Chapter 135: Fierce Tiger

"Not good!"

Sensing danger, Pei Xiao’s eyes sank as he hurriedly pulled a bow out from his storage pouch.

This bow was called the Wind-Breaking Spirit Bow. Its body was forged from Fragnted Firestar Copper, and its bowstring was crafted from Cold Rhino sinew. It was a mid-grade Second-Tier spirit artifact passed down through generations of the Windfeather Pei Clan.

A Foundation Establishnt cultivator only needed to inject a thread of mana into it, and the bowstring would vibrate on its own with a buzzing hum, condensing the spiritual power of heaven and earth into a spirit-piercing arrow over three inches long.

This spirit-piercing arrow had the miraculous effect of breaking through beastly power and paralyzing the flesh. Once it struck an avian beast creature, it could cause the target to completely lose its ability to resist.

At the sa ti, the Sand-Swimming Falcon, which had been relentlessly chasing, also rose swiftly into the air under Pei Xiao’s command, pulling open distance.

"Roar!"

In the next instant, the Cang Thunder Tiger that had been standing ready to devour him vanished into an afterimage, charging off at great speed in another direction.

"Not bad, not bad, it even knows how to bluff." Pei Xiao chuckled with delight.

The better the Cang Thunder Tiger perford, the more he wanted to subdue it.

Pei Xiao circulated his mana, drawing back the bowstring and condensing a spirit-piercing arrow interwoven with azure and crimson light, aiming straight at the Cang Thunder Tiger.

"Whoosh!"

The spirit arrow left the bow, its sound akin to a dragon’s roar.

Hot blood instantly sprayed from the tiger’s abdon, leaving behind a reeking pool of gore on the ground.

"Roar!"

The Cang Thunder Tiger did not retaliate. Instead, its four legs once again accelerated, while rotten flesh from its wounded abdon dripped wetly onto the ground.

"Spirit-piercing arrows are still a little lacking against a Mountain Lord." Pei Xiao lowered his bow, unsurprised.

His goal was to subdue, not to kill, so he had deliberately avoided striking lethal points.

Since this Cang Thunder Tiger had no intention of fighting to the death and only wanted to escape, he could simply wear it down.

Until its beastly power was exhausted and its strength depleted—then it would be all the easier to capture alive.

‘That’s the direction of the mysterious Spirit Lake!’

Seeing the direction the Cang Thunder Tiger fled, Chen Beiwu’s heart stirred. A Spirit Lake anchor point appeared in his mind, and in the blink of an eye he turned into a streak of golden light and disappeared.

……

By the shores of the Spirit Lake.

"Run, why don’t you keep running?"

Looking at the Cang Thunder Tiger collapsed on the ground ahead, Pei Xiao chuckled lightly.

"Roar."

The tiger let out a roar, its four legs barely holding it upright before collapsing once again. Blood from its abdon completely dyed the ground red, while its breathing gradually weakened.

Seeing this, Pei Xiao once more raised the Wind-Breaking Spirit Bow and drew it.

The Sand-Swimming Falcon was not skilled in close combat.

The only reason it had been able to chase the Cang Thunder Tiger unhard was because of its mastery of distance.

If the distance closed to within five zhang, even if he and the falcon fought together, they might not be able to defeat a Cang Thunder Tiger that excelled in close combat.

Thus, even though the tiger lay weak and near-death on the ground, Pei Xiao did not let down his guard.

"Whoosh!"

The instant the spirit arrow shot forth, the Cang Thunder Tiger turned into a bolt of lightning and dove into the lake, just barely evading the incoming arrow.

"As expected." A look of disdain appeared in Pei Xiao’s eyes.

This Cang Thunder Tiger had many tricks—first bluffing, then feigning weakness and collapse—all just to seek an opportunity for a desperate reversal.

But under his divine sense, it was all but illusions.

"Little Sha, force it to change direction, keep it running for another half an hour." Pei Xiao lowered his head and ordered.

"Skree!" The falcon folded its wings into a cone, its speed exploding as it instantly intercepted the Cang Thunder Tiger ahead.

Just then, a heavy mist rose from the azure lake, dragging down the falcon’s body and sharply reducing its speed.

Sensing the anomaly, Pei Xiao’s eyes grew wary as he gripped the Wind-Breaking Spirit Bow tightly, his mana-infused voice spreading in all directions: "Who dares skulk in the shadows? Since you’ve already laid down a formation, why not reveal yourself?"

‘Gulu?’

Hearing this, Gold Egg’s eyes widened, thinking they had been discovered.

‘What are you afraid of? He’s not talking about us.’

After soothing Gold Egg, Chen Beiwu turned his curious gaze to the Cang Thunder Tiger.

For a Second Realm lesser beast to borrow the might of a formation—it was no wonder that falcon-taming cultivator thought soone was lying in ambush.

"Roar!"

Now back on its ho ground, the tiger no longer bothered pretending.

Crackling with lightning, its abdominal wounds healed at a speed visible to the naked eye, while the aura it released surged explosively, even beginning to suppress Pei Xiao and the falcon.

‘What a cunning Cang Thunder Tiger, it’s even mastered recovery techniques!’ Chen Beiwu thought to himself.

Compared to this Second Realm beast, Gold Egg seed as foolish as a child.

‘Gulu?’ Gold Egg looked up at Chen Beiwu.

Was it an illusion, or had it just been despised?

The next mont, battle erupted once more upon the lake’s surface.

"Skree!"

Sensing crisis, the Sand-Swimming Falcon transford into a brown streak, carrying Pei Xiao skyward with unstoppable force, trying to escape the formation’s range.

Yet under the formation’s suppression, its speed was reduced by a full thirty percent.

That thirty percent seed little, but it was enough for the Cang Thunder Tiger to seize an opening.

"Boom!" Lightning arcs exploded.

The sky darkened, rolling thunderclouds pressing down and cutting off the falcon’s retreat.

anwhile, the Cang Thunder Tiger itself transford into lightning, appearing suddenly above Pei Xiao’s head, its horned spiral pressing directly toward the falcon’s neck.

Clearly, among man and beast, the tiger feared the lightning-swift falcon the most.

Pei Xiao’s expression shifted as he raised the Wind-Breaking Spirit Bow, blocking the thunder horn strike aid at his spirit pet.

"Boom!"

Blinding white light burst forth. Pei Xiao and the falcon were struck heavily, both smashing down into the lake with even greater force, carving out an enormous whirlpool.

"You’re courting death!"

Pei Xiao wiped blood from the corner of his mouth, shattering invading arcs of lightning and frost with a palm strike powered by mana.

Then he pulled a pitch-black arrow from his pouch, drawing the Wind-Breaking Spirit Bow to its fullest.

In the face of death, the thought of subjugation was discarded.

Pei Xiao now only wanted to kill the Foundation Establishnt beast that had left him so humiliated.

"Die for !"

He released the string. The arrow turned from black to crimson mid-flight, tracing a mysterious trajectory through the air.

The Cang Thunder Tiger tried to evade in lightning form, but the arrow’s talismanic seals exploded prematurely, blasting open a blood-hole three feet wide in its waist.

The arrow’s force nailed it against a cliff a hundred zhang away, erupting into a mushroom cloud that shot straight into the sky.

"Is it dead?" Pei Xiao’s eyes locked on the billowing smoke around the cliff.

The next instant, two scarlet beams suddenly lit up from within the dust.

‘That’s the tiger’s innate thunder ghoul… No, wrong—that’s a mutated talent!’

Chen Beiwu’s pupils shrank just as a deep violet shadow flashed forth.

Its speed exceeded even lightning itself—divine sense could not track it.

Sensing sothing wrong, Pei Xiao hastily pulled out a stack of talismans.

But before he could inject mana to activate them, the violet shadow overtook the falcon beneath him in an instant.

"Roar!"

With a domineering roar, the Cang Thunder Tiger’s claws crackled with thunder as they pierced through the falcon’s wings, tearing viciously.

"Skree!"

With a final mournful cry, under Pei Xiao’s disbelieving eyes, his spirit pet was torn cleanly in half by the Cang Thunder Tiger.
