Chapter 116: Chapter 116: Searching for the Life Gem

a.m.

In a desert millions of miles from Huaxia, a whirlwind of sandstorms rages.

The heat feels like a volcano, and at night, it’s impossible to see clearly.

Scorpions the size of shoes crawl chaotically on the ground, hissing, along with lizards, snakes, and other venomous creatures.

Suddenly, these little creatures stop, as if ti has frozen.

In an instant, their skin withers, their flesh and blood evaporate, leaving only a lifeless shell, dead beyond dead.

Reddish wisps of energy drift from the corpses, flowing into the center of the sandstorm, where a group of people can faintly be seen.

As this group erges from the sandstorm, leading them are three mummies!

Behind the mummies are many people from the Pharaoh Country, each holding shovels and hoes, as if here to colonize and expand their territory.

Eight people from the Pharaoh Country carry a bed, where the Pharaoh is leisurely lying, with two maidservants kneeling beside him, fanning him.

"My king, what are we doing here?" a person from the Pharaoh Country asked in confusion, having originally been a leader there.

Now that the Pharaoh has awoken, he naturally stepped down.

Upon hearing this, the Pharaoh slowly opened his eyes and took a deep breath of satisfaction: "Yes, it’s here."

The Pharaoh leaped up, landing steadily on the ground, and, guided by his mories, stood before a massive boulder.

On the boulder was engraved an inverted triangular symbol, known only to him. It represented the division of a Life Gem into four parts shared among them.

When the prophet foretold a great future event, he inford the other three, who acted quickly to find their places and begin their slumber.

He was the last to sleep, rembering the locations of the three, as did the master.

This whole ti, he’s been helping the master find the remaining gems; this is the first one.

"Dig, dig out all the sand here!" the Pharaoh commanded loudly, pointing at the sand beneath his feet.

The reason he brought these people was to use them as labor.

The king’s orders are not to be defied.

Imdiately, over a hundred people began to dig, especially the mummies, working quickly and tirelessly.

After about half an hour, they dug out a large pit, with ordinary people panting heavily, drenched in sweat, their lips colorless.

This was a sign of dehydration, and if it continued, they might faint.

Despite being nightti, the temperature was still incredibly high.

The deeper they dug, the weaker they felt, as if sothing was draining their strength.

"Stop," the Pharaoh suddenly shouted, and they imdiately stopped.

The Pharaoh, face full of excitent, rushed to the center of the pit, frantically brushing off the sand with his hands, shocking everyone.

They had never seen the Pharaoh wear such an expression.

Yet what shocked them even more was when the center slowly revealed a stone disk, twice the size of a manhole cover.

And etched on its surface were mysterious and obscure symbols, resembling sothing alien.

"What is this, sothing extraterrestrial?"

"Could it be the king already knew this was here?"

"It seems to have been here for hundreds of years."

The people of the Pharaoh Country gasped in awe, as if they had never seen such a sight before.

"Awaken, my old friend!" the Pharaoh exclaid with joy, as trendous and pure life energy gathered in his raised right hand.

Bam!

The Pharaoh slapped the stone disk, filling it with energy, infusing the symbols, causing them to emit a red glow straight into the sky!

Creaking sounds echoed from the stone disk, astonishing everyone present.

"Climb on," the Pharaoh said nonchalantly.

Imdiately, they started climbing on, each quicker than the last.

The stone disk began to rotate on its own, producing the sound of moving gears, stopping after about three minutes.

Thud.

A muffled sound ca from within the stone disk, and an unbelievable scene unfolded as it slowly rose.

A cylindrical object appeared before their eyes, rising until it was nearly as high as the Pharaoh, then stopped.

Thud, another strange sound, the cylinder slowly opened, revealing a perfectly preserved corpse without any signs of decay!

"What is this, a body?"

"Why hasn’t it decomposed? Corpses should rot even if freshly buried in this heat."

"Yeah, it’s not like it’s buried in the Arctic."

The people of the Pharaoh Country felt a chill looking at the intact corpse.

Why had the king traveled so far to find a body?

And why was he so excited?

"Old friend, finally, we et again," the Pharaoh grinned, infusing the body before him with life energy.

This was his old friend, with whom he made a pact: whoever awoke first would help revive the others.

As the life energy entered the body, the corpse’s pallor gradually turned rosy, the stiffness fading away.

Suddenly, the corpse opened its eyes, staring intently at the Pharaoh.

Icy eyes, like a living corpse.

But soon, life returned to the eyes, the pupils gradually contracted, and a delighted voice spoke: "Old friend, you’re here!"

The people were even more terrified upon seeing the corpse co back to life, but rembering their king was revived the sa way, much of their fear dissipated.

"Hahaha!" Reuniting with an old friend, the Pharaoh hugged him tightly, laughing heartily, "Sessho, welco back."

"You too, I didn’t expect you to wake first. How long has it been?" Sessho was excited and thrilled.

Their plan to sleep had worked, to feign death and then revive.

"Over five hundred years," the Pharaoh answered truthfully.

Upon hearing this number, Sessho grew even more excited, a glint of anticipation in his eyes.

He had slept for five hundred years, curious about the future world he awoke to.

As for his family, over five centuries, who knows what has beco of the wealth he left behind, his son and wife must have surely died, but perhaps there are descendants.

He wondered if they’d still recognize him.

"Great, have you found my family?"

"Yes, I have."

"Then that’s even better. I’ll head back first; once I’m ready, let’s awaken the other two together."

"That won’t be possible."

The Pharaoh’s words left Sessho stunned, asking in surprise: "Why not?"

"Because I’m here under the master’s order to retrieve the Life Gem. Hand over the gem, or you die!"

The next second, the Pharaoh grabbed Sessho’s throat, his forr friendly smile gone, replaced with cold indifference.
