Upon arriving at the market cottage, Cheng Zongyang found Ma San still processing the latest haul.
One Exotic Beast Spider King.
A tiger, a pig, and a wolf—three beasts suspected of being Exotic Beasts.

"Sir." Ma San imdiately stood, cupped his hands, and greeted him.
"It’s fine. Go on with your work; I’ll take over here. Oh, and the ginseng is in this lump of soil. Be careful when cleaning it, and try to minimize any damage."
Ma San glanced at the clump of soil, which was nearly a ter wide, and nodded. He then asked, "Can I soak it in water to clean it? It would be much easier to clean that way, and it shouldn’t damage the ginseng."
Cheng Zongyang considered this. ’I’ve never heard that you can’t soak it, and freshly dug ginseng needs to be washed anyway.’ He imdiately said, "You can."
"Yes, sir. I’ll get right on it."
With that, Ma San brought over an empty water vat and carefully placed the clump of soil inside.
Cheng Zongyang paid him no mind and started processing the three beasts killed by the Spider King.
He placed the large tiger on the counter first and said, "Appraise."

After a careful look, the results were just as he’d expected.
It was indeed an Exotic Beast, and a powerful one at that. But the information in the introduction left him feeling a bit unsettled.
"Injured by soone, it fled all the way into the Ghost Spider King’s territory, only to be killed by the Ghost Spider King. What rotten luck." Cheng Zongyang shook his head. ’Only a Martial Artist of the Fifth Grade or higher could injure a Tiger King in a Frenzy,’ he thought.
Then he shook his head again, not dwelling on it. It was normal for powerful Martial Artists to enter the Inner Mountain searching for Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures.
The Inner Mountain Pass wasn’t truly considered part of the Inner Mountain, and almost no one would venture in from the nearby village.
But the final note caught Cheng Zongyang’s attention.

He imdiately grabbed the tiger carcass and went outside.
To be on the safe side and avoid any nasty surprises like a Facehugger, he backed away slightly before using his Tang Blade to slice open the abdon of the tiger carcass.
There was no blood, nor were there any intestines.
Instead, the cavity was filled with white, silky threads and nurous round, white eggs.
Seeing this, Cheng Zongyang understood at once. The Ghost-faced Spider King had eaten the Tiger King’s internal organs, hollowed out its insides, and laid its eggs there.
’When these spiders hatch, the tiger carcass will be a ready-made al!’
Cheng Zongyang shook his head, fetched a basin, and placed all the unhatched eggs inside.
’These eggs are all about the size of a thumb, and it used a precious Tiger King’s corpse as a nursery. They must not be the sa species as those spiders I saw outside the cave before.’
After cleaning it out, he placed the tiger carcass—now just hide, bones, and so at—back on the counter.
