SQUELCH!
The giant boar's howls were terrifying, but they couldn't stop the beating it was taking.
Before the massive boar even hit the ground, Fang Zhen's longspear pierced through the crown of its head, pinning it to the earth.
Drawing on his experience from killing the Crystal Bone Wild Wolf, Fang Zhen imdiately activated the Power Mountain Seal.
The boar had only just materialized when it was pinned, its imnse brute strength useless. It squealed and struggled frantically but couldn't break free from the spear's hold.
Suddenly, a sharp light glinted in Fang Zhen's eyes.
In a flash of precognition, he saw the boar suddenly stomp its front hooves on the ground. The earth rippled like water, and a shockwave spread outward.
Without a second thought, Fang Zhen instantly activated Gangzhan Chanting.
An invisible shield materialized around him.
Just then, the boar truly did raise its two front hooves and slam them onto the ground.
In an instant, the ground turned into a sea of rolling waves. Earthen ripples over half a ter high spread outward for seven or eight ters.
At the sa ti, the shockwave erupted, blasting the bark clean off the nearest trees.
Fang Zhen stood his ground, an immovable rock.
He had prepared in advance, his feet rooted to the spot, and was not thrown off by the rolling earth.
anwhile, the Gang Zan Seal nullified the incoming shockwave.
After both of its attacks were thwarted, the boar was clearly weakened.
Its power waned, and its body began to turn transparent.
Within seconds, the boar faded away and vanished, leaving behind a crystal bone boar sculpture that fell to the dirt.
The short, stout man's face filled with terror, as if he were looking at a monster. He turned and fled, abandoning the crystal bone sculpture.
How could Fang Zhen let him get away?
The short, stout man probably thought he could take advantage of Fang Zhen's heavy armor, assuming he'd be slow and clumsy, and shake him off to escape into the complex forest terrain.
But to his surprise, Fang Zhen, even in heavy armor, was more agile and nimble than he was.
With just two long strides, Fang Zhen caught up to the short, stout man.
The man's back was completely exposed, a tapestry of openings.
The surrounding area was relatively open, giving him room to maneuver. Fang Zhen swept his longspear horizontally, and the shaft smashed into the short, stout man's neck.
Sa trick, sa result.
The short, stout man fell stiffly to the ground. He landed face up, his hands outstretched and trembling—he'd been stunned into paralysis.
Fang Zhen shook his head slightly.
He retracted his longspear and used the butt of the shaft to press down on the philtrum of the short, stout man.
After a mont, the man's hands went limp, and he fell into a faint rather than convulsing like a zombie.
With both enemies on the scene now neutralized, Fang Zhen let out a long breath.
Being ambushed was frustrating, but after beating down his two attackers, he considered it even. With his anger vented, his mood and composure returned to normal.
Both ambushers were carrying ropes, likely intended for mountain climbing.
Fang Zhen put them to use, tying each of the ambushers to a separate nearby tree.
He began to clean up the battlefield.
He picked up the two sculptures one after the other.
One was a wolf, the other a boar, both intricately carved. The material wasn't crystal or glass, but so kind of transparent substance he'd never seen before. In all likelihood, this was the eponymous crystal bone.
He also figured out that both attackers were Crystal Bone Masters.
'I just don't know why these two were lying in wait here. And what faction do they belong to? What's the situation on this island?'
Mulling over these questions, Fang Zhen took out the water flask he carried with him.
With a flick of his hand, he splashed the mineral water from the flask onto the tall, thin man's face.
