Chapter 17: Chapter 17: Advancent to Tier One Guardian Beast (Mo Jin)
Just by taking out a single monster, Mo Jin’s level experienced a surge.
Instantly shot up to Level 9, with the experience bar filling up more than halfway, leaving only the last 500 points to level up again.
"Who would’ve thought, leveling up from Level 9 to Level 10 requires the sum of all previous levels’ experience points."
This leveling rule is fine in the early stages, but the further you go, the harder it gets.
anwhile, Mo Qingchen also realized why the concept of dungeons exists.
In reality, even if there were countless exotic beast monsters, they couldn’t possibly satisfy the hunting craze of the 2 billion people in the Divine Xia Empire.
In contrast, dungeons can be replayed, providing a steady source of experience.
The only pity is that the loot obtained in dungeons requires Abyssal Currency to bring back to the real world.
Any loot not purchased will be automatically devoured and destroyed by the Abyss upon exiting the dungeon.
Carrying Mo Jin to the entrance of the passage where the Wastewater Elent died, a large pool of foul-slling sewage appeared on the ground, along with the shattered Wastewater Crystal Core pinned to the wall.
"After the death of an Elental Exotic Beast, only the Crystal Core is left. I wonder how much this broken thing is worth."
Picking up the mostly shattered Wastewater Crystal Core and gathering the fragnts on the ground, he then bagged them and tossed them into the Space Backpack.
Next up, it’s ti to harvest.
Mo Qingchen looked down from the passage.
The sewage pool belonged to the Wastewater Elent; although there were many sewer passages connected around, the exotic beast monsters nearby had long been cleared out by that creature.
Now that the Wastewater Elent is down, after scanning the surroundings with spiritual power to confirm no dangers, Mo Qingchen cautiously climbed down from the upper passage.
Countless bones filled the sewage pool, along with several Space Backpacks and nurous items of equipnt.
As they say, you don’t pass up a good pluck, and Mo Qingchen certainly wouldn’t miss anything valuable.
There were a total of four Space Backpacks, but two were damaged with the internal space collapsed, making them completely useless.
The other two, though looking deteriorated, still had stable internal space with a lot of stuff in the one-cubic-ter area.
However, after Mo Qingchen’s inspection, they mostly contained so valuable dicines, while the rest were just clothing, food, and so not-so-useful tools like a Compass, sewer maps, and cell phones.
A fair amount of gear had fallen into the sewage pool, yet it was all weaponry and armor, totaling sixteen pieces, eight weapons all being knives of Tier Zero or Tier One quality.
Among them, five Tier Zero knives were severely corroded and are essentially junk.
Only three Tier One knives were intact enough that with a little cleaning, they could be sold as 80% new second-hand items.
As for the eight armors, they all beca trash, completely corroded beyond recognition, so ragged even a beggar would disdain them.
"Sigh, I thought it would be a big haul, but it turned out to be a pile of junk."
Complaining a bit, Mo Qingchen put the valuable dicines from the Space Backpacks and other slightly valuable items like the cell phones into his own Space Backpack and kept the three Tier One knives.
The rest of the miscellaneous items were all thrown into the sewage pool.
So things from unexpected windfalls, of course, can’t be taken out, or they might bring big trouble.
Although social order began to collapse after the Beast Taming Era started, the Empire hasn’t fallen yet, and strong military forces still hold it together. Those conglorate powers and cult organizations can only work secretly in the shadows.
If he blatantly took these dead people’s items out, he’d end up being taken in for questioning by the police.
Clearing out those personal items, taking the two emptied Space Backpacks, Mo Qingchen brought Mo Jin back to the passage they ca from.
Seeing the tail nets full of rat monster corpses, he opened the nets and stuffed the bodies one by one into the newly acquired Space Backpacks.
With the addition of two Space Backpacks, amounting to two extra cubic spaces, he could now stuff all the hunted rat monster corpses, greatly increasing the collected loot.
Previously, he had to leave many due to overhunting, picking only the juveniles without choice.
Now there’s enough storage capacity—first fill it up!
In the ti that followed, the number of encountered rat monsters sharply decreased, significantly lowering his efficiency in clearing out the area.
However, Mo Jin had already reached Level 9, needing just 500 experience points to break through to Tier One’s Level 10. Upgrading wasn’t that urgent, so he didn’t mind.
Running around wildly in the sewer, after spending several hours, he finally heard the notification sound in his ear.
[Notification: Congratulations, your Guardian Beast (Mo Jin) has leveled up to Level 10!]
[Notification: Congratulations, your Guardian Beast (Mo Jin) has broken through to Tier One, elevating its life level, extending its lifespan. Please explore other changes on your own.]
[Notification: Your Guardian Beast (Mo Jin) has reached Tier One, bestowing you as a Beastmaster. Your four basic attributes have improved; please check for yourself.]
A warm current suddenly erged within him, coursing through his ridians and acupoints, finally converging in the Abyss Pattern at his brow.
As the warm current disappeared, the Abyss Pattern automatically popped up the Attribute Panel, appearing before Mo Qingchen.
[Beastmaster: Mo Qingchen (Apprentice)]
[Tier: Level 5 (Tier Zero, 0/6000)]
[Talent: Eye of Truth (Concept Myth), Divine Soul Thought Movent (B-level), Power of One Cauldron (C-level)]
[Attributes: Power 10 ( 2), Agility 2 ( 4), Spirit 20 ( 1), Constitution 2 ( 1)]
[Skills: Telekinesis, Beast Taming Bond (Passive)]
[Guardian Beast: Unihorn Insect (Mo Jin)]
[Items: None]
[Abyssal Currency: 0]
Looking at the changes on the Attribute Panel, the level up, attribute increase, and skill gain didn’t surprise Mo Qingchen.
It’s just that the experience required for each level-up for a Beastmaster is ten tis that of a Guardian Beast. Why is that?
Mo Jin started from Level 1, requiring 100 points for the first level, with each level thereafter needing 100 more points than the previous, until reaching Level 10 from Level 9 required the total of all previous levels’ experience points.
And for him?
To level up the first ti took 1000 points!
Is there any justice in the world?
Is there any law and order?
Oh, since the Abyss rules now, forget about it...
"When a Guardian Beast advances by a tier, all previously earned experience points are transferred to and inherited by the Beastmaster, thus raising the Beastmaster’s level, no wonder it takes so long for a Basic Beastmaster to level up."
With only one Guardian Beast for Apprentice and Basic Beastmasters, leveling up requires nurturing the first Guardian Beast.
And many Guardian Beasts have limited talent, with their hidden four basic attributes being diocre, resulting in inadequate combat strength, leading to low killing efficiency and slow level-ups.
