Chapter 61: Chapter 61: The Test Begins
Chu Linfeng glanced at the Martial Arts Training Ground, where many people had already gathered. On the field, there were dozens of large screens, each with writings on them, attracting groups of people who were discussing and watching.
Chu Linfeng wanted to take a look but was stopped by Tang Li. "Chu Linfeng, don’t look at the words on the screens now; it’ll affect your judgnt.
The screens are also a test. They record so incomplete Yellow Tier Martial Skills. Hastily practicing them can disrupt the Spiritual Power in your body, risking the rupture of your ridians."
Chu Linfeng looked at Tang Li in confusion and asked, "Why does Celestial Dragon Academy do this? Doesn’t this an many people will get injured?
This could greatly affect the academy’s reputation. If so promising talents get hurt, wouldn’t that be more of a loss than a gain?"
Seeing Chu Linfeng’s skeptical look, Tang Li smiled and said, "You know too little. Celestial Dragon Academy selects only the excellent, those with both good temperant and aptitude.
If people are easily attracted by so second or third-rate Martial Skills, then there’s no point in them coming here to learn advanced Martial Skills. It’s a way of elimination since there are too many people. This way, it’s quicker to weed out those who are overconfident or opportunistic."
"Of course, so people can enter the academy directly, but they are few—at most two hundred each year. Others have to go through elimination."
Hearing this, Chu Linfeng understood the reasoning. About half the people in the square were trying their luck, which ant half of them would be eliminated. Even being eager to progress wouldn’t help."
At this mont, a loud and majestic voice suddenly resounded in the air:
"Today is Celestial Dragon Academy’s triennial recruitnt day for students. Many young talents have co from far and wide, which is an honor for the academy.
This proves the influence of Celestial Dragon Academy. I am your ntor and Vice Dean, responsible for this year’s recruitnt. I hope you all show your best strength and talent.
Due to the many people coming to Celestial Dragon Academy to study Martial Skills, we only recruit the most outstanding talents. To select the best and eliminate those with poor aptitude, we have a three-pass test. Only those who pass all three will beco students of Celestial Dragon Academy..."
Chu Linfeng wasn’t very interested in the Vice Dean’s words; he was more concerned about an important person to him—Xue Jin Mountain.
It’s been a few months since they last t, and he had said he would co to Celestial Dragon Academy, but with so many people here, it was hard to tell if he had arrived.
The crowd around him was constantly discussing, and Chu Linfeng managed to catch bits of their conversation.
The three tests: the first one is the Martial Pass, which is related to the screens on the field.
These screens are not ordinary; they were crafted by the most skilled Alchemist in the Imperial City. Striking these screens will display different colors and numbers.
The colors are red, orange, yellow, green, cyan, and blue, each representing a realm.
Red indicates the Spirit Martial Realm, orange the Black Tortoise Realm, yellow and cyan both represent the Earth Martial Realm with each color covering three layers, yellow for the first to third layers, green for the fourth to sixth layers, cyan for the seventh to ninth layers, and blue for the Celestial Martial Realm.
Don’t think of breaking them. Even a Celestial Martial Realm expert cannot break them, let alone the candidates here; that’s simply impossible.
Each person has three attempts, and the best result will be determined based on the phenonon displayed on the screen.
The second test is the Wen Pass. It’s simple yet difficult; each person will be given three pairs of couplets to match. Answering two correctly allows entry to the third test; otherwise, they are eliminated.
The third test is a secret. No information is disclosed; the academy chooses to keep it confidential.
At that mont, a familiar voice suddenly reached Chu Linfeng’s ear: "Chu Linfeng, you must pass the test; otherwise, I won’t let you off. You were originally eligible for direct admission, but unfortunately, the academy changed the rules temporarily."
The voice was Sima Jingyi’s. Chu Linfeng looked around for her but didn’t see her anywhere.
"Lin Feng, what are you looking at, glancing around?" Lin Ruoxi asked.
"I heard Sima Jingyi’s voice. She said we must pass the test. This ti the academy changed the rules; even those who could directly enter must participate."
"Co on! I believe we can all pass. Tang Li, you will pass too!"
"Yes! Let’s go. The test is about to start, so we should get ready early. Let’s see if we end up training in the sa area this ti."
Tang Li saw dozens of youths wearing white robes with Silver Sword dals hanging on their chests walking towards the Martial Arts Training Ground.
"Chu Linfeng, did you see the Silver Swords on their chests? Don’t underestimate them; they symbolize strength and status.
In Celestial Dragon Academy, there are five kinds of Sword dals. Entry-level students have the Iron Sword dal, with a strength realm below the ninth layer of Spirit Martial Realm.
The second type is the Bronze Sword dal, with a strength level below the ninth layer of Black Tortoise Realm.
The third type is the Silver Sword dal, which requires strength in the Earth Martial Realm. Each layer of the Earth Martial Realm has a different Silver Sword dal.
From the Silver Sword dal onwards, the sword body has holes, nine in total, for embedding Five-Scent Stones.
One stone is embedded per layer, and these Five-Scent Stones are unique to Celestial Dragon Academy, with no chance of fraud. When you see soone with a Silver Sword embedded with nine Five-Scent Stones, it ans they are an expert at the ninth level of Earth Martial Realm.
Then there’s the Golden Sword dal, which requires Celestial Martial Realm strength to wear, with more Five-Colored Stones indicating greater power.
The last kind is the Purple Sword dal, which only those with Divine Martial Realm strength can wear. Supposedly, it hasn’t been seen in a few hundred years."
Chu Linfeng noticed that the small sword had two glowing red stones, "He has the strength of the second level of Earth Martial Realm. I wonder how many Sima Jingyi has."
At this point, the loud voice echoed again in the Martial Arts Training Ground: "Now, all students preparing for the test, please get ready. This year, Celestial Dragon Academy is accepting 300 candidates. The selection officially begins now."
Chu Linfeng observed nearly tens of thousands of people in the Martial Arts Training Ground. The recruitnt was truly a one-in-a-hundred chance, with only 300 spots available. It was indeed a fierce selection, rcilessly eliminating candidates.
"Those who have seen the Martial Skills on the screens and have morized them, please stand on the left side of the Martial Arts Training Ground. Those who haven’t should stay where they are.
The ones who’ve morized the screen Martial Skills show great eagerness to learn and must be certain they’ve done so to move left. If you fail to answer when asked later, you will be directly eliminated."
Chu Linfeng exchanged glances with Lin Ruoxi; as the saying goes, curiosity killed the cat.
Indeed, Celestial Dragon Academy’s thod of selecting was truly unforeseeable. Especially with the phrasing of praise and encouragent, many people began moving to the left.
