Chapter 23: Undetectable Assassination

The young man suddenly straightened his posture, his expression turning serious as his eyes swept across the surroundings. Then he looked at Frazanna and spoke with a firm tone, one that carried a strange confidence that did not quite match the tension in the air.

"I will deal with this alone."

Frazanna frowned imdiately, her brows knitting together as she looked at him.

"Alone? What are you talking about? You felt it too, right? Sothing is wrong. This is not the ti to act on your own."

The young man waved his hand as if brushing off her concern, though his eyes flickered with a trace of unease. "It is nothing. Just soone trying to test . I can handle it."

Frazanna stepped forward, blocking his path slightly, her voice turning sharper. "You always say that. You always act like you can handle everything, but you do not even know what we are dealing with. This presence, it is not normal. It feels wrong."

He gave a small laugh, trying to ease the tension, though it sounded forced. "Co on now, do not look so worried. Are you finally concerned about ?"

Frazanna’s expression darkened. Do not misunderstand. "I just do not want unnecessary trouble."

He leaned closer, lowering his voice, his tone playful. "Oh? So my princess is worried after all. That makes

happy."

Her face imdiately turned cold again, as if a layer of ice had covered it. "Do what you want."

The young man grinned, satisfied despite the cold response. "That is enough for ."

He turned away from her and began walking, his steps steady but his senses fully alert. "Follow ," he said loudly, his voice carrying into the air. "I know you are here. If your target is , then co."

Inside his dantian, the old man’s voice spoke again, more serious this ti. "Do not act carelessly. I still cannot sense the exact location of the enemy. This is not normal. Move into a crowded area. I will use an illusion technique to fool whoever is watching."

The young man nodded slightly, then changed direction and headed toward the busiest part of the town.

The streets were filled with people. rchants shouted about their goods, children ran around laughing, and travelers moved in all directions. It was loud and chaotic, the perfect place to hide.

As he entered the crowd, the young man slowed his pace, his eyes scanning everything. He moved past a fruit stall, then turned sharply into a narrow path between two rows of shops. He stepped around a group of people, then suddenly changed direction again, blending into another cluster of pedestrians.

His movents beca unpredictable. Sotis he walked fast, sotis slow. Sotis he stopped briefly as if examining sothing, then moved again without warning. Anyone following him would have to be extrely skilled to keep up.

Inside his dantian, the old man muttered. "Good. Keep changing your path. Do not give them a fixed pattern. I am casting an illusion now."

A faint ripple passed through the air around the young man, though no one else noticed it. His figure seed to blur slightly, as if there were multiple versions of him moving at once.

The young man smirked faintly. Let us see how you follow

now.

For a mont, it seed to work. He did not feel anything unusual, and no one seed to be watching him.

But then, as he turned into another street, his expression froze.

Soone was still behind him.

His eyes narrowed. "Impossible."

He quickened his pace, weaving through the crowd with greater speed. He turned corners, passed through alleys, even jumped over a low wall to cut through a courtyard. His movents beca sharper, more aggressive.

Still, the presence remained.

The young man’s breathing grew heavier. "What kind of monster is this?"

Suddenly, he made a decisive move. He dashed forward at full speed, leaving behind a faint afterimage as he activated another technique. His figure blurred, then vanished for a split second before reappearing several ters ahead.

He stopped and turned around quickly.

No one.

A faint smile appeared on his lips. Got you.

But the mont he relaxed, he felt it.

Sothing cold and sharp pressed lightly against his neck.

"You are captured."

His eyes widened.

Before he could react, suddenly, his face froze and slowly... his body dissolved into a burst of holy aura, scattering into the air like fragnts of light.

A mont later, he appeared behind the attacker, his sword already pressed against their neck.

"Who sent you?" he asked, his voice calm but filled with killing intent.

But then, the next thing that happened made his expression change.

The figure in front of him began to fade too, their form dissolving just like what he did earlier.

"What?"

The old man’s voice erupted in panic. "I cannot sense them! This is impossible! Leave now! Do whatever you must!"

The young man’s confidence cracked. "Old man, you are supposed to be an expert. How can you not sense anything?"

"I do not know! This enemy is not normal!"

Before he could say anything else, a sharp pain exploded from his leg.

His body trembled as blood suddenly gushed out, staining the ground beneath him.

He dropped to one knee, his hand gripping his leg tightly. His eyes widened in disbelief as he saw the deep cut.

He did not even feel it coming.

Fear began to creep into his heart.

"Old man, help !"

The voice responded quickly. "Use a holy spell. Flood the area with light. If we cannot find them directly, we will force them out."

The young man clenched his teeth. Fine.

He raised his hand, gathering his mana. This will consu a lot of my holy mana, but I have no choice.

His voice rang out.

"Holy Expoliandos!"

A burst of intense light erupted from his body, spreading outward like a wave. The brightness was overwhelming, forcing everyone nearby to cover their eyes.

The entire street was filled with complaints.

What is that light?

Are you trying to blind us?

Who is casting such a spell here?

People stumbled, shielding their faces, so even falling to the ground as they tried to escape the blinding glow.

The young man stood at the center, breathing heavily as his senses expanded. His detection ability reached its limit, scanning every corner, every shadow.

"I will find you."

He lowered his voice slightly and spoke to the crowd. "Do not panic. I am conducting a search. I apologize for the inconvenience."

So people cursed at him, others hurried away, unwilling to get involved.

Then it happened again.

Another sharp pain.

He gasped as his other leg was cut, deeper this ti.

He collapsed completely, his body hitting the ground.

His eyes trembled as he looked down.

There, on the ground beneath him, was a marking.

A circle with an X inside it.

His breath stopped.

They knew I would co here?

The fear that he had never felt before began to consu him.

His hands trembled as he tried to stand, but his strength was fading.

Old man... what do I do? What do I do?

The voice inside him was no longer calm. I do not know. I do not know!

The young man’s mind spiraled. His arrogance, his confidence, everything shattered under the weight of sothing he could not see, could not fight.

Then, a whisper.

Right behind him.

"In your next life, do not ever dare to breathe in the presence of the young master."

His pupils shrank and his head rolled mid-air like a rolling ball.

...

anwhile, back in the villa, Clay lay on his bed, his body relaxed as he stared at the ceiling.

Finally... peace.

He stretched slightly, letting out a breath. As long as I stay away from those fated people, I should be fine.

No unnecessary trouble. No dangerous encounters. Just rest, prepare, and survive.

He closed his eyes for a mont, enjoying the silence.

Then suddenly, a bright screen appeared before him.

Ding! Ding! Ding!

Ergency! Ergency! Ergency!
