Chapter 22: a villiage.

As Chase was walking, he looked forward, to see how his team was handling their new forms.

They were currently walking along a dirt road, trees to their left and right. Occasionally a carriage, either carrying a bunch of peasants on one of the few rides they would ever have to a new area, probably for a new life or job, or rarely, and by that I an only once, you get a nice looking carriage with soone important inside.

"How you feeling?" He said, walking up to Damian. Turning to look at Chase, who was surprisingly a few inches taller now, he replied:

"Like I owe a debt" Chase squinted his eyes. The only thing one could see with his head under wraps.

"I’m serious. I thought I was gonna die back there. As ungrateful as I sounded, I owe you... my life."

Chase didn’t think he could here sothing like this from Damian of all people. his eyes went wide, but then he shook his head. "Just promise to tag along for a while and watch my back."

"You got a deal." Chase didn’t see it, but he imagined Damian smiling in that helt.

with that, he walked to the left to speak to Andrew. "What’s up?" Andre turned, his orange eyes noticing the visible changes in Chase as well.

He didn’t speak for a mont. "How could so much have changed in one night?" He asked.

"I have no idea." Chase replied truthfully.one mont he went to kill a demon thing, the next he was basically half monster with a beautiful lady sowhere in his soul.

"But that’s not what matters. What actually matters is how it hinders what we want to do.

What is your plan in staying with the rest of us?" Chase added.

"I want to find conviction myself. I didn’t want to learn magic at the pace my family did, so I was sent to that hellhole as punishnt."

"So the person with the rich guy na is actually a rich guy?" Chase was only half surprised.

"Yeah. My family are low end nobles. That wanted to keep

progressing to show off to their friends but that’s seed to be all they wanted from ."

"And when you didn’t give it to them they sent you." Chase said. It still amazed him how cruel people could be. His eyes squinted a little, showing visible anger.

"Don’t worry, it’s all water under the bridge now." Andrew replied. "Especially now" he continued, pointing at his face.

His parents would claim him possessed by a demon and have him executed. The worst part is they wouldn’t be entirely wrong either.

"Now I’m just looking to find that conviction with you guys" Andrew concluded.

"It’ll be nice having you around" Chase said, patting him on the shoulder.

Before he could move to Donovan , he was already next to him. noticing a tad to late, Chase jumped. "NEVER DO THAT AGAIN!"

Donnie chuckled "you don’t think that’s funny?" Recovering, Chase looked confused.

"What happened to Mr. Nonchalant?"

"I’m not, I’m just not doing this around people I don’t know."

’I guess that is right’ Chase added in his mind.

He saw how arrogant Donnie could get during his fight with Vantriel. It was like night and day compared to the guy he saw earlier on that night.

"I was one of the founders of this idea so of course I’m staying. Besides, we’re almost there already." Chase was surprised. "What?"

Looking forward, in the clearing there was a village. "My friends, welco to mint stone."
