "Was it you?"
Rover frowned. He knew he couldn’t hide anymore, so he nodded lightly. "Yes. I don’t like being peeked at."
"Bastard!" The huge man with massive fangs roared instantly. He charged at Rover, holding a spiked tal mace in his hands.
WHOOSH!
He swung the mace, the shriek of wind piercing the air, but Rover didn’t move at all.
At that mont, Selina grabbed her foil sword and charged at the man.
KLENG!
The foil sword was thin and slender, but when it collided with that massive mace, it didn’t show any weakness. On the contrary, it forced the man to take a step back.
The crowd that saw this was stunned as well. Their eyes widened, filled with disbelief.
They had to know that the man with fangs was over two ters tall, the muscles on his body like heavy armor. That spiked mace alone weighed at least over fifty kilograms.
And Selina? A sexy, slender figure. Even the sword in her hand was like her—artistic and delicate-looking.
Yet when it clashed with the spiked mace, it didn’t break at all. Instead, she pushed the mace and that man back a full step.
Selina placed one hand behind her back, holding the foil sword upright. Her eyes were full of killing intent as she stared at the man.
"Damn it! You..."
"That’s enough, Urlgun!" Jonathan said.
Urlgun ground his teeth, his face twisted with ferocity, but he still obediently followed Jonathan’s command, slowly stepping back.
Jonathan looked at Rover and smiled. "So it’s Leng Yan. You and your friends may enter."
Hearing that, Leng Yan’s gaze shifted to Rover.
Rover understood what her look ant: the one with the right to decide here was him.
Jonathan also noticed her glance. He looked at Rover and asked with a smile, "And this one is...?"
"Rover!"
"Ah!" Hearing Rover’s answer, Jonathan smiled. "Are you interested in cooperating with ?"
