But Avera possessed the most knowledge about the Isle of Rest. The other families all wanted to capture her to obtain intelligence related to the secrets of Anlon Lie Feng.

By the ti Fang Zhen had processed all this, the truth serum affecting Avin Ice Wolf was about to wear off.

"I have two last questions for you."

"A mont ago, did you want to kill ?" Fang Zhen's gaze sharpened as he asked.

"No. I only wanted to capture you and question you for information. I didn't want to kill you," Avin Ice Wolf replied.

"Oh. One last question, then. You called

a plebeian earlier. Is that what you call ordinary people who haven't mastered Crystal Bone Power? Do you look down on these plebeians? Have you ever killed or caused the death of an innocent plebeian, as you call them?" Fang Zhen asked, his eyes still holding an icy glint.

Perhaps because the serum was about to wear off, a conflicted expression clearly appeared on Avin Ice Wolf's face.

"Everyone in the Lei Ming family calls people who can't use Crystal Bone Power 'plebeians.' I have to call them that, too, being part of the family. But I pity them. My mother was one of them. She was raped by a Crystal Bone Master, and I was the result."

"I sympathize with my mother, and I sympathize with those who have no talent for Crystal Bone Power. But to survive, I have to call them that. I've never killed an innocent plebeian, nor have I ever hard them," Avin Ice Wolf said.

Just then, the effects of the truth serum ointnt on Avin Ice Wolf began to fade. His eyes gradually regained their focus, and his consciousness started to take back control of his body.

A look of terror spread across Avin's face.

"What did you do to ?"

"You devil... What did I just say under your influence?"

Avin Ice Wolf cried out in a panic, perhaps worried that he had revealed his innermost thoughts.

Fang Zhen's expression, however, softened considerably.

He even had a hint of a smile as he walked over to Avin and patted his shoulder.

"If you're not a bad guy, don't act so vicious."

"Or you'll get yourself killed and won't have anyone to complain to."

Fang Zhen ignored Avin's dumbfounded look. Instead, he took out another vial of powder from his Silver Moon Treasure Box and sprinkled it around the woods.

"This powder will keep snakes, insects, and most wild animals away. The two of you won't be eaten for the next two or three days."

"Whether or not soone cos to rescue you is up to fate."

After speaking, Fang Zhen collected the valuables he had taken from Avin and his partner and walked toward his Jue Ying motorcycle.

He left a bewildered Avin behind.

Fang Zhen started the motorcycle and left.

He hadn't killed Avin for two reasons.

First, there was the principle of proportional retribution. Avin had no intention of killing him, only ambushing him, so teaching him a lesson was enough to settle the score. Besides, the man only looked fierce; he wasn't truly a bad person. There was no need to take his life.

Second, Fang Zhen recalled his past gaming experience. There was a ga chanic where different actions led to different outcos.

Completing your objectives with a no-kill run could sotis unlock a hidden ending.

Fang Zhen had a feeling that this Isle of Rest instance was more than just simple faction-versus-faction combat.

Killing soone from one of the factions, even if no one knew he did it, could trigger changes that would lead future developnts in a different direction.

For now, Fang Zhen didn't want to burn any bridges. He wouldn't hesitate when it ca ti for a direct confrontation, but in the current situation, it was best to leave himself as much room to maneuver as possible.

The Jue Ying motorcycle sped down the hillside.

Fang Zhen beca more and more convinced that the Isle of Rest held so secrets.

It was clearly a primordial island, yet whether in the mountains or the forests, there were paths that seed naturally ford, guiding people through without letting them get lost.

He didn't know who had made them.

He didn't dwell on it. Instead, he followed the direction from his mory and headed toward the lake.

After riding for nearly thirty minutes, Fang Zhen could faintly see the lake ahead.

It was a clear, azure lake, the size of several football fields. Thousands of trees, very similar to ginkgos, ford a forest on either side of the lake, set back a short distance from the shore.

Between the lakeshore and the forest, several figures were moving rapidly, and the sound of explosions rang out continuously.

Fang Zhen stopped his motorcycle, took out a pair of binoculars, and looked into the distance.

Through the magnified view, Fang Zhen saw seven people ganging up on a black-haired woman dressed in black cloth armor.

The woman had shoulder-length black hair and wore black cloth armor decorated with white spots. She wielded a Thrusting Sword, moving nimbly to parry her enemies' attacks.

Besides the weapon in her hand, a black crow circled in the air above her.

The crow's eyes were particularly sharp and calm; they looked less like a bird's and more like a human's.

The black-haired woman was besieged by seven people. Although her footwork was agile and her martial skills were decent, she was still at a disadvantage.

Whenever danger approached, the black crow in the sky would whip up a black whirlwind and charge forward, using its unusually hard body to knock away the enemy's weapons and release sothing like Wind Blade Magic.

The enemies surrounding the black-haired woman were controlling various Crystal Bone Weapons.

One held a Crystal Bone Short Sword. Its core looked like a kunai and could project an energy blade of adjustable length, much like a Jedi's lightsaber.

Another was covered in a green, turtle-shell-like Energy Armor, acting as a tank at the front.

There was also a woman who had seven or eight two-to-three-ter-long bladed legs sprouting from her back, sharp as a spider's limbs.

Additionally, several black panthers and giant wolves made of energy stalked nearby, watching nacingly.

"It's useless, Avera." Among the seven people attacking the black-haired woman, one man was exceptionally tall. He had short yellow hair and was bare-fisted, wearing a piece of iron armor on his upper body that only covered his heart and the left side of his chest.

Although the Half-Armored Man was part of the siege, he hadn't made a move.

"If we didn't want you alive, you would have been dead long ago."

"Even if you are a Silver-tier Crystal Bone Master, how long can your Crystal Bone Power last?"

"Give up. You're still one of the thirteen families, after all. I'll give you the treatnt you deserve. Even in defeat, I'll ensure you maintain your dignity," the Half-Armored Man said.

The black-haired woman's expression didn't change as she said coldly, "You're not trustworthy."

"Heh, then that's a sha," the Half-Armored Man said, not angry, but his tone beca much colder. "Hit her harder. As long as she doesn't die, it doesn't matter if she's crippled or seriously injured."

At his command, the Crystal Bone Masters surrounding Avera all increased the frequency of their attacks.

The pressure on the black-haired woman increased sharply. Even with her crow's assistance from the air, she was so suppressed she couldn't even speak.

Fang Zhen watched this scene from a distance and vaguely overheard their conversation.

His mind raced.

'This is the Land of Rest. To clear this instance, I have to go to the Forbidden Land Netherworld.'

'I don't have enough intel. It'll be hard to find the forbidden land alone, and I don't have the knowledge to enter it. I have to cooperate with one of the factions on the island.'

'This is a golden opportunity.'

'I should save Avera.'

'If I just walk up and propose an alliance, they'll never trust .'

'But saving soone in their mont of crisis... that makes negotiations a lot easier.'

'As for Avera being the weakest faction on the island, allying with her isn't a bad thing.'

'There are two sides to every coin. Avera may be the weakest, but from another perspective, that ans she's the one who needs an ally the most.'

'If I were to approach the Lei Ming or Sea Tide families, they're already powerful. Why would they ally with and trust an outsider of unknown origin?'

'Avera is different.'

'The black-haired woman doesn't have a choice.'

Having made up his mind, Fang Zhen gunned the engine. The Jue Ying motorcycle accelerated, charging toward the lakeside battlefield.

His forceful entrance imdiately drew the attention of both Avera and the mbers of the Lei Ming family.

Although no one had moved to stop him yet, the eyes of everyone present were fixed on him.

The Jue Ying shot forward. Fang Zhen stopped about thirty ters from where Avera was fighting, then imdiately drew his gun from the holster worn over his Feiyu Iron Wall Armor.

It was a tactical holster; the gun chambered a round automatically the instant it was drawn.

Fang Zhen raised his Desert Viper, got off the bike, and knelt down. He then unleashed a burst of precise shots at the Lei Ming family's Crystal Bone Masters!
