Chapter 163: Borrowing the Egg

Moon-in-Water Dwelling.

Chen Beiwu had just returned to the entrance of his cave dwelling when a figure suddenly darted out.

“Hehe, caught you, Junior Brother Chen.”

Hearing this familiar voice, Chen Beiwu turned his head to look.

He saw Senior Sister Wan’er barefoot, stepping on air, hovering four feet above the ground, forcibly raising her height to eight and a half feet. She looked down at him from above, seemingly to maintain the dignity of a senior sister.

“Long ti no see, Senior Sister Wan’er.” Chen Beiwu gave a slight bow.

“Junior Brother, do you know how to cook duck?” Senior Sister Wan’er’s first words exposed her gluttonous nature.

Chen Beiwu paused slightly. “What kind of duck is Senior Sister referring to?”

“This one.” Senior Sister Wan’er flipped her palm, and a duck-type spirit beast appeared in her hand. Its feathers were bluish-gray, and three banana-like leaves sprouted from the top of its head. Its whole body trembled.

【Na】: Green-Banana Feathered Duck (commonly called Three-Step Collapse)

【Attributes】: Water, Wood

【Bloodline】: Second-Tier, Mid-Grade

【Innate Abilities】: Thousandfold Waves (summons a towering tidal wave; within the waves hide countless water blades capable of slicing an enemy to death), Banana-Heart Leaves (consuming the tender feathers on its head restores mana and heals hidden ridian injuries).

Recognizing the identity of this Green-Banana Feathered Duck, Chen Beiwu’s eyelids twitched.

Just where did Senior Sister Wan’er keep catching so many rare spirit beasts?

“Well, can you cook it?” Senior Sister Wan’er’s eyes were full of anticipation.

“Killing this spirit beast is a bit of a pity.” Chen Beiwu reminded her.

“Why would it be a pity? Spirit beasts are ant to be eaten.” Li Wan’er tilted her head.

At those words, Gold Egg’s body trembled, and it instinctively shrank behind Chen Beiwu.

Iron Egg also crouched on the ground, not daring to make a sound.

“Iron Egg, prepare the pot and boil water.” Chen Beiwu stopped insisting.

He had co to understand.

In Senior Sister Wan’er’s eyes, Second-Tier spirit beasts were just food.

Only those with unique bloodlines and extraordinary potential, qualified to beco Guardian Treasure Beasts of a Sect’s Third Realm Beast General, were exceptions.

Half an hour later, Senior Sister Wan’er rubbed her belly with satisfaction.

“Junior Brother, the duck-blood vermicelli soup and crispy roast duck you made were delicious!”

“As long as you enjoyed it.” Chen Beiwu smiled, carefully storing the three banana-like tender feathers from atop the Green-Banana Feathered Duck’s head.

Senior Sister Wan’er didn’t value these feathers, but he did.

These three banana-like feathers could save lives or heal hidden injuries. Their value was no less than that of an ordinary Second-Tier spirit pill.

“By the way, Junior Brother, can you lend

Iron Egg for a while?” Senior Sister Wan’er suddenly asked.

“What does Senior Sister plan to do?” Chen Beiwu’s gaze grew wary.

That Green-Banana Feathered Duck being eaten was one thing.

But Iron Egg was not only loyal, he was also his father’s lifesaver.

He would not allow Senior Sister to have designs on Iron Egg, not even a little.

Senior Sister Wan’er yawned, looking a bit drowsy. “Lately I’ve been refining pills nonstop. I need a trustworthy furnace attendant to watch the fire and ensure the cauldron runs properly.”

Chen Beiwu raised a brow. “But Iron Egg doesn’t understand alchemy. How can he help you watch the furnace? Besides, doesn’t the Alchemy Hall have plenty of alchemists?”

“I don’t like those people. Even when watching the furnace, they keep chattering in my ear, asking simple questions. When I answer, they still don’t understand.”

Speaking of this, Senior Sister Wan’er puffed up angrily. “I already find alchemy annoying, and they make it worse. Sotis I feel like slapping them dead!”

Chen Beiwu was surprised to hear this.

Senior Sister Wan’er was the Vice Hall Master of the Alchemy Hall.

Within the hall, she was second only to one person, standing above tens of thousands.

Which alchemist had such audacity to anger her?

“Iron Egg is a Fire-Elent Exotic Beast. Helping

watch the furnace fire shouldn’t be a problem.”

Senior Sister Wan’er looked at Chen Beiwu, softening her tone. “Junior Brother, just help Senior Sister this once, okay?”

Chen Beiwu looked straight into her eyes and reluctantly believed her.

Although Senior Sister was a glutton, she still had her own principles. She acted with sincerity and would not lie for the sake of eating dog at.

“I understand.” Chen Beiwu nodded, then looked at Iron Egg to ask his opinion.

Senior Sister Wan’er also picked up a clean duck leg bone, offering it to Iron Egg in an attempt to bribe him. “Well? Want to tag along with

for a while? I’ll make sure you eat well and live well.”

Iron Egg turned his head away, deliberately showing a foolish expression.

A look that said, “I’m an idiot, don’t co to

with your troubles.”

Seeing this, Senior Sister Wan’er turned her eyes toward Chen Beiwu.

He shrugged, indicating he could do nothing.

“Fine. I was going to share one of the pills I refine with you so you wouldn’t be working for nothing.” Senior Sister Wan’er stood up.

Iron Egg’s ears twitched, his expression turning serious.

“Ah, no choice then. Looks like I’ll have to rely on those old fogeys to watch the fire for my batch of Third-Tier Treasure Pills.” Senior Sister Wan’er sighed.

Iron Egg’s eyes lit up.

Staying with his master, he had eaten quite a few Second-Tier spirit pills recently, but he had never tasted a Third-Tier Treasure Pill.

If she truly offered one, watching the cauldron at the Alchemy Hall wouldn’t be unacceptable.

“Woof?” Iron Egg barked lightly.

“What does that an?” Senior Sister Wan’er looked at Chen Beiwu.

“Senior Sister, Iron Egg is asking if you really intend to give him a Third-Tier Treasure Pill.” Chen Beiwu translated.

“What, you little rascal dare question ? Don’t you know I’m a Third-Tier High-Grade Alchemist!” Senior Sister Wan’er bent down, poking Iron Egg’s head.

“Open your dog eyes wide. See what this is.”

As her voice fell, a pill appeared in Senior Sister Wan’er’s hand.

It was about the size of a pigeon egg, its body translucent like glazed glass. Inside was a droplet of liquid golden marrow, sotis radiating alternating hues of crimson, orange, and gold, sotis transforming into illusory dragon and tiger phantoms.

Sensing the terrifying aura, Chen Beiwu’s expression shifted.

“This is a Third-Tier High-Grade Treasure Pill, the Golden Palace Pill. A cultivator at Foundation Establishnt Peak can take it to shatter their foundation and form a core, increasing the chance of forging an Undying Golden Core by thirty percent.” Senior Sister Wan’er introduced it seriously.

Hearing this, Iron Egg’s pupils contracted, staring at Senior Sister Wan’er in disbelief before nodding repeatedly.

“Woof, woof, woof!”

“Junior Brother, does that an it agreed?” Senior Sister Wan’er turned to Chen Beiwu.

“Senior Sister Wan’er, don’t take Iron Egg too seriously.” Chen Beiwu persuaded.

Watching the furnace was simple work. Any alchemy apprentice could do it. Such work could never rit such high rewards.

Not to ntion a Third-Tier Treasure Pill—even a single low-grade Second-Tier spirit pill would already be an exceptional reward.

“I’m not joking.” Senior Sister Wan’er’s expression was firm. “The Golden Palace Pill is indeed impossible, but I can offer a Burning Qi Pill.”

The Burning Qi Pill was a Third-Tier Low-Grade Treasure Pill. A Foundation Establishnt cultivator who took it could ignite their blood and mana, temporarily raising their realm by one or two minor levels within the ti of one incense stick, vastly boosting combat strength.

The cost, however, was that once the effect ended, one needed to undergo a month of seclusion, unable to use mana or spiritual arts during that period.

Such a pill could serve as a trump card in desperate situations, but it was useless to Golden Core cultivators. Hence, its value was relatively low among Third-Tier Treasure Pills.
