Chapter 804: Chapter 803: Shouldn’t They Leave So Soup for Us to Drink?

Lady Jiang and Liu Xiaoqiao exchanged a glance.

Liu Xiaoqiao said nonchalantly, “So what? Our sister has the talent, and that’s sothing you can’t be envious about! Unlike us, who haven’t seen much of the world, we honestly just do so work to earn a bit of pocket money, and we have to thank our sister for that!”

Lady Lin said unwillingly, “What do you all know? I’ve done the calculations for our younger sister. Not to ntion the profits from the dye business, but just from the new tea leaf business, I estimate she makes a pure inco of a few hundred taels of silver a year! Silver!”

Lady Jiang said softly, “But this is what our sister deserves. We don’t have the talent, so we shouldn’t daydream!”

Lady Lin was frustrated by her two sisters-in-law’s lack of understanding, and said, “Who do you think I’m doing this for? For all of our families, of course! I’ve got it all figured out. Those tea leaves were discovered by our Jinpan, and we used silver to buy back the sugar. Based on rit, our Jinpan deserves the best, doesn’t he?”

“But no, Jinpan’s aunt has been back for several days, and never even ntioned it! That’s just unreasonable! I’m not that greedy, I’m not saying the whole few hundred taels should go to our Jinpan, but if she eats at, she should at least leave so soup for us, right?”

“And what about Fourth Brother’s family? Are you all fools? Fourth Brother went with them this ti, he may not have done much, but he worked hard! Yet our younger sister is stingy with us but generous with those outsiders from Yingzi Gully! How are we supposed to feel as elder siblings?”

“I’m not saying we should get dozens to hundreds of taels to spend each year, but surely since the tea business is profitable, we should get so benefit too, right? They say girls marry out, but she shouldn’t give the good stuff to people who aren’t even related to us! Shouldn’t our own family get to enjoy so of the good fortune too? Don’t you think that’s reasonable?”

Lady Lin heard that her younger sister-in-law had tead up with Boss Zhang to do the tea business, and she only had to take ten percent of the profits without any worries, and her eyes went red with envy.

Especially since she heard that it was her own son who discovered the tea, but her younger sister-in-law had intercepted it, making her even more upset.

In her view, the credit clearly belonged to her Jinpan, but since Jinpan was still young and Fourth Brother was mindless, the younger sister-in-law deceived them and snatched away this fortune.

Lady Lin’s heart was practically bleeding.

After mulling it over at ho for a few days, she thought she should wait for Fourth Brother’s family to co and talk to her.

Lady Lin knew that in their household, besides her mother-in-law and younger sister-in-law, Fourth Brother’s wife was the most shrewd. If she could team up with her and persuade the n of the family, they might be able to get so crumbs from the younger sister-in-law’s share.

But after waiting for several days, she didn’t see Liu Xiaoqiao make any moves.

She couldn’t hold it back any longer. She had just seen Song Chongjin, this brother-in-law, bringing gifts to Lizheng’s house. Who knew what kind of plan he had? If Song Chongjin took off with their younger sister-in-law, how could they go to the county to find them?

Though she hadn’t seen much of the world, she knew that once they were in the county, it would be her younger sister-in-law and brother-in-law’s turf. Plus, her brother-in-law was a scholar master, so they wouldn’t dare cause a scene in the county.

In a rush, not caring about her mother-in-law and younger sister-in-law still being at ho, she started speaking urgently.

Lady Jiang and Liu Xiaoqiao exchanged a glance again, then quickly shifted their gazes away.

Liu Xiaoqiao cleared her throat before saying, “Sister-in-law, listen to yourself! When it cos to Jinpan, as his aunt, I shouldn’t interfere. But our Fourth Brother said this ti he followed our younger sister to the mountains and earned quite a bit of silver. All this was thanks to Boss Zhang giving face to our younger sister and helping with the tea business. We should be content with that! Besides, our Fourth Brother didn’t really do much, so he naturally has no face to claim any credit!”

“Speaking of credit, who in this family has more than our younger sister? The whole family is doing well today thanks to her, and now you’ve forgotten the tough tis? If it weren’t for our younger sister, would the Wang Family be where it is today? One must never forget their roots!”

Having said this, Liu Xiaoqiao promptly turned and went back to her own yard.

Lady Jiang wished she could make herself invisible. Just as she was about to follow Liu Xiaoqiao back, Lady Lin called out to her, “Third Sister-in-law, don’t you have any thoughts? Now that your Jinpan is studying, you must know how costly that can be. Don’t you have any plans?”

Lady Jiang was so frightened she almost cried, waving her hands, “Our family didn’t contribute anything, we have no credit to claim, I don’t dare think about it! I’ll go back to my room first——”

With that, she fled like she was escaping.

Lady Lin, furious, slapped her thigh, “All of you, cunning as monkeys, pretending to be good people! If I manage to get anything, don’t think you’ll get a share——”

“Get what?” Old Granny Zhang stood with her hands on her hips at the moon gate, looking at Lady Lin.

She had just finished tidying up the dishes when she saw her cheap brother Yang Zongbao holed up in the room, holding a pen and scribbling sothing, while her daughter was busy with the turric they brought back yesterday.

With nothing else to do, Old Granny Zhang decided to wander to the front.

As she walked into Fourth Brother’s courtyard, she bumped into Fourth Brother’s wife. Seeing her, Fourth Brother’s wife looked flustered, quickly called out “Mother,” and rushed inside.

She couldn’t help but beco suspicious.

After walking a few more steps, she saw Lady Jiang rushing towards the third courtyard. Seeing her, Lady Jiang looked as pale as a mouse seeing a cat, trembling as she called out “Mother,” and seed desperate to stick to the wall.

This made her even more suspicious.

She glanced at Lady Jiang, about to speak, but then heard Lady Lin’s voice upfront. What else wasn’t clear to her now?

Lady Lin, seeing that it was her mother-in-law, suddenly lost her montum, but thinking of the silver, she imdiately found her courage, “Mother, you judge for yourself and see if what I’m saying isn’t right?”

Old Granny Zhang squinted her eyes. The eldest daughter-in-law was stirring up trouble again!

“Speak——”

Lady Lin, once she started, rattled on about everything from Jinpan discovering the tea leaves, to finding the Yang Family, to discovering Yingzi Gully. In short, no matter how much she said, it all ca down to this being her Jinpan’s credit.

With Jinpan having made such a significant contribution, she believed that even if nothing else, the tea business profits should reward him. Without Jinpan, their younger sister-in-law wouldn’t have had a share.

She didn’t want much, just half of the ten percent share would satisfy their family.

The rest could be considered Jinpan’s filial piety to his aunt.

By the end of her story, Lady Lin had almost moved herself. She was so generous, so reasonable, offering to share the silver and still leaving a share for her younger sister-in-law. Who would say she was small-minded and non-generous in the future?
