Chapter 115: Chapter 115: A War of Words

Wang Yourong didn’t inspect the Rejuvenation Pills Fang Yun submitted too carefully, just giving them a rough once-over.

Based on her understanding of Fang Yun, this was more of a formality.

"Three batches qualify for fourth-grade rewards, and two for third-grade. Junior Brother, for this task, you’ll receive sixty-two Contribution Points and sixteen Lower Grade Spirit Stones."

After making a note for Fang Yun, Wang Yourong took his Token, first transferring sixty-two Sect Contribution Points to him, then placing sixteen Lower Grade Spirit Stones on the table.

Since she didn’t know whether Fang Yun had practiced refining Rejuvenation Pills on his own, Wang Yourong wasn’t surprised by his results. It didn’t make her reconsider her assessnt of his Alchemy Talent.

With Fang Yun’s Alchemy Talent, achieving these results would be a piece of cake for him, as long as he’d practiced with a few batches of Rejuvenation Pills on his own.

"My Alchemy task is to refine Rejuvenation Pills this ti, correct?" Jiang Yan asked for his assignnt, seeing that Fang Yun had collected his reward and Wang Yourong had finished her records.

"That’s right."

Wang Yourong turned and searched for a mont.

"Here is your task, and the corresponding Spirit dicine." After taking everything out, Wang Yourong added, "I hope you refine them properly this ti. Don’t let them all end up as fifth-grade rewards."

"Oh? Are you worried about , Junior Sister?" Jiang Yan smiled.

"Get lost! I just don’t want you to waste the sect’s resources."

Fang Yun glanced at Wang Yourong, then at Jiang Yan.

’Jiang Yan is probably just going to get the bare minimum reward again,’ he thought.

Without a doubt, Jiang Yan would use this opportunity—refining Rejuvenation Pills—to try and concoct a pill of his own design.

Jiang Yan might have already calculated the perfect mont to add the Spring Intestine Grass and the best way to process it while refining the Rejuvenation Pills, but that was all in theory.

There is a difference between theory and practice. He would still need to make many adjustnts before he could possibly refine the pill he wanted.

Every major and minor step in a Pill Formula’s refining process was the result of countless initial adjustnts.

"The quality of this Spirit dicine is so poor." Jiang Yan was displeased as he inspected the ingredients; this would affect his subsequent refining of the Rejuvenation Pills.

"You’re lucky to have them at all, so be grateful. If it weren’t for Elder He, you wouldn’t even be getting a task to refine Rejuvenation Pills."

"That little old man is still too stingy!"

Fang Yun now understood who the Elder He ntioned by Wang Yourong was.

This Elder He was also an Elder of Alchemy, and his status on Dan Cloud Peak was second only to the Managent Elder, Bai Heyan.

Elder He was Senior Brother Jiang Yan’s master.

Hearing how Jiang Yan referred to Elder He was enough to show that Elder He was very tolerant of him.

From their conversation, Fang Yun ntally pieced together an image of Elder He’s appearance and temperant. He had yet to et this Elder of Alchemy, who held the third-highest position on Dan Cloud Peak.

"Senior Sister Wang, Brother Jiang, I have other things to do, so I’ll be leaving now."

"Mm," Wang Yourong nodded.

She had originally wanted to chat a bit more with Fang Yun, but after being angered by Jiang Yan, she was no longer in the mood.

Right now, she only wanted to beat Jiang Yan in a battle of wits, to dominate him in an argunt and feel better.

As Fang Yun left the Dan Cloud Pavilion, he could still hear the faint sounds of their verbal sparring from inside.

Shaking his head slightly, Fang Yun quickened his pace and soon descended Dan Cloud Peak.

Next was ti for his cultivation. After that, he needed to make a trip to Artifact Casting Peak, and then return to the Dan Cloud Pavilion on Dan Cloud Peak to see what his next Alchemy task would be.

’My next Alchemy task should be refining Qi Enhancent Pills.’

’I won’t be assigned many other types of Alchemy tasks.’

...

「Near the end of the twelfth month.」

The Inner Sect Grand Competition was drawing closer and closer.

The registration deadline was in just a few days.

On the first day of the new year, all disciples who had signed up for the Inner Sect Grand Competition would find out who their opponent would be in the first round.

The opponents were chosen by a completely random draw. With bad luck, even an Inner Sect Disciple at the Qi Refining Tenth Layer could be eliminated in the first round.

If the number of registered disciples was odd, one lucky person would get a bye in the first round and advance directly to the second, receiving a reward without having to engage in Magical Combat.

「Inner Sect, Area A, Room 22.」

At this very mont, Fang Yun had just finished refining and absorbing an Upper Grade Qi Enhancent Pill.

’At my current rate of progress, I should be able to reach the peak of the Qi Refining Seventh Layer before the end of next month.’ Having finished his cultivation, Fang Yun inspected the state of his Qi Sea.

His cultivation was progressing steadily according to his plan. Compared to his initial estimates, however, he now had a much clearer idea of when he would reach the peak of the Qi Refining Seventh Layer and could then prepare to break through to the Qi Refining Eighth Layer.

The number of Talent Points he had gained in the last two months was better than Fang Yun had expected.

Currently, the talent closest to upgrading was his Shield Talent, which was only twelve Shield Talent fragnts away from reaching three stars. The slowest was his Shoe Talent, which was still sixteen fragnts short.

’During the Inner Sect Grand Competition, I’ll need to reschedule my activities...’

Not long after finishing his cultivation, Fang Yun began to consider his plans for the duration of the Inner Sect Grand Competition.

His schedule during this period would definitely be different from usual. He was sure to run into many acquaintances at the competition, and chatting with them would certainly take up a considerable amount of ti.

During the Inner Sect Grand Competition, it was still possible to do so Alchemy, but Artifact Refining would be out of the question, unless he were to refine Lower Grade Magical Artifacts, which take less ti.

As Fang Yun thought, a rough plan began to form in his mind.

Now that his cultivation session was over, he still had to go to Dan Cloud Peak to rent a high-level Alchemy Room and refine two batches of Qi Enhancent Pills.

On his way to Dan Cloud Peak, Fang Yun ran into an unexpected acquaintance.

"Senior Brother Tian," Fang Yun called out after quickly overtaking Tian Ruifeng.

Tian Ruifeng stopped in his tracks and then smiled, "Junior Brother Fang, it’s been a while."

Ever since Fang Yun stopped growing Purple Corn, he had one less person to talk to.

The last ti he saw Fang Yun was not long after Fang Yun had beco an Inner Sect Disciple.

Soon, the two began to chat about planting.

"By the way, Junior Brother, what Spirit dicine have you been growing lately?" Tian Ruifeng asked.

Previously, Fang Yun had been growing Qi Nourishing Grass. If Tian Ruifeng rembered correctly, Fang Yun had harvested that Qi Nourishing Grass over two months ago. He didn’t know what Fang Yun was growing now.

"I haven’t been planting anything lately," Fang Yun replied.

"Why not?" Tian Ruifeng asked imdiately, very curious about the reason.

"It was an arrangent from an Elder."

"An Elder from Dan Cloud Peak?"

Fang Yun nodded at his words. If he hadn’t fought for it, the Qi Nourishing Grass he was growing would have been handed over to other junior brothers and sisters to care for.

"Well, if it was an Elder’s arrangent, I suppose it can’t be helped," Tian Ruifeng said with great regret.
