Chapter 108: Chapter

After a short mont, I placed the empty cup back into Zhao Yin’s hand and nodded once.

"We will see you tomorrow," I said.

The eldest answered imdiately.

"We will be there."

I turned slightly.

"Make sure you are," I added.

He did not hesitate.

"We will not be late."

That was enough.

Fu Sheng gave a small nod to the woman, and I did the sa.

"Take care," she said.

"We will," I replied.

Without saying anything more, we turned and walked out of the house.

The path outside was quiet again.

For a while, neither of us spoke.

We walked side by side, our steps steady.

Then I said,

"The two girls..."

Fu Sheng glanced at .

"What about them?" he asked.

I kept my gaze forward.

"They are not simple," I said. "Especially Zhao Yin."

He did not interrupt.

"She thinks clearly," I continued. "And she speaks with purpose."

Fu Sheng nodded slightly.

"I noticed," he said.

I added,

"They were raised well, even in that situation."

He let out a small breath.

"That kind of thinking does not co easily," he said.

I stopped walking.

He took one more step before noticing and stopping as well.

Then he turned to face .

"What are you thinking?" he asked.

I looked at him directly.

"What if we get them engaged?" I said.

His brows drew together slightly.

"To who?" he asked.

I held his gaze.

"Fu Teng and Fu Tong."

For a mont—

He did not speak.

Then his expression changed.

"You are serious?" he asked.

"Yes," I replied.

He looked at

carefully.

"We just t them," he said. "And you are already thinking of marriage?"

"This is not about ti," I said. "It is about the situation."

He stayed quiet.

So I continued.

"You heard what their mother said," I said. "Once nas are registered, they are already considered married."

His eyes shifted slightly.

"And that will protect them from being taken," I added.

Fu Sheng’s jaw tightened faintly.

"That is true," he said.

I stepped a little closer.

"Fu Teng and Fu Tong are both at risk," I said. "We cannot ignore that."

He did not deny it.

"But marrying them like this..." he said slowly, "to people we barely know..."

I cut in,

"They are not strangers in the wrong way."

He looked at .

"They are desperate," I said. "But they are not careless."

I paused.

"And more importantly... they are not greedy."

He frowned slightly.

"That is not enough," he said.

"It is enough for now," I replied.

There was a brief silence.

Then I added,

"You saw how they behaved."

He did not respond.

"They did not interrupt," I continued. "They listened. They understood. And they did not try to push anything."

Fu Sheng exhaled slowly.

"That is true," he admitted.

I tilted my head slightly.

"And Zhao Yin," I said. "If she enters a family, she will not cause trouble."

He looked at

again.

"You are already judging her character after one conversation," he said.

"Yes," I replied calmly.

He almost looked like he wanted to argue.

But he did not.

Instead, he asked,

"And Zhao Yue?"

"She is softer," I said. "But she follows her sister’s lead."

He nodded slightly.

"So you plan to match them?" he asked.

"Yes."

He looked away for a mont, thinking.

"This is not sothing small," he said. "It involves Fu Teng and Fu Tong. We cannot decide for them."

"I know," I said.

He turned back to .

"Then what are you planning?" he asked.

I t his gaze.

"We ask them," I said.

His expression steadied.

"And if they refuse?" he asked.

"Then we drop it," I replied.

There was no hesitation in my voice.

He watched

for a mont.

Then he said,

"You have already thought this through."

"Yes."

He let out a breath.

Then he nodded once.

"...Alright," he said.

I smiled faintly.

"Good."

.....

Bai Ming slowed her steps as she entered the shelter area, her eyes moving from one corner to another as she tried to take in everything at once.

The place was crowded.

Not in an organized way, but in the kind of way that ca from too many people sharing too little space. There were children sitting on the ground, so playing with broken pieces of wood, while others stayed close to their mothers. A few older n leaned against the walls, their faces tired, their eyes dull from long days of hardship.

She walked further in.

Her brows slowly drew together.

"...He is not here," she muttered under her breath.

She had expected to find Han Fuji sowhere among them, but there was no sign of him.

Her steps slowed.

Her gaze sharpened slightly.

Sothing about the place did not sit well with her.

She was about to turn back—

When voices suddenly rose from the side.

"Look what we have here."

Bai Ming stopped.

Her eyes shifted.

A group of n walked out from behind one of the broken structures.

Their clothes were rough, worn, and loosely tied, but their expressions were far from tired. There was sothing else in their eyes.

Sothing unpleasant.

They looked at her like they had just found entertainnt.

Bai Ming straightened slightly.

She did not step back.

Her chin lifted just a little.

She was not small.

Her figure was full and curved, her waist defined, her posture confident. Her skin was fair and smooth, standing out even more in a place like this. Even without fine clothes, she still carried herself like soone who had not always lived like this.

That alone drew attention.

One of the n let out a low whistle.

"Where did you co from?" he asked, his eyes moving over her slowly.

Another laughed.

"Lost your way, little lady?"

Bai Ming looked at them.

Her expression did not change.

"If I was lost," she said, her voice sharp and clear, "I would not walk into a place filled with people like you."

The n paused.

Then one of them laughed loudly.

"Ah, she has a mouth," he said.

"Not just a mouth," another added, stepping closer. "She has so courage too."

Bai Ming did not move.

She folded her arms slightly.

"Courage?" she said. "No. I just do not waste ti being polite to useless people."

That—

Changed the air.

The laughter stopped.

The man in front of her narrowed his eyes.

"You talk too much," he said.

"And you think too little," she replied imdiately.

A few of the n shifted.

One of them spat to the side.

"Won like you need to be taught properly," he muttered.

The one in front stepped closer.

Too close.

"You think you are better than us?" he asked, his voice dropping.

Bai Ming’s eyes turned cold.

"Step back," she said.

He did not.

Instead, he reached out slightly, as if to grab her.

That was enough.

Before he could touch her—

Bai Ming moved.

Fast.

Her leg ca up without warning—

And struck.

Hard.

Directly between his legs.

The man froze.

Then his face twisted instantly.

His eyes widened as a strangled sound escaped his throat.

"—Ahhh!"

He collapsed forward slightly, his hands grabbing himself as his whole body bent in pain.

His face turned red almost imdiately.

The n around him froze for a second.

Then—

"You bitch!"

Anger exploded.

Two of them rushed forward imdiately.

Bai Ming stepped back slightly, her eyes sharp, her breathing steady.

"Co," she said coldly. "Try it."

They did not hesitate.

They charged at her.

One of the n stepped forward quickly and grabbed Bai Ming’s arm.

"Let go," she said as she tried to pull free.

He did not listen.

Instead, he tightened his grip and dragged her closer.

The others moved in and surrounded her.

No one stepped forward to help.

People were watching.

Children, won, even a few n stood at a distance, looking at what was happening, but none of them moved. So lowered their heads, others simply watched in silence.

Bai Ming saw it.

And her expression turned colder.

"Help ! Help!?" she said.

One of the n laughed.

"Here, no one will help you," he said.

She struggled again, twisting her wrist, but his grip was strong.

Another man reached for her shoulder.

In the struggle, the basket in her hand slipped.

It fell to the ground.

The food inside scattered across the dirt.

No one cared.

Bai Ming tried to pull away again—

But one of the n grabbed at her clothes.

The fabric tore.

A sharp sound cut through the air.

For a brief mont, everything went still.

A part of her upper clothing had been pulled loose, exposing a strip of her fair skin... it exposed so parts of her cleavage.

Bai Ming froze.

Then—

Laughter broke out.

"Look at her—"

"Not bad..."

Their eyes changed.

The way they looked at her changed.

Bai Ming’s face went cold.

Her anger rose instantly.

Before she could move—

One of the n suddenly jerked forward.

A heavy kick landed on his back.

Hard.

He was thrown forward and crashed to the ground.

The laughter stopped.

Everyone turned.

The people who had been watching also looked over.

This ti—

There was no silence.

Just tension.

Because soone had stepped in.
