Chapter 124: Chapter
The mont they turned and saw who it was, the atmosphere changed completely.
Bai Ming’s expression turned cold, while Fu Fei’s brows drew together imdiately. Fu Li did not bother to hide her displeasure, and none of them looked pleased.
Li Manman stood there with a faint, mocking smile, as if she had been expecting this reaction all along. Beside her, Fu Fong looked relaxed, his gaze lingering on them with open interest.
Fu Li spoke first.
"You own this inn?" she asked, her tone sharp and unconvinced.
Li Manman let out a soft scoff.
"Surprised?" she said, lifting her chin slightly. "Your Su Long can buy a farm, and you think I cannot open an inn for myself?"
Her words carried a quiet edge.
Fu Fei’s expression darkened.
"How do you know sister-in-law has a farm?" she asked, her voice steady but no longer calm.
Fu Fong answered without hesitation.
"Who does not know?" he said lightly. "She is already the talk of Unit 50."
His gaze shifted, and his tone lowered slightly.
"She should be careful. Standing out too much attracts the wrong kind of attention."
Fu Li stepped forward at once.
"That has nothing to do with you," she said coldly. "We are not here for that."
Fu Fei added calmly,
"We only ca because of the notice. But now that we know this place belongs to you, we are no longer interested."
Bai Ming said nothing, but she had already turned, ready to leave.
Fu Li followed imdiately.
"Let us go," she said.
The three of them turned.
Behind them, laughter broke out.
Li Manman covered her mouth lightly as she laughed, her eyes filled with amusent, while Fu Fong’s laughter was louder and more direct.
"Leaving so soon?" he said.
The girls stopped.
Fu Fong stepped forward slowly until he stood directly in front of Bai Ming. His gaze moved over her with open contempt.
"You think you can just walk away like that?" he asked.
Bai Ming did not respond. Her expression remained steady, and that only made him smile wider.
"Do you really think anyone here will hire you?" he continued. "An illiterate woman who cannot do anything properly?"
Fu Li’s expression changed imdiately.
"Watch your mouth—"
Before she could finish, Fu Fong raised his hand and pushed Bai Ming.
The force was not strong, but it was sudden enough to make her lose her balance.
She fell.
The movent drew attention imdiately.
People nearby stopped, and others turned. Within monts, a crowd began to form, their voices rising in low murmurs.
"What is happening?"
"Soone fell..."
"Who is that? What exactly is going on here?"
"I heard he just said he divorced his wife..."
"Is that her?"
Curiosity spread quickly, and more people gathered.
No one stepped forward to help.
They only watched.
Li Manman folded her arms, her smile widening as she observed the scene. She did not intervene, and it was clear that she was enjoying it.
Bai Ming remained on the ground for a brief mont before pushing herself up slowly.
Her hands tightened slightly.
She should have spoken. She should have answered sharply, the way she always did.
But facing him like this, her voice did not co as easily.
Fu Fong noticed.
And he laughed.
"Look at you," he said. "You cannot even speak now?"
Bai Ming stood still, her lips parting slightly.
Before she could say anything, he raised his voice.
"Everyone, co and see," he called out. "This is the woman I divorced."
The crowd pressed closer, their attention fixed on them.
"Do you know why I left her?" he continued. "She is useless, lazy, and disrespectful. A terrible wife in every way."
The murmurs grew louder.
"She does not look like it..."
"But if he says so..."
"n do not divorce without reason..."
"She must have done sothing wrong..."
The words spread from one person to another.
Bai Ming heard every single one.
Fu Fong smiled, clearly satisfied.
"Divorcing her was the best decision I ever made," he said.
Li Manman let out a soft laugh beside him.
"So people only look proper on the outside," she added lightly, "but inside, they are nothing."
Fu Li stepped forward imdiately.
"That is enough!" she said sharply. "Stop spreading lies!"
Fu Fei stood beside her.
"You are twisting everything," she said firmly. "Do not act like you are innocent."
Before they could continue, Li Manman stepped forward.
Her expression changed, the amusent gone, replaced by sothing colder.
"You two should think carefully before speaking," she said calmly.
Her gaze moved between Fu Li and Fu Fei.
"You still have your reputations," she continued. "If you involve yourselves in matters like this, do not bla others when your nas are dragged through the mud."
Her tone remained soft, but her words were sharp.
"If rumors begin to spread about you," she added, "who will still want to marry you?"
The words settled heavily.
The crowd grew quieter for a mont before the whispers began again.
"She is right..."
"Girls must be careful..."
"No family will want trouble..."
Fu Li’s fists clenched tightly.
Fu Fei’s expression hardened, though she held her back.
In the center of it all, Bai Ming stood still.
Her fingers slowly tightened at her side.
Fu Fong let out a scoff, his laughter rising louder as he looked at Bai Ming with open satisfaction, as if everything had already gone exactly the way he wanted.
"You will never survive on your own," he said, his voice carrying clearly through the crowd. "How long do you expect Su Long and her family to support you?"
He took a step closer, his gaze filled with contempt.
"You will never rise," he continued. "You will never find a better man than ."
Fu Fong’s smile widened as he pressed on.
"You and your children will live like beggars for the rest of your lives," he said. "Struggling, relying on others, with nothing to your na."
His voice lowered slightly, but the cruelty in it deepened.
"And you will never marry again," he added. "No man would ever take a woman who has already been used and cast aside."
A few people in the crowd chuckled.
Others exchanged looks, whispering among themselves.
"It is true..."
"Who would want such a woman..."
"She should be grateful she was married at all..."
The words spread like a stain.
Bai Ming heard everything.
Every sentence.
Every insult.
Her hands tightened at her sides, her nails pressing into her palms, but her expression remained still.
Fu Fong laughed again, clearly enjoying himself.
But before his laughter could settle—
A voice cut through the noise.
"Is that what you think?"
