Chapter 171: Self-destruct
In the dim room of Block B, Ad collapsed onto the floor.
Thud!
His knees slamd hard onto the ground, then his entire body curled up like a shrimp tossed into boiling water.
"Ughhh..."
A hoarse sound erged from his throat.
It wasn’t like the moan of an ordinary wounded person.
It was as if sothing was crawling within his chest, clawing at his throat, tearing apart his soul, then forcing him to swallow the pain back down inside.
Fresh blood gushed from his nose.
From his mouth.
Even the corners of his eyes began to seep thin streams of blood.
His already corpse-pale face was now twisted to the point of barely resembling a human form. His two hands clutched his head tightly, his fingernails clawing into his scalp until they drew blood, but he still couldn’t stop the feeling of pain tearing apart inside his soul.
The puppet had been incinerated.
It wasn’t just losing a tool.
Because to control it from afar, Ad had used his own soul as the connecting thread.
Right now, Thunder Dragon had not only burned away the puppet.
It had also burned away the portion of soul that Ad had embedded inside it.
It was as if soone had taken a red-hot knife and cut directly into his head, then slowly carved out a bloody hole.
A hole in his soul.
Hollow.
Cold.
But painful enough to drive a person mad.
"Master!"
Ryu hurriedly rushed forward, his face filled with alarm.
"Master, what’s wrong with you? Are you alright?"
His voice trembled.
His eyes also trembled.
But the hand he extended stopped halfway through the air, not daring to actually touch Ad.
It wasn’t out of reverence.
It was because he was afraid.
Afraid that Ad would suddenly raise his head and use so grotesque thod to drag him to die together.
But deep within Ryu’s heart, a dark thought madly scread.
’Just die.’
’Just hurry up and die already.’
’You’ve been wounded to this extent. Why are you still not dead?’
’Once you die, I’ll be free.’
’I won’t have to be your dog anymore.’
Ryu lowered his head deeply, hiding the eyes that had just flashed with that filthy anticipation.
He didn’t dare smile.
Didn’t dare reveal any joy.
He even forced himself to put on a worried expression, like a loyal servant about to lose his master.
Ad lay curled up on the ground, his breathing labored, a hissing sound erging from his throat like a wounded beast.
A long while later, he finally gritted his teeth and trembled as he braced his hand against the ground.
"Get out..."
His voice was so hoarse it was almost inaudible.
Ryu imdiately stepped back half a pace, lowering his head: "Yes... yes, Master."
But in his eyes, a flash of disappointnt briefly appeared and then vanished.
Ad wasn’t dead.
How regrettable.
...
Outside the apartnt complex, the battlefield had completely entered a stage of chaos.
Elith’s spiders, like a near-invisible white tide, crawled out from every crevice, every dead corner, every cracked patch of ice on the wall and on the ground.
Spider silk shot out continuously.
Swish! Swish! Swish!
Ice Goblins were dragged down.
Ice Wolves had their legs bound.
Ice Golems had their knee and shoulder joints tightly wrapped, their movents becoming sluggish like broken wooden puppets.
Morie’s Archer Ballista and Bouncing Ball Launcher also did not stop.
Armor-piercing arrows ripped through the wind, each shot aid at the weak points between the layers of ice armor.
The Bouncing Ball Launcher continuously slamd into the densest groups of monsters, causing them to slow down, fall into chaos, even crash into one another within their collapsing formation.
The Ice Wolf General stood on the back of the ice Wolf, her azure blue eyes growing colder by the second.
She saw it clearly.
Her army was being eliminated bit by bit.
Not crushed all at once.
But torn apart layer by layer.
Slowed down.
Divided.
Bound.
Then shot to death.
If this continued, the entire formation of the Ice Tribe would be exhausted to nothing.
In those azure blue eyes, for the first ti, killing intent appeared so heavy that it almost manifested into substance.
"Enough."
Her voice was so cold that the surrounding air condensed into frost.
The ice Wolf beneath her feet roared, its four claws digging into the layer of ice covering the apartnt complex.
The Ice Wolf General slowly raised the sword in her hand.
The sword, already long and sharp, began to vibrate.
Crack! Crack! Crack!
Layers of dark azure ice attached themselves to the blade from out of thin air.
One layer.
Two layers.
Three layers.
In just a few seconds, the sword in her hand had expanded into a massive ice greatsword more than ten ters long.
The blade was transparent like crystal, but within it flowed countless streams of dark azure cold aura, like the blood vessels of a living creature.
Terrible pressure spread out from the sword.
It didn’t just lower the temperature.
It made the souls of those watching through the caras feel a piercing chill as well.
As if just by being touched by that sword, not only would the body be frozen, but even one’s consciousness, mories, and soul would be permanently buried within a bottomless block of ice.
In room 2705, Elith suddenly frowned.
"She’s going for broke."
Morie said nothing.
Her gaze was fixed on the screen, her hands still placed on the control panel, but the aura around her had gradually changed.
Outside the door, Sunako also saw that massive ice greatsword.
She had been bound by Elith’s spider silk in an X-shape in front of the door since the round had begun. Now, watching that sword over ten ters long pointed straight at her, her face imdiately drained of all color.
"Aghhhhhhh!"
An ear-piercing scream rang out.
"It’s aiming at the door! It’s really aiming at the door!"
"I’m still hanging out here! Does anyone rember that I’m still hanging out here?!"
"Goddamn it! If you’re going to fight, fight, but why do you keep using
as decoration in the most dangerous spot?!"
Her tears poured out like a stream.
"I’m sorry! I’m truly sorry! I shouldn’t have taken on the side quest, shouldn’t have been captured by Nanoe, and certainly shouldn’t be in front of your door! Please, drag
inside!"
Beside her, Thunder Dragon was also startled.
Its two small wings spread open.
Its scales stood on end.
Its purple-black eyes stared intently at that ice greatsword. From its throat ca a wary cry.
Krit! Krittt!
Clearly, even it felt this strike was dangerous.
The mont the ice greatsword stabbed down, Elith imdiately raised her eyes.
"Co."
Countless strands of spider silk shot out from both sides of the door.
Swish!
The silk wrapped around Sunako.
Wrapped around Thunder Dragon.
Then yanked them sharply to the side.
"Aghhhh! Gentler! Gentler! My waist is about to break!"
Sunako was dragged horizontally across the corridor like a fish caught in a net, tears flying in the wind, her hair a ss. Her whole body spun half a turn before slamming into the wall on the side.
Smack!
Thunder Dragon was also pulled along, but it was much more agile. With a light flap of its wings, its body spun once in mid-air before landing beside Sunako.
It turned its head, looking at Sunako who was plastered against the wall, its eyes filled with contempt.
Sunako: "..."
"What are you looking at? I’m pretty brave, alright? I just scread a little loudly!"
Right after...
The ice greatsword stabbed straight into the door of room 2705.
BOOM!!!!
The collision exploded.
The corridor shook violently.
The layer of ice covering the outside of the apartnt complex was so shaken that thousands of small cracks appeared, spreading like a giant spider web.
The air was compressed and detonated.
A frenzied cold aura spilled out in all four directions, freezing the entire wall, ceiling, and corridor floor in the blink of an eye.
But the door didn’t budge.
Didn’t shake.
Didn’t crack.
Didn’t retreat even a little.
It stood there, silent, cold, like an absolute wall that no power in this world had the right to move.
The Ice Wolf General’s eyes widened.
Right after, on the surface of the door, blood-red veins suddenly lit up.
[Frenzied Blood Spike Door]
Erupted.
From between those dark red veins, countless blood spikes grew out.
Not growing inward.
But growing outward in reverse.
They were like the fangs of a giant monster slumbering within the door. After being awakened, they madly bit back at whoever dared to attack it.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
The blood spikes pierced through the ice greatsword.
Pierced through the cold aura.
Pierced even through the layer of ice armor on the Ice Wolf General’s arm.
100% standard damage reflected back.
No reduction.
No defense.
No resistance.
The massive ice greatsword imdiately cracked from the tip.
Crack!
A long fissure spread out.
Then a second.
A third.
A fourth.
In just one breath, the entire ice greatsword shattered into countless ice fragnts, exploding in mid-air like a deadly rain of crystal.
"Ugh!"
The Ice Wolf General let out a low, deep groan.
Her sword-holding arm was thrown back by the recoil. The ice armor at her wrist split open, and pale blue blood flowed down each finger.
But what was more frightening wasn’t the wound.
It was the poison.
From the marks left by the blood spikes, an eerie dark red began to spread.
It was like living roots, burrowing into her flesh, sucking her life away bit by bit.
For the first ti, a clear expression of pain appeared on the Ice Wolf General’s cold face.
Her body trembled.
Her breathing grew chaotic.
Her silvery-white hair also lost a portion of its cold shine.
The ice Wolf beneath her feet roared uneasily.
Below, the ice monsters also began to waver.
The ice Goblins panicked.
The ice Wolves growled, but could no longer hold the formation.
The ice Golems stood frozen in place, as if the orders being transmitted to them had beco disrupted.
The Ice Wolf General’s aura weakened.
Her entire army also disintegrated along with it.
Looking at that scene, Sunako’s tears hadn’t yet dried, but her mouth was already wide open.
"The door... is your door a monster?"
"That’s not right. Whose door reflects damage that horrifyingly?"
"I was hung in front of that thing for so long?!"
Thunder Dragon glanced at her.
Krit.
A very soft sound.
But sohow Sunako felt as if it was mocking her.
Inside the room, Morie stared intently at the screen.
There was no joy.
No relief.
On the contrary, her expression grew even colder.
"She wants to self-destruct."
Hearing this, Elith’s pupils contracted.
