In the darkness, the sword slowly thrust toward Gwendolyn.

Gwendolyn had undergone rigorous martial arts training. Even in darkness, he could rely on his hearing to defend and attack to a certain extent. A typical sneak attack would not work on him.

The assailant seed well aware of this, employing a slow and silent technique for the attack. Not a single sound was made, leaving Gwendolyn with no way to evade.

The blade drew closer to the center of Gwendolyn's back. Once it pierced through, the Curse Seal Master would have absolutely no chance of survival.

Suddenly, the sound of hurried footsteps echoed as a figure moved swiftly through the darkness.

This person wielded a long spear, their steps incredibly fast. The darkness wasn't an obstacle; on the contrary, it made their movents more agile and their senses sharper.

It was Fang Zhen.

Among his skills was a divine ability specifically for combat in dark environnts.

Dark Night Walker.

It allowed for rapid adaptation to combat in the dark, reduced psychological fear of the darkness, and overca the dread caused by the absence of light.

At the sa ti, it maximized the use of darkness as an ally, enhancing one's own advantages and granting a degree of immunity to certain fear-inducing scenarios caused by specific types of darkness.

Empowered by the night, Fang Zhen's senses recovered almost instantly, and he felt a sense of security from the environntal advantage.

The darkness was his friend, protecting him.

His movents had even beco more agile.

Fang Zhen charged forward, spear in hand, and thrust it out fiercely like a striking dragon.

It was a variant of the Progressive Barrier Capture spear technique.

His fundantal spear skills were extrely solid; he was no longer confined to specific moves, but could instead adapt to the actual situation on the battlefield.

Like a dragon, the long spear precisely struck the sword that was aid at Gwendolyn.

"CLANG!"

With a crisp sound, the assailant's sword was blocked and knocked aside.

The force behind the thrust was so great it nearly sent the attacker's sword flying.

This was the advantage of a long weapon.

Before one mastered it, it was heavy and unwieldy. But once mastered, it held an overwhelming advantage over standard-sized blades, and even its weight beca a strength.

In the darkness, a shower of sparks lit up.

The assassin's attempt had been foiled by Fang Zhen.

Gwendolyn was also alerted.

The Curse Seal Master whipped his head around, grabbed a handful of powder from his coat, and violently threw it behind him.

The powder ignited in mid-air, but it produced no heat. Instead, it transford into a shower of what looked like fluorescent dust, settling on the area behind him.

The attacker was too close to Gwendolyn to dodge and was covered in the Alchemy Fluorescent Powder. The surrounding area was also illuminated by it.

The assailant could no longer hide their figure.

A small body, black clothes, a goatee, and a blackened rapier in hand.

It was Tos!

"Tos! You're the traitor?"

"You betrayed the Whig Society?"

Gwendolyn shouted, both shocked and furious.

"What?"

It wasn't just him; the gazes of the other Whig Society mbers all turned toward them.

Tos remained expressionless, staring at Gwendolyn for a mont before his gaze fell upon Fang Zhen.

What no one noticed was that Tos's sword hand was trembling slightly.

Fang Zhen's earlier spear thrust had used the Vibration Rune Technique. Although Tos hadn't lost his grip on his weapon, the impact had been severe, leaving his hand numb.

The mbers of the Whig Society were still in a state of shock and disbelief, and for a mont, no one made a move.

At this mont, Ellick, who had previously distanced himself, charged forward at high speed.

Ellick's Body Technique was already uncanny, but when used in the darkness, it made him seem like a phantom.

Ellick rushed forward in the night, intending to take advantage of the favorable environnt to quickly kill the greatest threat—Fang Zhen.

Fang Zhen's expression was as calm as ever as he leisurely raised his left hand.

On his left hand, a layer of semi-solid grease had appeared at so point.

The grease faintly glowed in the dark; it clearly wasn't an ordinary substance.

He slid his right hand down to the middle of the spear shaft, ford a ring with his left hand, and pulled the spear through it. In an instant, the front half of the spear and its blade were coated in a layer of grease.

Imdiately after, he activated his Spiritual Power, and with a WHOOSH, the long spear burst into magnificent flas.

This change made the mbers of the Whig Society look on in astonishnt.

anwhile, Ellick ca to an abrupt halt, stopping his charge toward Fang Zhen.

Staring at the Magic Fla burning on Fang Zhen's spear, Ellick's lips curled downward, his expression turning ugly.

Ellick truly couldn't figure it out. Just who was this Fang Zhen? Why did he have so many incomprehensible skills and items, neutralizing every killing move one by one?

For the first ti, Ellick felt that Fang Zhen was unfathomably profound, his true depth utterly unknown.

The Vampire Count, for the first ti, began to doubt whether he could actually win this fight.

Fang Zhen looked at the flas on his spear with satisfaction.

'And that move to apply the grease was pretty cool. It took so skill, too. Glad I didn't cut my hand on the blade at the end.'

The Magic Fla on the spear was five-colored, looking brilliant and magnificent, and it contained a power far exceeding that of ordinary fire.

Fang Zhen had used his Spiritual Power to ignite it. The Magic Fla wouldn't harm him or the spear, but it posed a great threat to his enemies.

Although the Magic Fla illuminated the imdiate surroundings, the effects of Dark Night Walker had not disappeared, likely because the broader environnt was still pitch-black.

He held his spear and glanced at Ellick.

A mont later, controlling the spear with his right hand and the crook of his arm, he extended his left hand and beckoned to Ellick.

"Co and get ," Fang Zhen called out.

Ellick's face imdiately changed.

This ti it wasn't fear, but rage.

'So provocative! So infuriating!'

'In two hundred years, I've never t such an arrogant opponent!'

'Does he really think I can't beat him?'

'Well,' Ellick thought, 'I'm actually not sure if I can.'

Feeling sowhat defeated, Ellick beca exasperated and forced himself to charge forward.

This was just what Fang Zhen was waiting for.

His spear, burning with Magic Fla, once again thrust into empty space.

Right into Ellick's path.

The sa old trick, the sa old result.

The sowhat impulsive Ellick instantly cald down.

The shadow left by that uncanny spear technique was like a basin of ice water poured over the Vampire Count's fiery rage.

Ellick didn't even dare to make contact. Before he was fully caught in the montum of Fang Zhen's spear, he rapidly retreated, quickly putting distance between them. He backed up another ten ters or so, only stopping when he felt he was at a safe distance.

Having used his skills multiple tis to no effect, the Vampire Count's face was grim.

Ellick snapped his fingers.

The hall's windows were still black, but the candles in the candelabras inside suddenly all lit up, bringing light to the room.

Using his agile Body Technique, Tos also left the group of Whig Society mbers and took a position in front and to the right of Ellick.

Ellick and Tos now stood facing Fang Zhen, Gwendolyn, and the other mbers of the Whig Society.

Fang Zhen was in no hurry to attack.

His long spear was still burning with Magic Fla.

The Magic Grease was actually quite long-lasting; it could burn for at least half an hour.

His gaze swept over Ellick before finally landing on Tos.

Gwendolyn's gaze also fell on Tos's face at the sa ti.

"Tos, I never would have thought... You're the traitor!"

"You've worked so diligently for the Whig Society without complaint for so many years. Why? Why betray the Whig Society, betray all of us, at a ti like this?"

Gwendolyn, uncharacteristically emotional, rebuked Tos, his voice filled with pain and anger.
