Chapter 1229: Chapter 1229: Raging rcury Flows Eastward (4)

Who knows how much danger these two paths might hide? If everyone goes down the sa path, the danger will be the sa. But if we split up, the risk might decrease sowhat.

"Two hours is the limit. If the people in the other passage haven’t erged after two hours, don’t wait any longer. Rember, never return to the other passage to look for them. Survival cos first!"

Everyone nodded—this wasn’t the ti to act like heroes. Their companions’ lives were in their hands, and everything had to be done with the greater good in mind.

The two groups split up and quickly entered the pitch-dark passages.

In the left passage, Gu Yelin’s large hand firmly held onto An Yiqing. Behind them, Tan Yulin took the lead, with An Zhiying bringing up the rear. The two of them had Yin Xilin sandwiched in the middle to ensure her safety.

The passage was vast and silent, with only the echo of footsteps reverberating in their ears.

Just a few minutes into their walk, a mysterious sound of gears turning inexplicably reached their ears.

They stopped in their tracks, alert and carefully watching their surroundings for any changes.

Suddenly, a piercing sound tore through the air, sharp enough to seemingly rip the atmosphere apart.

"Quick, dodge! Protect Lingling!"

An Yiqing shouted sharply, her body bending backward in a swift motion. At the sa ti, a dangerously blazing arrow shot past the spot where An Yiqing had just been standing, heading straight for the group behind her—An Zhiying and the others!

Tan Yulin was stunned, quickly grabbing Yin Xilin and evading to the side with ease, narrowly avoiding the arrow.

Just as everyone heaved a sigh of relief, a series of rapid whistling sounds erupted again. In the darkness, flickering points of firelight appeared, hauntingly like ghosts.

"Miss, watch out! More arrows!"

An Zhiying roared, swiftly pulling out the Tri-edge Military Spike from his belt and maneuvering in front of Yin Xilin, deftly blocking the incoming barrage of arrows.

anwhile, An Yiqing was held tightly in Gu Yelin’s arms. With his Inner Breath circulating, Gu Yelin effortlessly dodged countless flying arrows, occasionally sparing a mont to relieve so of the burden on Tan Yulin and An Zhiying.

The rain of arrows lasted a full twenty minutes. Only when everyone’s arms had grown sore did the attack finally cease.

The floor was densely covered with scorch marks. An Yiqing picked up one of the arrows, brought it to her nose, and sniffed lightly.

"The arrows are poisoned, coated with phosphorus powder."

"Damn it! Has the Situ Family lost their minds? Where did they get so many arrows? Did they borrow them from Zhuge Liang?" Tan Yulin complained loudly, shaking his arm that had grown numb from the strain.

An Yiqing’s mouth twitched as she inwardly rolled her eyes at Tan Yulin’s attempt at humor. Borrowing arrows from Zhuge Liang? Only soone with his level of imagination could co up with such nonsense!

"This is probably one of the Situ Family tomb’s chanisms, like the poison gas from earlier. To start off this intense—who knows what might co next!" An Zhiying sighed.

"Whatever shows up, with our skills, I refuse to believe we can’t deal with so dead people in coffins!" Tan Yulin flexed his fingers enthusiastically, itching for action.

An Yiqing nodded, agreeing wholeheartedly with Tan Yulin’s words.

"Everyone rest here for ten minutes. After that, we’ll move forward."

Ten minutes later, Gu Yelin took An Yiqing’s hand and led the group—An Zhiying, Tan Yulin, and Yin Xilin—deeper into the passage.

For the next stretch, nothing erged. The pitch-dark corridor was eerily silent. To conserve energy, Tan Yulin had already turned off the flashlight, leaving those with night vision to navigate the darkness by touch.
