Chapter 350: Chapter 361: The Monster Beneath the Lake
Ouyang Qian landed in a less crowded area, and Chu Linfeng observed the nearby hundreds of people enjoying themselves by the lake, finding it quite interesting.
"Qian’er, why do all these people like coming here? Do they just want to see that palace in the sky? That’s hardly realistic!" Chu Linfeng remarked in a sowhat speechless manner.
"What’s there to be surprised about? On overcast and rainy days, even more people show up. Cloud Mist Lake is truly magical; during rainy days, the tide rises, and when it recedes, strange items are left on the shore. Sotis, you can even find top-grade Star Stones," Ouyang Qian replied with a smile.
Chu Linfeng fell silent. Such peculiar occurrences truly existed. He looked up at the calm lake surface and noticed that visibility was limited. Despite the blazing sunlight, the lake was enveloped in thick mist, justifying its na, Cloud Mist Lake.
Chu Linfeng directly grabbed Ouyang Qian’s hand and headed toward the lakeside. The water was crystal clear but still bottomless. As a gentle breeze swept over, ripples spread across the lake’s surface, reflecting the sunlight like countless fish scales, creating a stunning sight.
"Are there any monsters in Cloud Mist Lake? Like water monsters? After all, this is a Sea Domain area, so such creatures could exist," Chu Linfeng inquired.
"This lake is actually enormous. I’ve been down to explore before but never encountered any water monsters, nor have I heard of anyone being hard by anything in these waters. You don’t need to worry at all," Ouyang Qian reassured him with a smile.
Just as Ouyang Qian finished speaking, a scream suddenly erupted from about a mile away, causing countless people by the lake to rush toward the source of the commotion.
Chu Linfeng and Ouyang Qian followed along. Among the crowd, there were mostly people from the rmaid Race, followed by those from the Crabman Race, and of course, many from the Human Race.
The screams ca from a young girl of the rmaid Race, whom Chu Linfeng saw being tossed around on the water surface by a massive tentacle.
A water monster? That was Chu Linfeng’s imdiate reaction. Didn’t Ouyang Qian say there were no water monsters in this lake? Why did one appear now, could she be deceiving , or perhaps she was unaware at the ti?
The spectators were shocked by the scene. A few of them even flew above the lake to attack the erging tentacle, but despite their impressive strikes, they had little effect.
Chu Linfeng and Ouyang Qian stood at a distance, not because he didn’t want to help, but because he had no way to intervene. Moreover, so among the crowd had reached the Divine Martial Realm, and they hadn’t acted either. What could he do, having just advanced to the Celestial Martial Realm?
"Lin Feng, I didn’t expect monsters to actually be in the lake. This is different from a sea monster; it doesn’t have the characteristics of one. If it were a sea monster, it would have already dragged that girl underwater instead of toying around here," Ouyang Qian said seriously.
A boy wielding a large, flaming sword flew alongside the tentacle and struck fiercely. With a massive strike of fire elent and blade energy, he tore a huge gash in the tentacle.
Curiously, instead of red fluid, the monster’s wound oozed green liquid, which released white smoke upon hitting the lake’s surface, clearly indicating its highly corrosive nature.
The monster, perhaps due to the injury to its tentacle, surprisingly flung the girl away. Then, a disturbance appeared on the lake, as if boiling water, with bubbles erging, and the water began to surge toward the shore like a rising tide, creating an eerie scene.
A deafening noise erupted from the lake bottom, prompting Ouyang Qian to swiftly pull Chu Linfeng into the air, keeping a watchful eye on the lake’s turbulence. Her quick response left Chu Linfeng embarrassed.
Feeling ashad to rely on a woman for protection, he inwardly vowed that this would be the last ti. In the future, no matter how perilous the situation, he would place himself in front of the woman.
Though a sense of speechlessness lingered in his heart, he recognized Ouyang Qian’s concern for him. Watching the disturbances on the lake, Chu Linfeng realized the creature was about to surface.
After about a minute, a monster erged from the lake that struck fear into everyone. The main reason for the fear was its enormous size.
If the Golden Demon Vulture and the Flying Demon Tiger were the largest Magical Beasts Chu Linfeng had ever seen, then this lake monster was at least ten tis their size.
The entire body covered an area of a hundred ters. Most frightening of all, it had tens of thousands of tentacles, three of which slowly lifted its gigantic body to reveal itself above the water.
The diater of those three tentacles was at least ten ters, enough to evoke terror.
When the monster fully revealed its body above the surface, it stood several hundred ters tall. Chu Linfeng and Ouyang Qian retreated several kiloters before stopping.
The nearby people also retreated quickly, as even at a distance of several kiloters, they were in danger. Though thousands of ters away, soone was grabbed back by the monster’s tentacle with ease.
This ant the monster had tentacles stretching thousands of ters, a true colossus that sent everyone scurrying to escape rather than watching from a distance.
Ouyang Qian rapidly ascended, observing the monster and saying to Chu Linfeng, "Even a master of the Ninth Layer of the Divine Martial Realm might not defeat such a monster. Today is truly an eye-opener!"
"This creature might be tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of years old. Its strength likely already reached the Saint Martial Realm. I think we should leave. If it has so peculiar attacks, we might not even be able to escape by then," Chu Linfeng worriedly said.
Surviving an encounter with a truly powerful creature is the most critical. Acting recklessly would be foolish. I still have many tasks to complete, and I can’t afford to lose my life here.
Though many people left, there were still quite a few hovering in the air, quietly observing the monster. Knowing Chu Linfeng’s concerns, Ouyang Qian retreated another kiloter.
"Lin Feng, we should be safe here. Let’s observe first. I believe such a commotion will attract nurous experts; perhaps my father will co as well," Ouyang Qian said.
Just as Chu Linfeng was about to speak, the voice of the Sword Spirit echoed in his mind, "This is too strange. I didn’t expect it to appear here. Could the barrier have been broken? It doesn’t make sense!"
The Sword Spirit’s enigmatic remark left Chu Linfeng confused. Evidently, the Sword Spirit recognized this monster, so he imdiately asked, "Sister Yue’Er, what kind of monster is this, that it is so enormous?"
"This is no re monster; it’s a true Ancient Holy Beast, the Glazewater Cuttlefish. In my mory, it was sealed. Why it appears in this world is truly puzzling," the Sword Spirit responded.
At that mont, a brilliant golden light suddenly appeared in the sky, blinding everyone. Squinting, Chu Linfeng looked up to see a resplendent palace erging from the clouds, faintly appearing in his vision...
