Chapter 41: Chapter 35: Advancing to Interdiate Wizard Apprentice

SCRITCH, SCRATCH...

Wei’en held a quill pen, writing the details of the case investigation on a sheet of parchnt.

He didn’t have to think much to write a report like this. All he had to do was embellish.

He even exaggerated Clelia’s strength to emphasize how grueling the battle was.

With his flowery prose, he managed to turn a brief battle into an epic tale of Lisi’s heroism.

Of course, without disrupting the report’s structure, he also made sure to highlight the flair of his own crucial shot...

Only after finishing the entire report did he take out the cri scene photos Marco had taken and glance at them.

"Sure enough, no matter how many tis I look at this, I just can’t accept it."

"Tina can’t accept it either."

Wei’en looked at the white-haired girl sitting beside him, sharing his desk, and smiled. "That’s the spirit."

After spending half a day with her, his opinion of Tina had changed considerably, and he was slowly coming to terms with the reality of their contract.

’The white-haired girl was wonderful in every way, except she was far too clingy...’

Just a mont ago, it had taken a great deal of convincing to talk Tina out of her idea of sharing the sa chair...

anwhile, in the break area on the other side of the office, Marco had been standing in front of a mirror for what felt like an eternity, ticulously arranging his hair and endlessly smoothing his clothes.

"Wei’en, I’m heading out for a bit. If Lisi asks, just tell her I’ll be back before quitting ti."

Wei’en looked up at his elaborate getup and teased, "You going on a date?"

"A date? No, no, no. I’ve rely received an oracle from the Love God, commanding

to rescue a beautiful maiden."

As he spoke, Marco spun around lightly and gave his ponytail a flashy flick. "Handso, aren’t I?"

"...Dashing." Wei’en’s mouth twitched. "Good luck."

’Hopefully, he gets it in one. Go straight from a bachelor to a family of three.’

"But of course... huh?"

Marco had just opened the door to step out when Lisi, walking toward him, smacked him right back inside.

"Where do you think you’re going?"

"Officer Lisi, you’re back... No, I an, I was just going to see when you’d be done."

Lisi didn’t believe a single word of that nonsense. She grabbed him by the back of the collar and dragged him into the office.

"Lisi, you can’t do this! It took

forever to get ready..."

"Hm?"

"...What I ant to ask was, Minister Yegor didn’t give you a hard ti, did he?"

Lisi couldn’t even be bothered to smack him. She just shot him a glare. "Get back to your desk. We have a mission."

"Oh."

Marco could only slump back to his seat, dejected.

Wei’en looked at her quizzically. "Is the mission related to Clelia?"

’He was very worried about Clelia’s parting words. If that beautiful psycho really had her sights on him, he wouldn’t even know what hit him before he died.’

"No. All follow-up work concerning Clelia and the Eternal Life Association has been handed over to the Combat Departnt. We’re not involved."

’Handed over to the Combat Departnt?’

Wei’en breathed a silent sigh of relief. ’That’s good. I just hope the Combat Departnt is up to the task of taking that woman down.’

Marco asked, "Then what is the mission?"

"Yegor reported the matter of the forbidden object to his superiors. Now they’re ordering us to confirm the casket’s location as soon as possible."

"Hasn’t it already been confird to be in Krimms Cathedral?"

It dawned on Wei’en. He pointed at the Cathedral outside the window. "We have to find the exact location where it’s sealed?"

"Yes." Lisi nodded, her expression grim. "And we can’t let anyone from the Dawn Church find out."

"That’s... going to be difficult, isn’t it?"

Wei’en thought about how domineering the Dawn Church was. The rule "Non-Dawn Believers shall not approach" was already enough of a headache for them.

Never mind trying to investigate deep inside the Cathedral.

Marco frowned as well. "Lisi, what’s your plan?"

’He knew exactly how difficult this mission was. If the Dawn Church discovered them, no one would escape!’

"We need soone to pose as one of the Dawn Believers and infiltrate the cathedral to investigate," Lisi said, taking a deep breath.

"Pose as a believer?" Marco asked, surprised. "Don’t you know that everyone in our Secret Investigation Departnt is already on the Dawn Church’s blacklist?"

"Even soone of Somlay’s status is only permitted in the outer areas of the Cathedral..."

This so-called blacklist was a list compiled by the Dawn Church’s Holy Professionals guarding Krimms Cathedral, specifically targeting all "dangerous" Extraordinaries within the Caster City State.

It contained not only their personal information but also their physical descriptions and more.

Lisi said helplessly, "You said it yourself—the *vast majority* of us. Right now, the only person who isn’t on the list and also knows the details of the situation is in our departnt..."

Before she could finish, both her and Marco’s gazes fell upon the black-haired young man still holding his quill pen.

Wei’en froze. ’The person not on the list?’

He pointed at himself in astonishnt. "You can’t seriously be planning to give such a daunting mission to , can you?"

He put heavy emphasis on the word "daunting."

’He was just a rookie who’d recently joined the Secret Investigation Departnt...’

’Uh, then again, it seems this mission requires a fresh face...’

"I don’t want to send you into danger, but you know as well as I do that if the Resurrection Casket appears, it will bring a crisis to all of Caster..."

"So it has to be ?"

"I’m sorry. I confird with Yegor multiple tis, but the orders from our superiors..."

Seeing her troubled expression, Wei’en fell silent for a mont. "What do I need to look out for?"

’He knew this wasn’t a decision Lisi had made on her own.’

’Unless he quit the Secret Investigation Departnt right now, there was no getting out of this mission.’

’He might as well get the full picture before deciding. If it was truly that dangerous—he’d just call it quits and find another way to make a living!’

Lisi had been about to try and persuade him further, but when she heard him relent, she quickly said, "It’s dangerous for us, but it won’t be that dangerous for you."
