Chapter 34: Not Mission 4
Clay stood frozen in place, his entire body stiff as if struck by lightning, his mind blank for a split second before a storm of thoughts exploded inside him.
Did... did my maid just kiss ?
His eyes widened, his pupils trembling slightly as the realization struck deeper.
Without
doing anything?
His heart began to pound, louder and louder, echoing in his ears as if the entire hall had gone silent just to listen to it.
Does that an...
The thought repeated again and again, growing louder each ti.
Does that an...
His breathing hitched.
Does that an...
And then it burst.
I COMPLETED THE IMPOSSIBLE MISSION?
Inside his mind, Clay erupted like a man who had just won everything in the world at once.
I LOVE YOU TO DEATH! I LOVE YOU TO DEATH!
His thoughts rang like thunder, full of joy, disbelief, and pure, unfiltered excitent.
I WASN’T WRONG CHOOSING YOU AS MY MAID!
His mind kept racing, unable to calm down as wave after wave of happiness flooded through him.
You are the best! The absolute best! No, not just best, you’re perfect! You’re the greatest maid in the entire world! In all tilines! In every possible reality!
He could not stop.
I’m glad I picked you earlier! I always rusted my instincts! But I know this is my destiny! This is fate working for
for once!
His thoughts turned even more chaotic, spiraling into absurd levels of excitent.
You just kissed
without hesitation, without command, without teasing... that ans you’re already loyal to the core! Completely devoted! Completely mine!
He clenched his fist slightly, trying not to show anything on his face.
I love you to death, Cy. I really, really love you to death my beautiful maid!
anwhile, Cerys stood beside him, her face completely flushed, her heart beating wildly as she tried to process what she had just done.
That was her first kiss.
Ever.
Her fingers trembled slightly as she pulled back, her eyes lowering instinctively as heat rushed to her cheeks.
I... I really did it...
She could still feel the warmth on her lips.
The softness of his skin.
The closeness.
Her breath beca uneven.
And then...
Although she couldn’t hear Clay talking to or related to the system, she heard it.
His thoughts that aren’t related to the system, but to his pure satisfaction.
I LOVE YOU TO DEATH!
Her body froze.
Her face turned even redder.
I WASN’T WRONG CHOOSING YOU AS MY MAID!
Her lips parted slightly, her eyes widening in shock.
He... he really thinks that?
Her chest tightened.
He... values
that much?
Her heart pounded harder.
Just by a single kiss from ?
Then ca another wave.
You’re perfect. You’re the best. Completely mine.
Her entire body stiffened.
Completely... mine?
Her thoughts began to scatter.
She tried to stay composed, but the warmth in her chest grew stronger, spreading through her entire body.
And then—
The next thought hit her like a hamr.
I’ll make a lot of babies with you... I can’t wait!!!
Her mind blanked.
Her face exploded in color.
A deep, burning red spread from her cheeks all the way to her ears.
W-WHAT?!
Her breathing stopped for a mont.
Her heart skipped so violently she felt like it might burst out of her chest.
Her legs weakened.
O-Offspring...?
Her thoughts spiraled into chaos.
Images she didn’t understand, feelings she couldn’t process, emotions she had never experienced before all rushed in at once.
He... he...
She could not even finish the thought.
Her body instinctively moved.
She retreated.
Not with fear.
But like a shy creature that had been overwheld.
She stepped back and stood beside him again, her head lowered, her hands slightly clenched, her entire being trembling faintly like a ek puppy trying to hide its embarrassnt.
Her breathing was uneven.
Her face still burning.
Her thoughts completely in disarray.
And then—
"You— YOU— YOU—!"
The explosive roar shattered everything between Cain and Cerys.
Cross Valmont’s voice thundered across the hall, filled with shock, anger, and utter disbelief.
"You dare?!"
He stepped forward, his face red, his entire body trembling as he pointed at Clay like he had just witnessed the most outrageous thing in his entire life.
"In front of His Majesty! In front of the entire court! You... you shaless brat!"
His voice grew louder with every word.
"Do you think this is so kind of joke? Do you think this is your personal playground where you can flirt as you please without regard for where you are standing?!"
The ministers stirred again, whispering, so shocked, so amused, so completely stunned.
Cross did not stop.
"You have completely lost your sense of propriety! Your manners! Your dignity!"
He paced forward, his steps heavy, his anger burning hotter.
"I tried to defend you! I tried to believe that you had simply grown reckless, but this... this is beyond reckless!"
He pointed again, his voice filled with both anger and disappointnt.
"You are standing in the Holy Court, before the Holy King himself, and instead of showing respect, you indulge in such behavior with your maid?! And also in front of your fiance!!!??"
His voice cracked slightly.
"Have you no sha?! No restraint?! No understanding of your position?!"
The entire hall was silent except for his voice.
anwhile—
Clay was not listening to his father... At all.
His eyes were focused inward, staring at the system interface that had just appeared.
Ding!
Congratulations for completing Mission 3.
Mission 3: Signal the Assassin Maid to willingly kiss you in front of everyone without doing anything.
Reward: High Class Purifying Ability.
Status: Completed.
Clay blinked.
...
Wait.
Mission... 3?
Before he could react—
A strange sensation surged through his body.
It started from his chest.
Then it spread slowly, warmly next, then cold and then warm again.
It twisted through his veins like sothing alive, sothing moving, sothing cleaning, sothing pulling out invisible filth from deep within his body.
But his head was not filled with that.
What... the hell is this...
He felt it reach his limbs. His fingertips tingled. His spine stiffened. His head felt light, then heavy, then light again.
It was uncomfortable. Not painful. But extrely weird.
It was as if sothing inside him was being rearranged.
As if sothing unseen was being peeled away, layer by layer.
This feeling...
It went on and on and on and on...
Longer than he expected.
And the longer it lasted, the more confused he beca.
Why did it feel like sothing was being cleaned?
His breathing slowed slightly as the sensation continued to flow through him. At the sa ti, he could faintly feel a connection.
Not to himself.
But to Cerys.
Sothing linking them.
Sothing reacting to her.
Was this the purifying effect?
His thoughts raced.
Then—why...
He frowned slightly.
Why only Mission 3?
He imdiately called out.
System.
His tone was filled with suspicion.
Are you mistaking it?
He clenched his jaw slightly.
I didn’t do anything.
She kissed
on her own.
His eyes narrowed.
Isn’t that supposed to complete the Impossible Mission 4?
There was a brief pause.
Then—
The system replied.
Host, you shouldn’t be greedy.
Clay’s eye twitched.
Greedy?
The system continued calmly.
You made a signal.
Clay froze.
...What signal?
...Huh?
By showing a complicated expression that looked like hesitation, internal conflict, you gave her a signal.
Clay’s face slowly stiffened.
...
That counts... as a signal?
Yes.
The system’s voice was firm.
Thus, Mission 3 is completed.
Clay’s lips parted slightly.
His expression twisted.
His stomach churned.
A strange feeling rose up from his throat.
His face turned slightly pale.
...You’ve got to be kidding .
He covered his mouth.
And then—
He almost vomited saliva.
