Chapter 339: Chapter 348: The One-Ard Elder
Only then did Chu Linfeng notice that the elder known as Elder Zhou was actually a disabled person, with one arm missing, giving off an aura of having weathered the years, especially those eyes which seed to pierce into one’s heart with sharpness.
A one-ard elder spoken of so highly by ng Ji certainly couldn’t be ordinary, and the fact that he sells Teleportation Tokens almost identical but at such differing prices must have its reasons.
Yuwen Qingkong stepped forward. The one-ard elder’s shop was essentially just a thatched hut with a table outside. On the table lay a brush and a sheet of white paper, where each person wanting to buy a token needed to write a few words, or rather, their heart’s wish.
Yuwen Qingkong looked at the one-ard elder and said, "Elder Zhou, should we just casually write a few words on it to purchase a token?"
"That’s right, but you must write down the thing you most hope to achieve. If I am satisfied, the price will be very low; if not, it will naturally be high, so high you may not be able to pay for it," the elder said.
Chu Linfeng noticed that Elder Zhou’s mouth didn’t actually open, yet a very clear voice emanated, which was quite strange.
ng Ji, noticing Chu Linfeng’s confusion, whispered, "This elder uses ventriloquism, requiring strong skill to let the voice co through the vibrations of his abdominal muscles."
Yuwen Qingkong pondered for a mont, then wrote four characters on the white paper: peace and prosperity, and handed it to the elder.
Upon seeing these four characters, Elder Zhou smiled and said, "Young man, there’s a regal aura about you. You must be of the royal race, and having such thoughts proves you’ll be a good ruler in the future. I’ll sell you the Teleportation Token for five Star Stones."
Yuwen Qingkong imdiately took out five Star Stones from his Storage Ring and handed them to the elder, saying, "These are the Star Stones the elder wants!" His language was brief and direct.
Elder Zhou opened his palm, and a golden square token appeared in his hand. Judging from the material, it seed to be crafted from gold, worth at least over twenty Star Stones.
Yuwen Qingkong took the token and felt its imnse weight, as if a thousand pounds, nearly losing his grip and looked at the elder with doubt.
"Young man, the token in your hand is as heavy as the burden you bear. You must always keep in mind that stabilizing and prospering a country requires considerable effort."
Yuwen Qingkong nodded, then turned and left with the token. At this mont, however, the token felt very light, like a feather.
Next, Chu Linyue stepped up. She wrote simply four characters: husband and children, and handed it to the one-ard elder.
The elder had no extra words for Chu Linyue, only stating the price of the token as twenty Star Stones. Chu Linyue then gave the Star Stones prepared by Chu Linfeng and received the token.
ng Ji felt a bit uneasy, fearing the elder might see through her identity, though given his strength, he probably already had but chose not to ddle.
Having figured this out, ng Ji also wrote four characters: humans and demons coexist, and handed it to the one-ard elder.
After Elder Zhou read it, his expression subtly changed, and he said, "Young lady, your wish is exceptionally difficult. It’s rare to see such a thought at your age. The token can be yours for just one Star Stone, but you must promise
one thing."
Upon hearing this, ng Ji was imdiately pleased, for the one-ard elder wasn’t giving her a hard ti, so she smiled and said, "Please tell , elder. If it’s sothing I can do, I’ll certainly make every effort!"
"I hope you deeply rember these four characters. If one day you go against their aning, I will hunt you down to the ends of the earth. It’s rare to have such a mindset at your age, so don’t do anything foolish," the elder said, eyes like lightning, staring at ng Ji.
ng Ji trembled slightly—a show of power that others couldn’t perceive—with a determination to rember, saying, "I will definitely rember, rest assured, elder."
She then also obtained her Teleportation Token, leaving only Chu Linfeng yet to receive his. If he obtained his, everyone could smoothly enter the Sea Domain. But if he didn’t, then the token that ng Ji and the other two held would be rendered useless, for if he didn’t go, no one else could; even if they wanted to, it would be impossible.
Chu Linfeng felt quite apprehensive, as just from ng Ji’s deanor towards the elder, it was clear that Elder Zhou was extraordinary. If he couldn’t obtain the token, there would be no hope for the Water Spirit Pearl.
As he approached the elder, Chu Linfeng didn’t imdiately write down his wish, instead quietly observing him, for he had just heard an inexplicable phrase, originating from the elder.
"Young man, do you know the Celestial Ape?" These clear words were what Chu Linfeng distinctly heard.
Chu Linfeng nodded. It seed this elder also knew the Celestial Ape. Could the Celestial Ape have gone back to the Canglan Ancient Land, intentionally leaving a ssage for him here? Though it seed highly unlikely.
Elder Zhou remained silent, simply watching Chu Linfeng, making him feel uneasy. "Elder, may I begin?"
Elder Zhou nodded, and Chu Linfeng picked up the brush, writing six characters in a flourish. Seeing this, Elder Zhou was imdiately shocked, looking at Chu Linfeng with disbelief, "Young man, could you show
your sword?"
Judging from the elder’s expression, Chu Linfeng figured that this elder likely knew the Celestial Ape, otherwise he wouldn’t make such a request. He might very well be verifying his identity.
Chu Linfeng took out the Cyan Frost Sword and handed it to Elder Zhou, saying, "This is my sword. May I ask what the elder is curious about?"
Elder Zhou examined the Cyan Frost Sword closely and said, "Indeed, it’s a fine sword. It’s a pity it has not yet been unsheathed. Your wish is perhaps the most difficult in the world. I will give you the Teleportation Token directly.
In addition, I’ll give you another token. Over in the Sea Domain, there’s soone waiting for you. However, he’s buying the Teleportation Token, not selling. Give him this token, and he’ll take you to a place."
Finishing, Elder Zhou produced a red Jade Pendant, with the character for "Qing" inscribed on it, subtly shimring with energy fluctuations.
Chu Linfeng accepted the Jade Pendant and put it directly into his Storage Ring, then presented the Teleportation Token to the elder and said, "Thank you, elder. Although the hope is slim, it is my duty. Even if it costs my life, I shall go without hesitation."
"Go ahead. The Sea Domain is dangerous, but with that person’s protection, it should be relatively safe!" With those words, the elder vanished suddenly, leaving the queueing people puzzled.
Chu Linfeng found it odd as well. Could it be that the elder was waiting specifically for him, and after giving him the Jade Pendant, his task was complete?
"Lin Feng, let’s go! Look, many people are itching to snatch our Teleportation Tokens. Otherwise, there’ll be trouble," ng Ji said.
The four of them promptly left in haste, feeling it would be pointless and a waste of ti to engage in conflict with those people here.
The Teleportation Gate at the entrance to the Sea Domain wasn’t far away. There was a large stone clearly inscribed, indicating that behind it was the Teleportation Gate, but the prerequisite was possessing a Teleportation Token. Otherwise, the result would be death by teleportation...
